I have suffered from allergies and asthma most of my life, and I have had little relief. While talking with a co-worker, the co-worker recommended seeing Dr. Ashok Patel in Pueblo. I have to admit that I was a little skeptical since no one was able to assist me in the past. After meeting with Dr. Patel and receiving treatment, I felt so much better. Even to the point of working out again. I have been able to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. I no longer fear the dreaded allergy season. I came in with a really bad rash all over my arms, chest, and back. I had already went to the ER and my primary and was referred to Dr. Patel for further examination. His staff was quick to set an appointment and my first time was a little long of a wait. Which Dr. Patel apologize to me personally for the long wait. So very friendly :) I was given a new script to try and I have to change my lifestyle a little bit, but he was very explanatory about my situation and what I should do to get better. I returned to his office for a ski. allergy test a week later, and my rash was already over 90% gone. The skin test was done and I had a copy to take home with me that day. I had never been to an Allergist before, but self-referred myself to Dr. Patel due to a long-term chronic cough that I had, and the good reviews on-line. I thought the cough might be allergy related. Dr. Patel was very thorough and took the time needed to address my needs. He ruled out allergies, but suspected that my blood pressure medication may be contributing to the cough. He prescribed some inhalers and told me to discuss my blood pressure medication with my PCP. Finally received relief from my cough with the medication change combined with the inhalers! I've been a patient of Dr. Patel's for approximately eight years, and my experience(s) here has/have been very good. I have mild asthma; Dr. Patel helped me find the right inhaler to use for long-term asthma control, and it works very well at keeping my asthma under control (the only time I have to use my rescue inhaler more frequently is whenever I get a chest cold or a bad case of bronchitis, etc. Other than that, I rarely have to use my rescue inhaler). Dr. Patel is a very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful physician; he takes the time to listen to you, takes your problems seriously, and he'll gladly refer you to get blood work/other testing done to address the underlying cause of every problem you tell him about. Also, the staff are quite friendly and courteous, whether you're at an appointment, or they're just calling to confirm your next appointment; they're also very skilled at taking vitals and conducting breathing tests while you're there. Overall, Dr. Patel and his staff are true rock stars at evaluating, and also treating those with asthma and/or allergies.
