I have a Pomeranian that requires frequent grooming. My pup gets her grooming faithfully every 4 weeks by the same place and has done so for years!! She also regularly sees her vet and was seen 2 days ago by her vet of many years!! Today I had a scheduled appt with this company and the young lady shows up and takes my dog in and rings my doorbell 5 mins later to tell me that they need to "shave" my dog bc her coat is matted and has been mistreated. I advised her that I was always advised to NOT cut her hair too low bc it can permanently damage her coat so obviously I was concerned and stated that I did not want her to be cut so short and I would take her to the regular groomer and today I would settle for a shampoo and blow only. She seemed inexperienced and bothered by my response. Shortly after I got a phone call from a random number and it was the young ladies mother asking if I understood what her daughter was trying to explain about my dogs "damaged coat"! I expressed that I understood fully but I was not comfortable with her recommendation and I didn't know them as today was our first meeting and I felt more comfortable with my groomer of several years. This lady immediate got VERY RUDE and said that my groomer has been mistreating my dog and that she has obviously had bad experiences there before bc my dog seemed visibly anxious and pooped in the trailer twice (which the young lady brought to my front door and asked me to dispose of)! She later told me that if we wanted her coat to be combed out it would cost 3 times what I was quoted or they would have to shave her. When I said I wouldn't do either she informed me that she would be reporting me to animal control. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!

How bad of a grooming job was done

I thought this business was going to be great - the owner was nice at first - however when my friends rescue dog was in need of grooming badly the owner shaved her so close that she now has infected spots all over her and in pain and bleeding. When I contacted the owner just to see if she new how to treat it she turned into a BITCH - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY BEWARE

Cagney loved Deb and Kevin

We were very impressed with the care and gentleness that Deb and Kevin showed our girl, Cagney. She is losing her mobility and they accommodated her needs beautifully! We will definitely be calling them again to take care of the furry members of our family!

I switched to this groomer even though they're double the distance & quite a bit more expensive…read morethan my previous groomer because a friend recommended them, specifically saying they treated her dogs like their own. For my first appointment with my two dogs, I accidentally went to the wrong location. I called & the receptionist helped me get to the correct one. I arrived 20 minutes late, and they said they no longer had time for a full groom & could only do a mini groom. I wasn't happy, but completely understood. The night before my second appointment, they called asking me to change my appointment time to fill a gap in their schedule. I gladly rearranged my day to accommodate them. Today, 4 weeks later, I arrived for that appointment. I normally keep my dogs on a 4-week full-groom schedule & their coats short to prevent matting. When asked how I wanted them cut, I explained I wanted the same style they currently had, just shorter. The groomer cut me off, somewhat rudely, stating my dogs had never had a haircut there before. Obviously I know that. I clarified that I meant their CURRENT style/shape, taken down to half the length, and let the interaction go. After I got home, the receptionist called saying one dog was matted all over, needed to be shaved & I'd be charged a $20 matting fee. I explained that this was frustrating considering THEY chose not to cut them at the previous appointment. I understand their time constraint because I arrived 20 minutes late after going to the wrong location, but what did they expect when a doodle goes 8 weeks without a full haircut? They mat easily even with grooming every 4 weeks, which is why I keep them short. I wasn't upset that they couldn't fully groom them the first time. I wasn't even upset that she needed shaving. I was upset by how everything was handled. When they needed ME to rearrange my schedule, I accommodated them without hesitation. When they couldn't accommodate my full groom, I understood. A client/service-provider relationship goes both ways. When I picked them up, I said I wanted to see my dogs before tipping. Asking for a tip before I'd even seen the service was odd, and after the interactions that day I wanted to ensure they hadn't been accidentally nicked during the shave. I tried discussing my concerns with the groomers. Why not call me directly to discuss the situation/options? Why not attempt something like Cowboy Magic or coconut oil to demat before shaving? I was told her coat was "unsaveable," she was badly matted all over, and as the owner it was MY fault because I should brush her every day. I tried explaining I've only ever had one matting issue before & clearly know how to care for my dogs, but I was rudely interrupted every time I tried to speak and could hardly get a word in. Here's my point: If they noticed matting at the first appointment, why not say, "Hey, we noticed some matting starting. We didn't charge you because it wasn't excessive, but brushing more frequently will help prevent it & save you a matting fee next time." THAT is someone I would listen to because it feels like a partnership, rather than being treated like a neglectful owner. And today, imagine if the groomer had called and respectfully said, "Hey, I wanted to keep you informed. She's matted all over. I know your first visit was stressful after accidentally going to the wrong location, and now it's been 8 weeks since her last full haircut. We tried X/Y/Z to save the coat, but unfortunately we need to shave her. Can we make a plan together to prevent this in the future? It'll save you money & keep her comfortable." That would have been an ENTIRELY different situation. You cannot treat clients like a nuisance, tell them they don't properly care for their pets, refuse to let them speak, AND charge $110 for an 8-lb dog and $120 for a 65-lb dog. I highly suggest customer-service training for the groomers. I've never had an issue with a groomer. I normally tip 30% and even bring holiday/birthday goodies to my vet & groomers. Today, for the first time ever, I left $0--not because my dog was shaved, but because of how I was treated. A groomer-client relationship should be a partnership in caring for someone's pets. I'm not a veterinarian or groomer--that's WHY I partner with professionals to provide the best care for my babies. I drove 30 minutes out of my way and willingly paid more because I don't mind paying for better quality. You could have gained a lifelong client simply by handling this situation with communication, kindness & professionalism. DO NOT COME TO THIS GROOMER! You will be treated like you're just a number.

BEST GROOMER! I moved to Pasco County about six years ago…read moreand went to a few groomers until I thankfully discovered Happy Pet. My next-door neighbor brings his Golden retrievers there and was very happy with them so I decided to give them a try. I like to visit a few times before I do a review, and my dogs have been there probably five times now. They are German shepherds , and can be a tad unruly at times... Taking them to the groomer was always a stressful event for me in the past, but I no longer experience any anxiety. They do very good job keeping the dogs separated from other dogs, and I can tell that they enjoy what they do, and what they do is awesome! They definitely take pride in their work!, and I could not be happier with their services. Also the dogs themselves don't seem to be nearly as stressed out as they did with tother groomers used in the past. I would definitely recommend Happy Pet for anyone looking for grooming services!!

My dog is such a wimp about everything, and still wants me to carry him in, but once he is in there he roams free and loves on everyone. I guess he is like most dogs, he knows he will get a bath and blow dried and cut, so he is just a big baby, but he loves the staff there and gets treated very well there. It took a long time for me to find the right place for him and to get the services I wanted and I get it there. I do make sure he is brushed and has no mats on him before I take him, so they do not have to try and get them out while grooming him. If that happened he would be more apprehensive about going, plus it would slow them down from getting other pets ready for pickup. I love this place and so does my dog.
