If you are planning a party and need things in bigger quantities there is a good chance you will find it here. Big tubs of olives, yogurts and so on. This is the daddy of all EDEKAs...large and well-stocked with a beautiful presentation. The fresh produce is beautiful here...and, there's plenty of organic. There's a butcher and deli counter with a huge variety of meats, fish, cheeses, etc. Need to clean your toilet? Socks? Beer (of course...you're in Germany for crying out loud)? They'll have it. And, candy...a hell of a lot of candy. Wow, Germans like candy...which makes me like Germans just that much more. There's even a small Chibo section. If we're looking for something unique, we come to EDEKA. We do not (usually), however, get the staples (milk, non-gourmet cheese and deli meats, etc.) here because it's pricier than the local discount grocery stores. For example...we bought pine nuts here for $3.69 and found them the next day at the local discount grocery store for $1.69. That warrants some shopping planning. I still love EDEKA. Due to on-going COVID restrictions this was one of the only few possible places open for business…read morein the old town of Rothenburg o. d. T. with some to-go food when we visited in December 2020. I didn't have any issues with the service provided. They were allowing only one customer at a time in this small shop, so when it came to my turn I was able to be served rather quickly. For to-go items, they only had a few "hot" food available--leberkäse, bratwursts, etc. Compared to what I'm used to, the slice of leberkäse was rather thin...only about 1/4 in. rather than usual 1/2 to 3/4 in. Brats were rather cold--a telltale sign of them sitting there for a while. On the contrary, brotchen/buns on which meats were on were pretty good--crunchy outside and soft inside--just the way I like them. At a glance it looked they offered a very wide variety of sausages available in this shop, but we didn't try or buy anything...this time.
