Patty Ang is a brave soul. At the tender age of 22, she knows that she has to take risks in order to be truly happy. Being nurtured under the wings of her father, visionary Felix Ang of CATS Motors, she had always been living closest to the world of trade and commerce. However, Patty decided to stray from the corporate world she has grown up in to pursue her true passion in fashion and the arts. A month after graduating with a degree in Behavioral Science at the De La Salle University, Patty enrolled in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines to enter the world she has always been dreaming to conquer. It was there where she took up courses in Fashion Design, Pattern Making, and Sewing among others for four months.
Patty was on a pursuit to find the clothes that would flatter her body well, and that was how she started designing clothes. She wanted to have clothes that she could truly wear. "I'm more of the simple, classic type. I don't really follow much on trends. I just have my own personal style, and that's where people go with me. I'm simple because if you see my designs, my designs are all simple, plain, classic, and it's timeless. You can just wear and wear them again," she says.
She also leans toward the color white as she believes that it is also like the black.
Moreover, she believes that the fabrics used for the pieces make a huge difference to be distinguished among the other designers. A traveler herself, Patty sources for fabrics from other countries and brings these back to the Philippines to be used for her designs. She also looks for design inspirations at the same time. read more
