I would like to share my decorating experiences with you all, I hope this will be of some use. With regards to painting and decorating, it tends to be one of those jobs which we all believe we can do ourselveshow hard can it be? we thinklets do it ourselves, save a few quidyes, I have certainly done a bit of painting myself. This is how it generally turns out:
Lets choose a colourbanal trip to the local hardware store to grab some colour cards.
Colour cards left on the to do pile for a couple of weeks. Then remember to choose colour so another arduous trip to the hardware store. There, we are presented with all manner of confusing painting jargon. Do we want Matt? Silk? Eggshell? Satin? We don't really know of course, so opt for Matt as a safe bet.
The day arrives to start decorating. So we decant the room of furniture, grab a roller and enthusiastically start to cover the walls. This is quite therapeutic I think, smugly why on earth would anyone pay a tradesman to do this?
An hour latermy arm is tired, I have paint in my hair, I am rapidly becoming less than enthused. However, I am keen to finish before my partner arrives home from work.
Two hours later, I am fed up and have a break.have only managed to coat a couple of walls once, with a mixture of rollering and brushing. I hate to admit it to myself, but it looks a bit of a slap/dash effort.
The above continues for 3 or 4 days. I am fed up. My partner is fed up. The house is a mess with all the furniture excess and I am desperate for this DIY nightmare to end. In the meantime I have paintbrush hair in the glossing, fingerprints where I have tried to pick them out and stripes in the rest of the glossing.
If you can relate to the above scenario, please read on. It took me a few botched painting attempts for me to admit that maybe, it really was time to call in a professional.
So I did, I obtained a free written quotation from a friendly, local tradesman by the name of Paul, who runs a small decorating company which can be found at http://www.paultinsleydecorating.com . He was very knowledgeable about the different products available and the pros and cons for using these products on my walls. I was very impressed with the price we agreed and we liaised to agree a date to complete the work. The tradesmen arrived on the agreed date and commenced work, I took the kids out for the day and returned to a complete delight! The room was decorated perfectly, the finish and overall look was polished and professional and my house was left clean and tidy. I cannot commend my tradesman enough and will never allow my house to be decorated in my obviously amateur and scruffy efforts again!! read more
