Patee Thai is another generic Thai restaurant in the heart of Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. That's not to use generic in the degrading sense of the word. The standard of Thai food is great in this area and you are never let down with whichever one you go. Patee Thai has the edge of letting its customers choose a table or to nestle on your knees with the aid of some comfortable and very colourful cushions. Whether you want to do it the Thai way (not that I saw many people do this in Thailand) or whether you get a table is really up to you. I love yummy Thai food and Patee Thai is as yummy as most. I probably prefer Ying Thai 2 on Lygon Street for flavour and value. But that is quite a distance to get to if you are feeling lazy. read more

Patee Thai really feels like an authentic Thai restaurant, as soon as you walk in you are greeted with wooden bamboo floors, religious Thai decorations, lashings of golden material and of course the sensational smell of herbs and spices being cooked up. There are lots of yummy dishes on the menu, some of my favourites so far have been the Coriander Chicken - succulent chicken breast strips in a very light and tasty sauce with seasonal greens and freshly picked coriander. The Asian Greens & the Lamb Massaman, if your in the mood for something a bit hot. To drink I always like to BYO a tasty bottle of Moscato or something white to go with my Thai cuisine. The staff are very friendly and accommodating at Patee Thai and they also deliveries if you want to dine in from the comfort of your own home. read more
Thai sensation and by far my favorite Thai restaurant in Fitzroy. The décor was smart and authentic. From the sit-on-the-floor tables with comfortable backrest to the detailed carving bowls that held the coconut rice, everything was designed to portray a traditional thailand atmosphere. The food was also to high standards, large portions with amazing flavours. At $30 a head for the banquet, it provided both quality and quantity. Only thing I would criticise is majority of the food was a tad on the sweet side. overall lovely night spent! read more

Highly recommend this place. Take your shoes off at the door and sit on little triangular pillows on the ground and pretend you're exotic/cultured etc. Food is delicious with the right amount of spice. No pets allowed. read more

I have eaten at Patee Thai a couple of times. The service is good and I love the option to sit on the floor and always attempt to coax my fellow diners to join me ( yes maybe I am just a big kid ). I recently went with a group of 17 people which meant we could only order the banquet ( groups over about 13 people are only allowed to order banquet). The amount of food was incredible, I could only take a couple of bites from each dish as there was too much. The food was good but I think if it was up to me I would prefer to order my own meal. BYO makes for a very reasonalby priced meal. read more

Patee Thai is a rare thing indeed; a chain that actually delivers. Sure it may be a little generic, particularly with the proliferation of Thai restaurants in the area, but the food is good and in the end that's what counts. Prices are reasonable, staff are friendly (if a little slow) and the dishes are pleasantly spicy. Also, you have the option of sitting on the floor and the novelty factor gets me every single time. Patee Thai might not be anything might not be anything to write home about, but it's a nice option for a classic Thai meal. read more

Never actually set foot in here but discovered this place using Menulog & getting home delivery. Funny thing is, I suggest ordering Thai to my friends and they all say 'as long as it's from Patee Thai' so that speaks for itself! Let me start with the food .... Oh my God, the Roti is so mouthwatering & the green chicken curry - just perfection. I even eat this cold out of the fridge the next morning - if there are any leftovers! The vegetarian spring rolls are fresh and the pastry crackles in your mouth. Do yourself a favour and order your Thai from here. One day I should actually dine in! read more

Great food, great service, reasonably priced. They have authentic Thai tables where you sit on cushions which is a nice touch. It's a great place to go if you want a relaxed meal served in a reasonable amount of time. read more
