On a recent trip to Spain I was very motivated to find good, authentic food and to stay away from tourist traps. So, of course, I did my research and based on recommendations from reviewers on the internet and the NYT food section, I decided to go to Paulinos. It was not an easy decision since this restaurant is located in a part of Madrid that is not easily accesible to tourists, but the reviews were compelling...
Let me say: The food was AMAZING, OUTSTANDING (my mouth is literally salivating as I write this review) as was the service. Our waiter did not speak a word of English (and he may have even been the owner) but through drawing and gesticluating out the items on the menu we had a good idea of what we were ordering. The prices were very reasonable as well, for about 30E we had crab cakes and the most delicious wonton wraps stuffed with shrimp sitting in a red cream sauce..delicious. i could have had 3 orders of the wonton shrimp rolls and eaten them by myself! There wasnt another english speaking person in the place so i know it was authentic. it wasnt even that hard to find once we got on the subway. try it, you wont regret it. read more
