Pawsitive Connections Inc is the best!!! In early 2015, my husband and I adopted 2 dogs from Pawsitive Connections Inc and we continue to be repeat adopters and a foster. My mom and friends have also adopted wonderful dogs from this hard working organization. Over the years, we have seen how this rescue gives so many dogs and puppies a second chance at life. Like many independent, nonprofit rescues they do an amazing job with very little support and resources. We have been so impressed by this rescue that we volunteer and donate as often as we can. There are so many things that we appreciate about this rescue. All their animals are spayed/neutered, micro chipped and had age appropriate vaccines prior to adoption. They are not breed/size/age specific and pull any dogs in need that they can safely house. Many of their large breed adult dogs spend months to many years with them. These large breed adult dogs take more resources to support. They also permanently support non adoptable dogs in their care who for either behavioral or medical reasons stay with the sanctuary. In addition to all this, they drive from Kingsburg to San Jose on Saturdays for a very long adoption event day. By traveling outside their immediate area they give the dogs and puppies a better chance of getting adopted. I hope more people take the time to support and thank Pawsitive Connections Inc for the great work they do.

I want to start by acknowledging that euthanizing a pet is already one of the hardest decisions a…read morefamily can make. We were in an incredibly painful situation, our dog had bitten our daughter in the face twice and needed to be euthanized for her safety. We had adopted him from a shelter, and finding a compassionate, affordable option was not easy. Shelters were at capacity, the SPCA quoted over $500, and other vets were similarly overpriced. We called Northpoint, received a price over the phone, and made the 45-minute drive from out of town, already emotionally drained. What we experienced once we arrived made a devastating day so much worse. First, upon arrival we were informed, for the first time, that we needed to bring paperwork from the shelter where we adopted our dog. No one mentioned this when we called. Staff attempted to contact the shelter themselves, said they couldn't reach them, and then told us they might not be able to help us at all. My husband had to get back in the car, drive to the shelter to retrieve immunization records, and return, adding significant time and stress to an already traumatic experience. Second, when we were finally seen, they quoted us a higher price than what we were given over the phone. They also attempted to add an urgent care fee, claiming we had been given an urgent appointment, which was not true. My husband had to push back just to get them to reconsider. When he mentioned the original price we were quoted by phone, staff told him there was nothing they could do. We were grieving. We were exhausted. We had already driven nearly an hour and a half round trip for paperwork. And Northpoint chose that moment to add surprise fees and dismiss our concerns entirely. It felt like they knew we had no other options and used that against us. I wouldn't wish this experience on any family already going through the pain of losing a pet. If you're in a similar situation, I'd encourage you to get everything, pricing and requirements, in writing before you make the trip.

In less than 2 weeks I'm seeing a completely different dog!! He's less anxious, doesn't pull on his leash anymore (literally overnight), listens to my instruction, and is well on his way to becoming a good citizen! Shayne is incredibly knowledgeable and competent in her instruction of both the dog and owner (I feel like I'm also going through training). She gives you the tools you need to continue the training when she's not there. Very willing to work with your schedule and financial ability and I'm so so glad I invested in the training she offers!!

After he spent 5 weeks with Shayne in her Board & Train program, he came back home with all those issues resolved. I'm so grateful as I'm able to take him places I hadn't dreamt of only a few months ago. Do not be afraid of the tools that are used: E-collar and prong collar. When used correctly, they're safer than other "normal" tools such as harnesses. It's also important to take Shayne's advice and keep up with the training and structure she instills in your puppy. This will make your dog's and your quality of life so much better! Thank you Shayne! I definitely recommend reaching out to her if your dog is showing any sort of behavior you'd like to correct!
