I purchased a home from Patterson Home Sales in Truro NS. This process has been a nightmare, to say the least. I finally was able to move in my home June 8th of last year, when realistically I should of been in it, that April. It got to the point where I had to hire a lawyer because they weren't budging and blaming everyone else for their mistakes and I needed to move in. This is how they get you, they know the customer needs to get in their home and will not budge whether work is completed or not, as long as they get your money. Nevertheless, the work that should of been done has yet to be completed and here it is July 14th 2019.
The builder of the home Ironwood Manufactured Homes in Woodstock New Brunswick. At the time I was purchasing the home it was then called Hospitality Homes, same location. They changed names last April.
The two companies have been a nightmare!
First, prior to moving in, there were problems. Wall oven was suppose to be 30" and they gave me a 27". Then I'm sternly told by Pam and Joel that I wasn't suppose to order my appliances until after I move in. I had to educate them that the wall oven had to be installed in order for the building inspection to pass. Might I add that it didn't pass the first building inspection and it had nothing to do with a wall oven.
They also sent screenshots of phoney emails of things that I had supposedly ordered or agreed for my home. Emails complete different then what I had. They only sent screenshots and wouldn't forward it after several attempts by my lawyer. Couldn't forward it because the emails never existed! Also, check the codes on your contract!
I also paid for the turnkey package and was promised that the home would be completely cleaned and ready to move in. Trust me it wasn't . She was here for 2 days and either day, she had no water!! No wonder it wasn't clean. I'm still not quite sure what she did here for two days.
My contract said the home includes cost of blinds and will be delivered with home. They weren't. I had to get a lawyer and fight for them all last summer, only to receive them the end of summer when the heat was gone.
Their contractor came a few times, never completed the work and since December he won't return messages nor phone calls.
Customer service all around is horrible, I have had better customer service picking out toothpaste. After Christmas I emailed Pam from Patterson and asked what was going on with completion of work. She told me she thought it was completed because she had paid the bill to the contractor. Haha, I told her that as a business person I would think you would have gone through the lists and invoice to make sure everything was completed. not just write cheque's.
If anyone has drove by my home, especially on a windy day, you probably have seen the siding flapping. It does this on both sides now. It has been coming off since they delivered the home. After numerous emails that I have sent since last fall they told me last week that they were sending a contractor here Monday, tomorrow. The same contractor that they sent May 25th from NB to do the work and absolutely not one thing was done. They didn't even notify me until 7pm Friday night, that he would be there the next day at 9am, Saturday., only to come do another 'list' .
Well, he just called to say he is in Truro and will be here tomorrow sometime. I told him that I emailed Mark to let him know that the levelling on the home was not on the list and that has to be done first before the siding is replaced. That is what the contractor told me! Kevin, the contractor then proceeds to tell me that he is going to take a look at the siding because he thinks the skirting might have been on too tight!! That it's not a siding problem....oh it's a siding problem alright! On both sides.
Kevin, you have already looked at it, so have several people! It's not rocket science people. Once again the siding isn't getting fixed! When it is windy you can't even sleep in either bedroom because of the siding banging.
I am beyond frustrated with these companies and have heard from other clients treated unfairly from them as well
The workmanship on this home in particular is awful, for a new home it shouldn't look like secondhand material used... quality??? Right
They are always looking for a 'list'. You can keep sending them but they won't do the work. My tub was leaking for about 5 months before they came fixed it. The plumber showed me the place it was leaking and said the hose probably had a crack in factory or shipping and gradually got bigger from use. Since it took them so long to come fix it there was water damage done to the vanity, baseboard and the front panel just fell off, it was glued...no nails. Also, bathroom tiles by tub are turning black, I can only imagine what is happening underneath the tub and they won't do anything about it.
Found out last week that Patterson said they didn't receive my year end that was mailed May 27th. read more
