My sweet little dog

This is the veterinarian that we need in LA! Dr. Ezra is friendly and nice and his team (shoutout to Jose and Rebecca and Diana) are all great. They take great notes, follow up quickly with enthusiasm and care and are just the BEST vet locally I've found. I feel lucky to have discovered the practice and my dog is thankful too.

I give them 10/10 stars! I recently moved to the area and was initially hesitant about switching vets because we loved our previous vet in the valley. However, a couple of months ago, my dog, Banx, needed to be seen as soon as possible. After checking Paw Priority's Yelp reviews, we scheduled an appointment and haven't looked back since. The entire staff, from the front desk to the nursing team and the veterinarian, is amazing. You can truly tell that they care about the animals they treat, and their commitment is genuine. Their prices are reasonable, and I trust their opinions completely. It's safe to say that I'll be saving time and gas now that I don't have to travel to the valley for appointments.

And your pet gets a little card the first time you go!

How could I not give a 5-star review after getting free medication for my cat and curbside service? That kind of generosity is rare these days. Please don't assume you'll get the same thing, but the fact that this was even possible tells you everything you need to know about Paw Priority -- they truly go above and beyond for their clients. Highly recommended.

first time visit was fine but seemed to get the run around after. Also Illegally records calls without your consent and then lies about it.

And would not even consider taking our kitties anywhere else. Dr. Mehta is an incredible vet. She's patient, kind and truly listens. Also, extremely knowledgeable and provides excellent care. And we adore Carlos. I look forward to seeing him every time. Whether on the phone or in person, he always handles things for us with professionalism while also being great to engage with. A big thank you to all of the staff! Look no further, go to Laurel.

I brought my dog in for updated vaccinations and an allergy shot. I want to start by saying that…read morethe front desk staff, the woman who initially brought us back, and the veterinarian were all incredibly kind and warm. They were sweet with my dog and made the visit initially feel positive. What completely changed my experience was what happened during the administration of his shots. They took my dog to the back for the injections and asked me to wait in the waiting room, saying they would bring him back out when they were done. When he was returned to me, the staff member who brought him out was immediately confrontational and rude. She told me that my dog "needs to be medicated next time" and "should not be this anxious for something so simple as getting shots." This was honestly shocking to hear. He is a dog at a veterinary office. Anxiety in that environment is not unusual, especially when being restrained and given multiple injections. I completely understand and respect the importance of staff safety and the need to handle reactive or anxious animals carefully. My issue is not that they needed to protect themselves. My issue is that when my dog became distressed, no one paused the process to communicate with me or discuss options. Instead, they proceeded without my knowledge or consent. If he became too anxious to safely continue, I should have been informed and included in the decision. We could have discussed alternatives, such as rescheduling with anxiety medication, trying the injections with me present, or choosing another approach that prioritized both safety and his wellbeing. Instead, he was muzzled without my consent, despite the fact that he has prior trauma with muzzles and reacts very poorly to them. Had I been asked, I would have told them that this would likely escalate the situation. He was brought back to me extremely worked up, with bloodshot eyes and visible bleeding on his neck and chin. I was told he had scraped himself trying to get the muzzle off. Seeing him in that state was honestly heartbreaking. What upset me just as much was the way this was communicated to me. Rather than having a respectful conversation about what happened and how to better handle future visits, I was spoken to as though my dog had done something wrong, or as though I had somehow failed by bringing in an anxious animal. This experience has deeply shaken my trust. I wish the team had prioritized my dog's emotional wellbeing and safety alongside their own, instead of focusing solely on completing the procedure at all costs. Because of this experience, I do not think I will be returning, especially knowing that this visit has likely made my dog even more fearful of veterinary care moving forward.

One thing I will say is getting my dog back was hell. I called ahead of time to let them know I want her back, waited there for an hour. Mind you she is my service dog and she was screaming in the back the entire time. Yet, the staff told me to wait.. they were busy.. Yessi one of the vet techs even came out and basically yelled at me in front of people in the lobby. Again, they have my service dog in the back who's stressing and not working and I'm stressing and probably need her to work because I was actually in medical emergency. I ended up going to the emergency room myself that night for the day I had.. I digress.. eventually the manager came out with my dog and apologized for not bringing her out sooner since she is a working dog but the damage was done. I am very grateful for the vet at mash and i am torn that it ended in Chaos.. Getting my dogs test results emailed to me was also hell, I was told they will only give it to another vet.. very very odd behavior. My dog, my money for the test and I had to basically pry it from them.. I don't understand what happened after I wanted my dog back that made them make everything a mess but..still.. If you're here trying to figure out if you should bring your pet here, yes. I recommend them. They will be honest and save your pet.. at a high price.. Maybe that whole day wasn't my day. Maybe that's the price I paid to get honest answers and to be told my dogs not gonna die. Either way, the vet was honest and that is more than we can ask for these days when it comes to vet care. PS: HUGE thank you to Bella who kept me grounded as much as she could .. you're an angel. And I will never forget your kindness. MASH is incredibly lucky to have an angel out in the lobby, to save lives she didn't even know she's saving.

