I was new to contrracting and my recruitment agency referred me to Paymatters. Paymatters give you the options about how a contractor can be paid ie through the agency, through their umbrella company or by setting up your own limited company. As I was new to contracting and didnt think I'd be doing it long term I joined their umbrella company. Whole sign up process was very simple and they took care of my weekly invoices to the agency. Also had my own account manager who was great. read more

After having to chase my hard earned cash every week I decided to do some research on the owners of Umbrella.co.uk previously PayMatters, previously God knows what. It seems they keep changing their name and re-branding constantly. This character Miles Grady I honestly doubt he even lays straight in bed at night. Everything he says appears to be untrue. I'm glad I'm away from this sorry lot now and pity any of the clients. I blame these guys for my stomach ulcers!! read more

This summer I have sacked Paymatters and moved to Crunch Accounting. Why; ........Paymatters failings, - Late supply of simple payslips for employees, upset my employees and caused me loss of time and effort to correct this. - VAT submissions incorrect, wrong rates and missing income has meant I have had to do a disclosure to HMRC - Not preparing and issuing P11Ds for director expenses in line with HMRC rules. - Mistakes in values of Director Remuneration. - Having to regularily chase Paymatters to ensure returns done on time. - Online software is archaic and not end user friendly - Online software updates but no explainations - Payrole / payslips off line for months read more

It has been a shocking stuff to read about Umbrella.co.uk today in these reviews and also personally. Indeed they have changed their name from Paymatters.co.uk to Umbrella.co.uk to hide and run away from their previous fraud. Miles Grady is the culprit who is involved in this high interest loans that are presently being investigated. I being one of the victims of the Harrington Brooks VAT Scam can state it truly. You can find their detailed review history in youtube videos. When I invested in their previous Company I was totally unawared of this and I had no choice at that point of time. But now I realized their motive after going through hundreds of complaints and scams that they have made through their Company. One of their victims has even hosted a domain revealing Miles Grady's illegal activities relating the VAT Scam of his previous Company Harrington Brooks. The worst part is relating nothing but the stolen amount from his own friend Ian Griffin. You can find the details in www.paymatterscomplaints.co.uk It is mysterious how this man set up a TAX advice company without any training and there he was found with a VAT Scam. It is very astonishing that the positive reviews from these sites are filtered and taken away. Is there any underhand in these also? A big Question...!!! read more

My name is Jack Morris and I am here to advise people reading the review of Umbrella.co.uk . They were previously Paymatters.co.uk and had a wierd past. Citizens should be well aware before they plan to do business with this company as the directors have a dark past and probably in the near future also. It was my luck that I was going to go with this company but my friend hold me back. He gave me the knowledge about reading hundreds of complaints and scams about this man and his companies. I even came upon a website named www.paymatterscomplaints.co.uk where someone has briefed the whole history of Harrington Brooks company. The person had the motive to get his VAT back from the this company which was stolen from his own friend Ian Griffin. It was very astonishing that how this man set up a TAX advice company where he has no knowledge about this and then landed upon with a VAT Scam. Now I am pretty sure after going through all the reviews on different websites that indeed many people suffered this VAT Scam of Harrington Brooks and thus they are well aware of the directors. Thus I think people should stay well away from this fraud company with their fraud investment plans. read more

It has been very shocking that PayMatters had such a negative impact on my life. Now they have changed their name from Paymatters to Umbrella.co.uk to hide their previous frauds. The various reviews in different websites are showing that they have cheated many of us. The main culprit is Miles Grady and was involved in high interest loans that are presently being investigated. I being one of the victims of the Harrington Brooks VAT Scam is having a tax investigation because of their non compliant umbrella company. It has been very mysterious that a person setting up a TAX advice company without the knowledge and training for the same. And now when I invested in this company, I came to know that I have been scammed in this fraud. Their complaints are more visible in www.paymatterscomplaints.co.uk which is a website set up by one of their victims. I hope that we will soon be getting justice from the tax investigation because of their non compliant umbrella. Beware Of Them..!!! read more

I only wish I had read the reviews on sites like NotPayMatters & PayMattersComplaints.co.uk... which would of saved me a total nightmare for the last two years. This company and their untrained employees/fools ruined my credit rating and HMRC status which was impeccable until PayMatters took control of my payroll... The only umbrella PayMatters know anything about is if it's raining and you want to keep dry. Joking aside this company made me and my family physically ill. I now know from the various blogs and websites the founder and director of PayMatters Miles Grady has no experience in the space of umbrella crop's. Companies house show Mr Grady spent his professional life in debt management which he also faces serious allegations of VAT fraud... I guess you live and learn. I am back with my old accountant saving money and sleeping for the first time in a long time. I would not recommend this outfit to my worst enemy. Stay away! MG read more

I have a past record about this Company. They were actually Paymatters.co.uk and they have changed its name to Umbrella.co.uk now because they want to run away and hide their previous fraud. It is very much true that they falsely claimed their last company just by frauding the real founder. Both Holmes and Grady are the main culprit of the Harrington Brooks VAT Scam. You can do a company house search to find their full details on Harrington Brooks. Miles Grady and Nick Holmes charged VAT with their previous company when they were not at all registered. They have fraud people by charging VAT and many knew about it. Harrington Brooks was never registered for VAT. Thus stay away from this company as you can be their next victim. There are plenty of PayRoll companies with a clean history where you can invest happily. read more

I recently had a terrible experience with these guys. I invested in their company and now I find that the plan they are explaining to me is just illegal. I am now bound with the money I invested and not getting a proper response on the customer service. Then I Googled and found that these people are pretty much involved in previous scams and now they are trying to build up their reputation through this new company. But if you Google their names you will find them all over the scam sites revealing their past history of various scams and frauding people around. It is better to stay away from them and never invest in their company. read more

Worse client support EVER. No email response during the 2 weeks and the responses are so brief that make no sense to ask them about anything. The idea behind it to charge and made you understand that no explanatory answers will be done. I have to pay 2 times the penalty as self-assesment and for my company. And be prepared the portal is not working on mac on any browser apart from safari. NOT RECOMMENDED! read more

Could not agree more with the previous comments. PayMatters is only interested in one thing, a weekly financial subscription fee. The very last thing I got from PayMatters was advice and a good service. It does not help that umbrella services are not regulated. Period read more
