We've never remodeled a bathroom before so we asked some of our friends and neighbors for recommendations. Much to our surprise, three of them recommended the same company, College City Design, Build and Remodel. We called them and Dale, one of the owners came out. He didn't seem like a salesman. He wasn't trying to get us to make a decision and sign a contract. Rather, it was quite the opposite. He asked questions, took a lot of notes and asked if we would like to have Rebecca, their Lead Design Consultant stop by and help us with some design ideas. She really had some great ones. Then she scheduled selection meetings for everything we were replacing and she was terrific. We met with other remodeling companies but they didn't seem nearly as professional or as trustworthy. College City wasn't the cheapest but we were more concerned with our new bathroom being functional for our needs and the quality of workmanship rather than entrusting our home to a company that we didn't feel as comfortable working with or one that might not do things quite right just to give us a lower bid. We are delighted with our decision to select College City for a variety of reasons. Dale, the owner, kept each and every promise that he made. At first, my wife was concerned about dust but they did a great job of covering the floor leading to the bathroom and installed a floor to ceiling plastic cover around the work area. When they were done, they cleaned everything around the work area and it was spotless. Buzz, the Project Manager was better than we could have ever imagined and he's really a good guy. If we had a question or concern, he was immediately responsive. Every facet of the job was done to our complete satisfaction and we will definitely use them again if we have another remodeling project.

College City flunks out. This company was more like fraternity row. The level of disrespect and…read morecarelessness only continued to grow. The owner could have cared less about how his brand was being represented and instead blamed the homeowner for every failing of his project manager Buzz ( they only have 2 pm so you get a 50/50 chance of getting this guy.)On day one they caused the ceiling to leak because Buzz forgot the premise of the remodel. Then Buzz put the plumbing on the wrong wall because "he forgot". Then the carpenter installed things blatantly crooked and required three visits to fix. Then they forgot to have the painter come out until everything was installed, thus requiring three sessions to fix paint that was done sloppily or not at all. They has no idea when employees didn't show up without us telling them.Then they hung the lights upside down requiring another visit. When things were questioned the pm Buzz would blow it off, say he forgot or yell at me in my own home saying;" I don't care" over and over. Buzz then mistakenly sent derogatory texts to me that were intended to other employees about us. When I brought that to the attention of the company, they also couldn't care less that this is how paying customers are treated. When we thought it was finally over, the plumbing didn't work so an inspector and plumber needed to come out. The company tried to blame us until the plumber said it was most likely them leaving the drain uncovered during the project that caused the inevitable. Just another careless step by this company. When our concerns were expressed ,and rightly so, there was never accountability even though at time they would apologize. When we brought another tradesmen in he was disgusted by the sight he saw and the carelessness. So much for "treating us like we were the only one they were working with." Perhaps since out remodel wasn't bringing in as much $$ we were not as important? When my mom fell on their tart breaking her hip, we learned from the caregivers that they should have been able to take it down each night, but chose not to. They were told at signing not to smoke on premise due to severe allergy ( epipen) and they did it anyway because Buzz for got to tell anyone. The list goes on.Perhaps they shouldn't take on more clients than they can remember. MY advice is to skip the college boys and go to the professionals.

This is my third experience with Millersburg Construction. They have all been okay except for two…read morethings: 1. I had a roof replaced after a hailstorm. The folks who were staying there at the time worked night shifts, sowhen Millersburg called to confirm the time and date, I said it would work as long as they came after 8:30 in the morning. The pounding started at 7:00 a.m. 2. I needed a roof replacement on my home property following a tornado. For some reason they painted the roof turbine to match the roofing materials , and that paint has long since peeled off. It would have looked better had they just left it. Even worse, is that the paint is now peeling off the fascia . I think this must be substandard materials , because I believe the material came prepainted. I recently contacted both the person who set up the work, and the person at the construction company who deals with these things. To date, I've not heard back from either one.

The communication and responsiveness to executing our requests was outstanding. Any issues that came up were quickly remedied and handled appropriately. We debated on taking on this project ourselves however quickly realized out timeline would get pushed way out. In addition, we needed work to be done so I could host Thanksgiving so there definitely was a drop dead date. This group shined. When you do a major remodel and choose to live in the house through it, many challenges arise. Our first day was demo-day. The path of plastic they built to minimize the dust was an architectural marvel. I felt like I was walking through a quarantine tunnel. Given they are in your house for several weeks, it was an incredibly professional crew. Friendly conversation, validating decisions, asking when new questions arise, working hard, and beautiful artistry of their skills were experienced each day. Changes in design were met with a can-do attitude (we decided to raise our shower head late in the game). When new options arose (new shelf in shower inset) they asked if we'd be interested. Scheduling was always coordinated with our need and one result was that we minimized our time out of the house when all of our hardwood floors were redone. This builder has exceptional relationships with cabinet makers, tile shops, and carpet and appliance stores which makes choosing options much easier. Because of those relationships we had top notch service in each store and all the help we needed in making the right choices. I can't say enough about the positive experience and the process of this complex remodeling. Dan, Dave, Jesus, David, and Carlos, stop over anytime. I'm happy to make another pan of lasagna for lunch and catch up.

I had my garage floor coated in July of 2020. For some reason the guys completing the work did not…read morecomplete part of the base board. When I asked about it the guy argued with me and told me he could not do it as it was in the back of the garage. I called the company about this and told them they also put floor coating prints on my new garage trim. He said they would come out and complete the base and see if they could get the marks off the trim. I have called numerous times and have been assured me I was still on the list and they haven't forgotten about me - Numerous times. Over two years later, I'm calling BS. When I called earlier this year I also explained it looked like part of the floor might be peeling (or about to peel). They assured me they would also take a look at that. I strongly suggest you hold payment until you are absolutely certain the work is complete and satisfactory.
