I am writing this to let people know the two 1 star reviews are beyond accurate. I worked for Patchwork and can attest to all that was said and more. The plethora of excuses range from "I'm in the keys' to a few days later "I'm in the Mayo clinic." Nobody would drive from one to the other. I had a major cardiac event and was out in five days, not two weeks. My checks have bounced twice and I have gotten no results from the owner [Joann] or her assistant [Coral]. They will rip you off and disappear, just as they screw their employees. If you signed up for service and anyone showed up to work ... that would be a surprise. read more

I'm sad to say that I attempted to use Patchwork Quilt Companions for long term care companionship for my mother, who has dementia. Things started out well initially, however within the first two weeks, things started to deteriorate. First, the companion that initially came to care for Mom was replaced within the first two weeks. Eventually, the second companion also was replaced. I wasn't informed either time when this happened. And while the owner is compassionate towards her clients, consistency is critical for dementia patients. Mom never knew who was caring for her; I would mention their name and she didn't know who I was referring to. Next, the owner only accepts payment via check and expects it to be provided by the end of the week. She was literally billing the current week's time every Friday, rather than building in a buffer that would allow a week in arrears as a reserve for paying her employees. I was driving the check over to her house every Friday. I travel a lot and this became inconvenient...I ended up pre-paying her so that she could pay Mom's companion. She insisted that I could transfer the payment from my bank account to hers, but my bank only uses Zelle and she refused to accept payment this way. She even suggested that I could transfer money into her personal bank account...co-mingling monies! I then learned that many of the employees were not being paid promptly, which I imagine was due to the owner's inability to provide efficient payment methods. So while I was paying the owner, she was not paying the companion that cared for my mom. Understandably, the companion ended up quitting. (And she still has not gotten paid!) I then fired Patchwork and that created a very uncomfortable text exchange between me and the owner. I didn't want to get involved in the drama that ensued so I simply stopped responding to her texts. It's very sad that the owner is genuinely compassionate towards the patients that need care, but her business practices are unprofessional. We used Patchwork Quilt Companions for the home healthcare of my father for the month of December 2016. The home health aide was fantastic and a godsend. However, the owner of the agency was another story. We signed a contract to give her a 2-week deposit before care began and to pay her a weekly amount - out of which, she would pay our caregiver. Our deposit was to be returned after care had ended - with 2 weeks of notice, which was given. Mid-December, we made an agreement with the owner that she would pay our caregiver for the last week of December out of our deposit and then she would return the remainder of the deposit to us by the end of January. Mid-January, we heard from the caregiver that the owner of the agency told her that it was our responsibility to pay her for the last week of December - not the agency's. The caregiver had worked a total of 5 weeks and a few days and we had paid the agency for 4 weeks (on a weekly basis) and a 2-week deposit - more than enough to cover the work of the caregiver. The owner would go back and forth between telling the caregiver she would send her a check and telling her that it was our (the client) responsibility to pay her. It is currently April 2017 and the owner of the agency is still telling the caregiver that we owe her for her last week of work. When we contact the owner, she comes up with every excuse in the book - her health, her accountant, her assistant, being a bad business person, etc. There are other complaints regarding the way she treated our caregiver while she was working with us, but those are just icing on the cake. Do Not use this agency. The owner appears very nice and friendly but is only in it for your money. They charged my mother for time when she was in the hospital. They did nothing for her but still made her pay for the time she was hospitalized. We can't prove it but jewelry from her home was missing. I would not recommend them to care for a plant let alone a human being. read more

They are scam artists! They do not pay employees for the hours worked! Also, the employees are not required to have any certification of any kind! Stay away!! read more

One worker slept while my mother yelled, and pounded on walls to wake her up. They also padded there time cards, which are handwritten, claimed they worked everyday for my mother even while she had a team of nurses at the hospital she was in taking care of her. They are home health aids, not nurses, they cook, clean and do small different jobs, none of which needed to be done while she was lying in a bed in the hospital. Highly don't recommend this facilitie. read more

I wish I had seen Patty B.'s review before we allowed these scam artists in our home. They were contracted to help my 93-year-old father out with meals and general care. They did, however, send a great caregiver, whom they ended up stiffing, as well. The company asked for a large deposit, then came back 2 days later with no notice and the representative demanded the caregiver wake my 93-year-old father to write her a check. All the while, she was bad mouthing the owner of the company on how much she lies and spewing her personal business in a very unprofessional manner. They are not only uncaring, they are unscrupulous. They told the caregiver to not come back for her evening shift, leaving us scrambling to get our father fed dinner and into bed safely, as well as finding someone to take him to his doctor's appointments the next day. We gave them 2 weeks notice of cancellation and they have yet to return the large deposit. It is sad that there are people in the world that prey on the elderly. In addition, they never did pay the caregiver for the weekend that we had paid for. In all, they scammed over $1000.00 from my family. By the way, I believe the 5-star review below is from the crazy representative that came in our beachside home screaming about her mother-in-law, the owner of Patchwork. read more
