I can't say enough good things about Dr. Goss and his staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital. They…read moreare very professional and extremely caring. We had 2 dogs that they cared for over several years. Our big dog developed a cancerous lesion on his face about a year ago. We watched it very closely, but it just got to be huge. He was 19 years old, and had lived a very nice life. When it got to the point that he couldn't eat without bleeding, we decided to end his misery. They worked around our work schedules and let us grieve for a very long time in the room with him. Six months later our other dog was vomiting a lot and started to get lethargic. We initially thought it was because we were traveling a lot and boarding him (along with the fact that he was sad too after losing his brother). Since he was not getting better, we took him in to get to the root of the problem. Dr. Goss did exploratory surgery and found what he thought was stomach cancer. Dr. Goss was very patient with him. He spent a week in ICU. Dr Goss checked on him twice each night after hours and called us every day with updates. When the test results came back and it was indeed stomach cancer, we were devastated. Our pup came home for 2 days, but he was just miserable. We decided to end his misery too. Once again, the staff at Prairieville Animal Hospital worked with us and our schedule to find the right time to put him to sleep. Throughout the entire ordeal, Dr. Goss called us daily. He was so sympathetic and offered such great bedside manner when we were just so sad. Our family is so very appreciative for all the time, thoughts and prayers the staff gave us throughout this awful time. Our family has only had 3 dogs. Our first lived 16 years, then these 2 lived 19 and 12 years. Dogs become such part of your family. I'm proud to say that these 2 pups had the VERY BEST CARE in the Baton Rouge area! I would strongly recommend Dr. Goss and his staff to anyone looking for a veterinarian!!

I went to this clinic with my newly adopted dog, who I later found out was very sick. When I first…read morespoke with the veterinarian, he seemed polite. But after speaking with the adoption agency, he came back into the room with a completely different attitude. He accused me of being a liar and a manipulator and even told me that he could care less about my medical condition. As someone who lives with spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, nerve damage, and multiple surgeries with rods in my neck and leg, I found this deeply offensive and cruel. I was simply trying to explain the difficulties I face as a disabled person who was not informed about the dog's medical issues before adopting. I was there to seek help for an animal in need, and instead I was belittled, humiliated, and treated with complete disrespect. No professional should speak to clients this way. I left the office in tears, and my family was appalled at how unprofessional, cold, and downright rude this veterinarian was. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone who expects compassion, respect, or basic decency.

After the first checkup, I received a call the following day from the Banfield to check up on me and my dog to see how we were doing and if we had any questions and concern which was really thoughtful. However, my follow up visit did not go so well. The veterinarians here should be more careful when handling animals especially when they have had previous experience with them before. My dog had a deep eye ulcer and my veterinarian knew that it very fragile along with his behavior towards how sensitive he was with having strangers hands near his face. I did not felt comfortable with how he was being handle during that follow up exam which resulted in his eye being ruptured and me making a quick and costly decision of what to do as my options were limited due to financial reasons. I decided to just get the eye removed. I was told the surgery went well however post recovery was a disaster as my little dog has gotten an infection and was in serious pain afterwards. Multiple reasons as to why he got an infection in the eye socket that was remove was going through my head, I had to call a local vet and an eye specialist to ask for possibilities as to what have gone wrong. I feel like the vet that handle my dog did not try hard enough because it felt like he would not have notice he would not have notice my dog was also developing another eye ulcer if I have not asked him to look. NOTE: the only reason why this review is not getting a 1 star is because Dr. Lewis and I believe the Vet Assistant Haylee are amazing people because I felt very comfortable with my dog in their care. If you ever have to resort in bringing your furry babies here, request for Dr. Lewis because she tried her best in contacting many eye specialist in the area and explained everything very well and simple for me. Haylee looked very experience with the way she handled my dog and of course handle with care by petting him and calming him down before proceeding to do anything else.

This vet office, especially Dr. A, is fantastic and really cares about their clients more than the clients pocketbook. They have made lifetime patrons of us! We take both our dog and cat to be cared for by them.
