We came for a day trip to Tavira because I saw some pictures of the pink salt pans and wanted very much to visit. We took the train to Tavira and then started wandering around the city, hungry for lunch. Being a small town on the east side of Algarve it's not as famous as its more westerly sisters so I didn't get to research much on where to eat.
We wandered away from the main streets, thinking that we'll find restaurants with better quality and price off the touristy paths and came upon Pausa.
This place offers tapas style dining, which is great as the two of us can sample a variety of dishes. The vegetables are mostly around €5 and meat dishes €10 or more. They have a few outdoors seating.
Later I learned that Pausa is opened by a mother & daughter who came to holiday in Tavira from Bogotá, Colombia, and loved it so much that they stayed and opened the restaurant in 2015. Pausa, as you may guess, means Pause - to sit back, savor some good food and wine, share time with friends and just enjoy life.