And I was happy.. as I'd taken my dog there for a few emergencies and while I cant say that the customer experience was outstanding given the nature of any er visit that involves wait time, case being disregarded or downplayed, and sticker shock - the front desk had been quite accomodating. Then they hired more of these gen-zers at the front desk who just dont give an eff.. for example I was waiting 2 hrs to get an update. Just and update. Like what is going on with my dog. I followed up after 30 minutes, she went to check came back to me in 20 and said someone is gonna come update you soon. I waited another 20 minutes, asked again -- same exact answer from the same exact lady and in 10 or 15 more minutes I stormed towards the area where they keep the dogs and that same madame goes you cant go in there. i exploded on her and demanded they get me my my dog right now. turned out they heavily sedated him without my consent to give him the medicine. he could not walk and looked sleepy for hours. I understand that my dog can be difficult but.. a. consent. b. tell me what's going on! i could have just went home and came back when he was ready if the lady did her job instead of gossiping and laughing with her coworkers. I can understand and forgive many circumstances but this isnt the way to keep the repeat business. our insurance carrier paid about 15k for a few visits. I also saw a poor old lady who was charged 5k to diagnose her dying cat and I had to translate for her. No matter how much I tried to help they wouldnt budge. She couldnt believe that. That was her 2 social security checks. She weeped, she cursed them and threw the credit card at. This kind of treatment deserves the hottest chamber in hell, and I genuinely hope they shut down in the most humiliating way.

This week, however, I had an interaction that made me a little embarrassed that I have not reviewed them in the past. My very old cat had an emergency GI issue (aka the dreaded "very expensive bowel movement") -- after a long night at MASH, I brought her in to WHAH for a follow up the next day, and then for a second follow up the day after that. Doctors Hammer and Chapman were beyond excellent -- both spent an insane amount of time going over every facet of the issue and potential treatment plan (and, frankly, calming my own wrecked nerves). Gio and Karen, the techs were also fabulous -- patient not only with my cranky cat, but with me. Everyone was extremely attentive, from consultation to follow-ups (both via phone and email). They were completely patient about going over pricing (which was extremely fair, especially considering the level of service). This is the first real "medical situation" I've had with my cat -- it's been mostly check-ups to this point -- and it was a perfect example of why WHAH is such a wonderful place. I couldn't have asked for better veterinary care (with a side of human therapy thrown in). I would never want to bring an animal to any other practice in LA. I really don't have enough good things to say about the team here -- these guys are truly THE BEST.

The veterinarian Dr Kumar, who treated my friend's dog was excellent, which gave me confidence to schedule one of my cats for a visit. However, as I was leaving, I clocked a referral to an after-hours care facility that's notorious for malpractice and misdiagnoses putting pets at risk, including one of my own, and that was deeply concerning. When I brought this up to the front desk staff member, I was met with immediate EYE ROLLS and a patronizing attitude. I explained that the after-hours facility had nearly killed my cat in the past, and instead of taking my concerns seriously, the staff member dismissed me with a flippant, "people say that," and rolled her freaking eyes. This dismissive response was not only frustrating but also deeply troubling. If I'm not the first to say this based on first hand experience (FYI I'M AN ANIMAL CARE SPECIALIST) then maybe believe people! I do have a review with receipts from the horrific experience at TC! After the visit, i took a moment to reflect on that experience. I decided to cancel my appointment, I cannot support a practice that endorses sending anyone's pets to TC! When I called apparently I got the same staff member... did I get a "any reason for the cancelation?" Nope I got asked, "how is [cat's name] doing? My response "I'm taking him somewhere else." I'm not sure if she was attempting concern but it didn't come across and I have zero incentive to give any further information. This combination of an honestly dangerous referral and the front desk's dismissive attitude completely shattered my trust in the practice. I sincerely hope the practice takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements. 3 stars for Kumar, but the front desk person ruined it and I don't want my pets anywhere near someone like that!

I was willing to set aside my bad gut feeling and chalk my 1st visit up to an off day for the vet and his one staff member. So I went back for a second visit. It wasn't any better. I have subsequently learned they gave my puppy some of his shots significantly too early - so early that I had to pay for another round of shots at another vet for the vaccine to be rendered effective - and I had to chase them down for his rabies certificate. Additionally, during both visits, I overheard the vet on the phone with patients being extremely dismissive of their concerns. These calls were taken on speaker phone; one patient was having what sounded like an emergency with his dog and the vet put him on hold for several minutes while searching through a stack of disheveled papers to find the phone number of an emergency clinic. He was similarly dismissive of my questions and I felt rushed to leave. Overall, I was extremely disappointed, frustrated, and left wondering how on earth they received all these positive reviews. Personally, I would not recommend this vet to anyone. Go somewhere else.
