Pop A Top is one of those classic Gainesville convenience stops that somehow manages to feel like a…read moreneighborhood hangout. The beer selection is surprisingly broad for a small shop, with plenty of local brews and rotating options that make it easy to grab something new each visit. Prices are fair, and the staff keeps the place running smoothly even when it gets busy. What really sets it apart is the vibe -- relaxed, unfussy, and very Gainesville. Whether you're picking up a quick drink before heading downtown or stocking up for a low‑key night, Pop A Top is reliable, friendly, and exactly what you want from a local corner store.

Walking in, it gives a corner store/bodega vibes. They are known for their vegan and vegetarian sandwich options. While I had my eyes on the hot dogs, I decided to go with the smoked tofu sandwich - which the staff said was highly recommend due to the vegan chipotle mayo sauce. I waited for about 5 minutes or so for my sandwich which was about $13. The standouts were the smoked tofu and the chipotle sauce. The tofu was flavorful almost like smoked paprika and some spicy. The chipotle was very creamy and great component to the sandwich. I wish they would've toasted the sandwich as the vegan cheese is just an afterthought. I do want to come back for the hot dogs and other sandwiches here. Vegans and vegetarians in the Gainesville here, this is the spot for you.

I discovered Gate this past semester and am so happy I did! Located right by my apartment, it is…read moresuper convenient. Gate is a fairly new gas station and is really nice. The inside is always kept clean and the staff is super nice. Seriously, their staff is super friendly. There have been multiple occasions where they have gone out of their way to help me. Gate's selection of snacks is top notch as well. I find that they carry a lot more options than Wawa down the road. Along with their greater selection of snacks, they offer a lot more hot or made-to-order options as well. They are always restocking things too, so you will most likely find what you are looking for. While I don't own a car in Gainesville, this is a gas station and has pumps, not just food! Haven't used the bathrooms, but I'd guess they are clean. One of the main reasons I've started coming here more often (aside from their awesome food selection) is their frozen yogurt. This particular Gate offers frozen yogurt. You don't pay by the weight either. They offer small cups for customers to fill up with as much froyo they can fit. There are about 6 flavors to choose from, although 2 of them haven't been available when I've come. Along with the frozen yogurt, there is a toppings bar. While the toppings selection isn't huge, it is sufficient and provides most of what you would need. Toppings include a small variety of chocolate candies, cookies, sour gummies, cereals, boba, and drizzles. I will also note the toppings bar has always been very clean each time I've visited. The frozen yogurt is about $5 for a cup. All the cups are the same size. I absolutely love coming in here to get froyo as there isn't any close to campus. Some other things I thoroughly enjoy from Gate are their food options. My favorite being their cookies, which come in a pack of two. The cookies are baked fresh daily and taste amazing. I've never had a gas station cookie that wowed me this much. I highly recommend the chocolate chip, but the white chocolate macadamia is good too. Sometimes if they are out a particular flavor, you can ask the desk and the kitchen might be able to help you out! On one occasion I was able to get my hands on freshly baked chocolate chip cookies just by asking if anymore were available. This is also an example of how great their staff is!! This is a lengthy review for a gas station, but I love Gate! They offer an awesome selection of snacks and drinks you cannot find at Wawa or Publix. They even have pints of BlueBell ice cream available. While the frozen yogurt is undoubtedly one of the reasons I come here. I would stop by to enjoy their cookies ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. The staff is awesome, the inside is kept clean--what more could you want?

The gloved cashier is nice and takes my money for the drink. I snap pics all over and another worker asks me why. I tell him it is for Yelp and he smiles and says that he hopes it makes more customers come in. I told him that that's the idea, and walked back out to my car. I watxhed them build this place from scratch, and it is rlas roomy as it is impressive. Drinks, donuts, coffee, frozen yogurt, and more! Check this place out while it is still sparkling! It is much different than other gas stations! Plus, the gas was like $2.19/gal!! What!?

I know there is a worker shortage and all, but just got a big order and it wrong all kind of ways…read more First off, no quinoa to make the brisket bowl and they waited until we checked in then asked do we want rice or mashed potatoes. Then, only got one kids meal, not two, so we were waiting while they made that. Then got home and the bowl was actually not a brisket bowl, and instead was a black bean bowl with spicy stuff in it. So I paid like three dollars extra for the brisket, but I did not get any brisket. Tried to call and was on hold a while, then the system hung up, then called again, and on hold a while and person answered and hung up, them called again and so much on hold, and that time stayed connected and they gave me a refund. What a bummer. The whole reason I did WaWa was that they have all these brisket items that are new. Gonna try again but maybe try for brisket mac n cheese, which is brisket on top of mac n cheese. Anyway, WaWa is good for food, but I would definitely say that you should only order one item and then definitely open it and poke around with a fork and make sure that you actually got what you ordered, instead of it got mixed up with someone else's order. A big order (7 things) was way too complicated. So... The food: The plain burger with all the free fixings (that are not spicy) was amazing. I think the sweet peppers did it. Also got sweet pepper cherry sauce, which looks gross in the pic and was super drippy but tasted great. The plain burger with bacon looked amazing. Child that ordered that was angry that he did not get a kids meal although he had picked burger and fries. He ate all of it, though. Lol Kids meals were ok. I got them for little kids. They are halves of subs and have a little and are better for older kids. I would say 5 and up. For little kids the shredded lettuce can be messy. Chicken penne was not so exciting. The Alfredo sauce was definitely flour based. It has cooked pasta and chicken and steamed cherry tomatoes served on a bed of fresh spinach. There is no way to customize with fancy stuff, but if you get nacho chips, you can order sauces for those in a cup on the side and so can customize anything that way. It is an expensive way to customize, but when I've eaten at WaWa in a group, it's a good way to get lots of sauce for all the dishes. The brisket bowl... I think they got my order mixed up with a vegetarian because I got a black bean bowl with no brisket. It also had fried pickles in it, and think I had maybe ordered pickles, but definitely did not have an option for fried, so I think I got someone else's fancy order. What a bummer. It tasted good, but had got cold by the time I got through on phone to find out do I have to exchange or show it. By the way, all the WaWas are great for travel and quarantining. You can order on the app and it's like 10 min until pickup and they do curbside. Great for getting a half gallon of milk and simple groceries with no minimum order. And, for locations with outdoor seating (this one has outdoor seating), which is good for stopping for lunch while on the road because can order and then get the food and eat outside. Because this is in Gainesville (I think) they have paper compostable bowls and burger clamshells. This did not do well with the alfredo sauce and drippiness of the chicken dish, like I didn't feel it was great for leftovers overnight. Fine to get home though.

Decent sandwich and good drink choices with the Coke Machine. Staff was quick and kind.read more
