Miguel Bermudez of Skyline Construction Group. We wanted to…read morehave an addition to our home which included expanding our existing kitchen and adding a covered and an uncovered deck. This entailed taking down the wall between the living room and the existing kitchen and then taking up all the deck space and making that the new kitchen then adding a covered porch and deck. We did a lot of research and called several contractors who never returned our call. We came across Miguel's company, Skyline Construction Group . Although he was not a contractor himself, he used a relative or a friend's license to do work and he also hired subcontractors in their designated areas to do flooring, plumping, electrical ... Initially he was responsive to our questions and phone calls, he came over and we discussed what we wanted to have done. He was confident and seemed knowledgeable about everything construction. He also stated he had done jobs like this before. He seemed like a put together dude and trustworthy. We decided to go for it and hire him. From the beginning: He estimated a fair price however, we wanted to make sure everything was written down in the contract prior to any signature. So, we itemized everything from the flooring, tile, counters, cabinets... things we were going to buy, things he was responsible for... we tried very hard to think about all the things we will need but we are not contractors and how the order of things should go. We emailed him the itemized list and he took it, added his company headings and signature line and resend it back to us to sign off. The payments were broken into three, 1/3 at the beginning of, 1/3 in the middle and one after the last inspection. The contract stated that it will take 7-9 weeks to complete, this included getting the county permits. We thought wow, he must work fast and he has a great crew to achieve such a thing. So, we signed on the dotted line and gave him our first payment. He was informed that we are going to be living and working in our home during construction and we also have several pets. So when he told us about the quick turn around we appreciated it, since it was close to winter. He told us they will start demo of our old deck right a way until we get the permits from the county. 3 weeks after the contract was signed, no one came, we didn't hear from him at all. We just thought it's taking longer than usual due the county back log. Then we called him and he made up some excuse that his workers are doing another big project and they will come as soon as that was done. We should have just said goodbye then. Here are the highlights: - Never here to manage the work, we were the project managers - The subcontractors never knew what they needed to do when they arrived - Forgot to tie the old house to the new - Did the window three times due to lack of communication with his crew - Ordering cabinets without measuring, three times - Four different electricians, due to lack of payments - Never pays his workers what he owes them - Subcontractor(s) threatened to file a lien on our property due to lack of payment, we had to intervene multiple times - He lies about ordering materials - He demoed the outside wall, and left us exposed to the elements in the winter months, he ignored our calls and never came back to close it up for weeks - Said he ordered the granite that we wanted and didn't and we lost those slabs and he didn't even have the decency to call us about it. He send his friend to deliver the bad news. - Weeks go by without anyone showing up to do any work - Never ordered a dump truck which he kept promising. So, we had piles of trash and materials living in our front yard the entire time, we are still picking up screws! - Forgot to insulate the addition - Pot light was covered with dry wall - Redid the ceiling and it still warped and cracked - Left old insulation in the attic - The outdoor rail and banister was rebuilt three times, not up to code - Bad management, horrible communication skills, didn't return calls, ignored us - Rain gutters leak - Never bolstered the area underneath the house where the previous AC unit was and now the floor gives when you walk on it. The project took from September 2023 to July 2024 and we had to give him an ultimatum either he finishes at the end of July or we start charging him $1,000 for each additional day he's late, he still finished a day late!! We were the ones who managed the entire project and had to tell him about all the things that were wrong and needed fixing. I thought long and hard about writing this review but at the end I didn't want him to take advantage of another family.

Coordinated really well at the beginning but then stood me up and didn't respond to my messages or…read morephone calls on when he wanted to meet. I can't tell you if there's good value in his work because he didn't show up.
