Be careful. Don't know about auto repair, but at $12 a mile, it is more expensive to get a tow from them than it was in DC.

On 2/11/2025, I dropped off my vehicle via tow truck. I showed up and talked with the shop about…read morewhat we felt the issue was with my car and that I had the part. I then received a call that stated I had purchased the wrong part, and they were ordering a new one - Great. The correct part was ordered, which was delayed because of a snow storm. They get the part, and go to put it in, finding that the lower radiator hose was actually not the issue, but it was the upper radiator hose. Ok, great let's fix it. They ordered it and again we waited. A few days passed and no word. I called and asked what was going on. Now, it is not the hoses, but the water pump housing is leaking. So we order that part. We waited. No calls from them, so I called again. Then, I'm told they got the water pump housing in, did another pressure test and there is a leak in the radiator itself. So yes, now we have to order that and get it installed. (Mind you when the first hose was reported to not be the issue I was told it was not installed). Finally my car is ready. I go to pick it up, and I question the first hose being installed still. After a lot of back and forth, I just said forget it and paid for the work. But not one time did they make the effort to call me first, not one time did I know what was going on. Then, I get told they did an oil change - not sure why because I didn't ask for it - and charged me $132 for an oil change, which I could have had done up the street for $54. Then I am told there is no gas in the car and that the battery is weak. I said I never had issues with the battery before I came. Well after coming home and my car sitting for one day, we have to replace the battery. As we replace it, we see that is was obviously not the battery we had and was one that someone attempted to cover up that they had done some battery work. Funny thing is I knew something had been done because all of my setting in my car were gone. They had my car for 1 month, I paid over $2400 to get it back, not including the 4 weeks of rental, and now a $200 battery. The lack of accountability is astonishing because I said something about the lack of communication and it was brushed off. Their billboard says Small Town Feel Big time service or something like that. Negative. A small town company should have much better service, they are not that busy that a call to me wasn't made. So they may be good at doing something quick, but most shops are going to run that pressure test prior to replacing anything and not just replace part after part after part. I called another shop and was advised that when the pressure test is done it gives the indication of where all leaks are, not just one at a time. So was this done to inflate my bill? Who knows. I do know I won't be back and I will use the best part of living in a small town - everyone will know everything. Price gouging, lack of customer service, switching out batteries, just not a good look. BBB and licensing bureau will be notified.

We had just traveled from Kansas to North Carolina which was a good 16 hours of driving. That was when we discovered that our brakes on my uncles' Ford Edge were going out. Being from out of town and not knowing where to go when you are having car problems can be very nerve wracking. But, heard about Calibrated Auto and gave them a call. One of the sweetest gals I have ever met answered the phone that morning and had us come in right then. After visiting with Kathy and explaining our situation she went straight back to the guys in the back and they pulled the car in right then. She had offered to take us back to the hotel that we had stayed in the night before but we had already checked out. And at that revelation, Kathy offered up her OWN CAR to use if we needed to go somewhere. Who does that?! Especially to a complete stranger!! We stayed and visited with Kathy the entire time and never felt like we were in the way or a bother! After a good solid 3 hours, they had us up and running again! The entire crew there will never know how appreciative my uncle and I are for getting us in at the last minute and making us feel so welcome and allowing us to get back home safe. *I hope you all enjoyed the donuts!*

At the time,…read morewe didn't know it was the alternator until we replaced the battery and checked it at the local Auto Zone. I then googled mechanics near me. OBX Affordable Automotive Repair was one of the top shops. I read the reviews and told my husband that we should drive over. I have to say that Jeff is an impressive mechanic! He got us in, replaced the alternator in about 2 hours! He's an honest, straightforward person. We genuinely appreciate him helping us out in this situation being so far away from home. Would definitely recommend! Thanks Jeff!

Since we would be going home in a few days, we looked for an auto repair place convenient to us. Automotive repair shops are always a scary proposition as who know who is honest and who isn't. After checking out my trusty YELP, I came across Jeff. I called and he immediately responded. He said that he had several cars to look at but to text him about my car and situation so that he wouldn't forget about me. Several hours later (which I was fine with), he told me to come the next day at 10 am. When I arrived, Jeff immediately looked at my car and said it was my exhaust system and could need a new one. He said he did not do that but had someone around the corner who could do that. He then hopped on the dolly and looked under my car and said the exhaust must have dislodged when we went through the water puddle. He said he could weld it for us and the charge was only $70. I thought this automotive visit could easily been a big downer for our vacation but Jeff was honest and efficient and made a great experience. If you are on vacation or a native, use Jeff. You'll be glad you did. Thanks Jeff!
