Ezra is the BEST vet and overall caretaker I've ever encountered. I wish he treated humans because I'd trust him with my life. He had previously saved my boyfriend and I's kitten's life after a neuter procedure gone wrong (from another vet) and so I recently brought in my 11 year old dog for treatment too. He gave me a discount on treatment because he saw I couldn't afford the full care plan and sat on the floor with my scared little boy for the inspection. We brought our 15-year-old terrier mix to Dr. Ameis during a very difficult week. She had been declining rapidly and three other veterinarians had not identified a serious issue. When I called Paw Priority, Diana initially mentioned they were fully booked, but kindly checked with the doctor and offered us a 4:30 appointment that same day. We were very grateful. From the first phone call through our final visit, the staff was compassionate and thoughtful. Dr. Ameis took considerable time reviewing her condition and clearly explaining his assessment and options. He suggested a low-risk approach to try to give her one more comfortable day. Although it ultimately didn't change the outcome, we appreciated having that time with her. When it became clear that euthanasia was the most humane choice, the process was handled with sensitivity and care. The Dr. was very honest and said for the issue my cat is having, it may not help that much, but I wanted to try it. It actually did help him a little bit. The staff and the doctor are very friendly. But, due to the issues my cat was having, I decided to continue taking my cat to the internal medicine specialist because they were a better fit for the very serious medical issues he was having. This place is truly special and Dr. Ameis is a rare find these days. His first priority is your pet's well being and you can tell he genuinely cares. My puppy had emergency surgery at a different hospital, and when I notified Dr. Ameis about it, he called me to follow up and ask how she's feeling. He spent almost 10 minutes on the phone with me, when he had no obligation to do so, and greatly calmed my nerves. Further, his pricing is transparent, and he is actually super honest about what services your dog needs/doesn't need, as opposed to most vets who just want to do everything and charge you as much as possible. I've recommended him to a few of my friends and they have ALL had great experiences. I recently made the switch to Dr Ameis from modern animal, a nearby competitor. I have two dogs with chronic health issues. I am really happy with the switch and very satisfied with Dr Ameis and Paw Priority. It is nice having the same vet each time, who knows your dogs issues. Also, Dr Ameis definitely is not in it for the money.. he doesn't push tests and leaves it up to the owner, which I appreciate. I also like the VIP membership because my pet insurance doesn't cover exam fees, and with the VIP membership there are no exam fees. I recently had an emergency with one of my dogs and I called after closing time, they happened to answer and stayed open for me! Also they let you in the back with your dog which is really nice. They are quick with providing invoices for insurance. There might be a wait sometimes (Saturdays) BUT if you come in with an emergency you'll be seen sooner, so that's the good part, knowing that your pet will be seen with urgency if needed. Dr Ames replies to emails directly & often answers the phone which is unheard of and amazing. I really feel confident with the switch I made. Highly recommend! read more

A kind, caring vet who puts your pet first. Dr. Ameis owns and runs this business. He's not part of a chain, and doesn't upsell or tell you one price and then switch it up to a larger amount later. And he doesn't try to sell you special food or other products to make more money. He treated our cat Nemo--who is a tough customer--like his own pet. Nemo is a senior cat, and Dr. Amies suggested two tests for his recent behavior changes. He showed us the cost for each test, and actually said we didn't need to get them both done right away. So honest! The clinic is spotless, and everyone on the staff was great from cool and classy receptionist Danielle, to the Vet Tech, and the X-Ray Technician. we came to this clinic in distress -- our kitten had been throwing up, and we were scared. as new cat parents, we knew something was wrong and didn't want to keep guessing without medical input. that's why we went in. the vet gave him a quick look, said it could be "a lot of things," gave a one-time injection, and told us to try a prescription diet. no diagnostics. no medication for nausea. no plan other than "if things get worse, follow up." it was vague, dismissive, and in hindsight, not nearly enough. when we did follow up -- with multiple emails including photos of pink-colored vomit -- no one responded. not one reply. to this day, we've never gotten an answer about what was wrong with him or why his vomiting escalated like that. we had to push for every next step ourselves. while we were there, the vet offered to take a quick look at our second kitten too, who had been struggling with congestion. we figured great -- two birds, one stone. he acknowledged the congestion was unusual given the kitten had supposedly recovered from an earlier URI, so he prescribed a basic antibiotic. no testing. no further evaluation. and of course, the insurance didn't want to cover it because there was no diagnostic evidence. we weren't given options. we weren't walked through alternatives. it felt like a shot in the dark -- just to say something had been done. then came the unnecessary tests -- including a poop exam we didn't even request. parasites were never our concern, and they didn't explain why it was needed, just charged us for it. and guess what? they never even called us with the results. we had to call them days later. when we asked why no one had told us, they said they did -- which was a lie. no voicemail, no missed call, nothing. the girl on the phone just said "oh, sorry for the confusion." imagine if this had been life-threatening. what if our cat did need immediate medication? they would've let it slide under the radar -- and we wouldn't have even known. their whole vibe is "we're not corporate, we care more, we don't push products" -- but in our case, it was the opposite. they charged us for unclear services, gave vague information, and never once followed up on their own. even when we demanded anti-nausea meds weeks later, they brushed it off -- then promised the prescription over the phone and never sent it. they were consistently slow, careless, and difficult to deal with. on top of that? zero flexibility with payments. we had to pay everything up front, even when medication was delayed, or service was incomplete. they're quick to charge, slow to act, and absolutely rigid if you need help affording the care. we had to manage everything ourselves -- chasing invoices, calling for prescriptions, following up over and over -- while their team acted like we were an inconvenience for just trying to care for our pets. and no, our cats didn't look like emergency cases -- but that shouldn't matter. healthcare should be proactive, not reactive. just because something isn't urgent doesn't mean it's not serious. and just because we're new to this doesn't mean we deserved to be dismissed. bottom line: this clinic made us feel like we were the only ones taking our pets' health seriously. they took our money, gave us scraps of care, and left us confused, worried, and still without answers. i'd give it zero stars if i could. avoid if you can. read more

Everyone from the front desk to the Dr were so lovely and helpful. I tried to get an appt with the 2 other regular vets I have and they were booked. I found this place by googling and seeing the great reviews. I went there because my puppy had diarrhea and was very restless. I called up in the morning and they had an opening right away. I live very close so it was great. Dr Amies took his time and didn't try to push any excess procedures. He even explained what things would cost prior to me agreeing. He gave my dog a bunch of probiotics and an intravenous fluid for the slight dehydration, which I wanted to get. The place is immaculate and I even saw the back when he was getting the fluid. These days, if you have an emergency, it's not always easy to get same day appts. I was so grateful and my dog is already feeling better. The charges were reasonable. They are open all week and every other Sat 10-2. Easy street parking. read more
