I usually always stop at this liquor store with my family after shopping at Shop Rite and never have a problem. Overall it's a very clean and organized place, and the employees are usually very nice and helpful. I decided to stop by today after grocery shopping with my boyfriend and sister to buy some rum. When we went to pay, the guy at the register told us that we couldn't buy alcohol unless everyone in our party was over 21 and had ID on them. Both my boyfriend and I are over 21 and had our ID, but my sister is not over 21, and because of this we weren't allowed to buy the alcohol. We were told that unless her parent or guardian was present, we couldn't buy the alcohol and that even if we came back without her later, we still wouldn't be allowed to buy alcohol from their store for the rest of the day. So essentially, if you're over 21 and are seen with a minor in this store, you get banned from buying alcohol from their store for the rest of the day. He said that next time we should just "leave her in the car" if we want to buy alcohol from their store, and that it's their policy to assume that we're buying alcohol for minors if they're present with us. If this is the store's policy, that's completely fine. It's their business and they're allowed to make whatever rules they want. But at the very least, all of this information should be listed somewhere either outside or inside of the building. The door to the building only has a sign that says that any minors under 21 must be accompanied by an adult to enter, and that's it. It doesn't state that you won't be allowed to buy liquor if you happen to be with a minor under 21 who is not your child. Had I known this, I would've saved myself the trouble and embarrassment and just traveled elsewhere to buy liquor. Needless to say, I won't be coming back here again. Hopefully they update their store and post some flyers to reflect these guidelines, so that other shoppers are aware before wasting their time here. read more
