Dr. Chavone and Dr. Gwen are a great team and run the best PT place in NOVA. Highly trained, experienced, knowledgeable and friendly therapists. I've been seeing them post achilles surgery for about 3 weeks. In addition to needing PT to regain full use of my ankle and foot, 8 weeks in a boot left me with an injured kneed from walking funny and significant muscle atrophy. Not only have I been making great progress, but I actually feel myself getting stronger. Both Dr's are great at giving encouragement, motivation and a little helpful push when you need it. They also really listen to their patients and their patients bodies. Finally, Dr. Chavone and Dr. Gwen are always happy to answer any questions in detail- in layman's terms all the way up to an in depth medical discussion. Everything is SUPER CONVENIENT: plenty of parking, unlike trying to get in/out of fair oaks hospital complex; plenty of hours available; and an elevator in back that takes you right to the office. Their office itself is very clean, has everything needed to provide excellent care and very bright, open and welcoming. It looks like a small, very modern gym with up-to-date brand new equipment. My initial therapy is about halfway finished, but I hoping I can continue to do more balance and strength workouts. I really like this crew. OK, in one of their rooms is what looks like some kind of suspension training system. When I asked, they said it was the REDCORD NEURAC system. If you don't play for the Washington Capitol Hockey team, you can't find this anywhere within 50 miles of the DC/NOVA area. it is one of the most innovative and effective (peer reviewed) systems for treating challenging muscle/skeletal pain. I really wanna try it for or Post Laminectomy Syndrome (back pain/leg sciatica). If I do, i'll post a follow-up review. http://www.redcordamerica.com/neuromuscular-activation/neurac-system.php One important thing that I didn't know until Dr. Johnson told me this the other day. Think you can benefit from PT? Just self-refer and call them. The Doctors are able to do an independent assessment, and prescribe up to 30 days of initial therapy as well as recommend you to a local MD who can prescribe further therapy. I cannot recommend more highly!

I will keep coming back and definitely recommend it!…read more I absolutely love coming here! I have been to other Physical Therapy centers, including NOVA but nothing compares to the attention and care that I have found here at Orthocare Physical Therapy Center. I have been seen by Dr. Shruti, Dr. Grishma and Lucia and I receive the same level of care and attention by all 3. They listen to me and they work with me. Additionally, the location is so convenient. So close to 66, Fairfax County parkway, Route 28 and located on Route 50.

She is methodically scientific - bordering forensic -- in her attention to detail. She's passionate and fluent in her life's work in orthopedic medicine. She also has a bubbly bedside manner that helped me feel comfortable and calm immediately. Her thorough approach means she will err on the side of caution when prescribing exercises and routines. This can seem slow at times, but she balances that deep long-term care approach with practices like dry needle therapy and deep tissue massage which will immediately alleviate pain and muscle tightness in a short/medium term capacity. Frankly, I was heartbroken when recently my long-term physical therapist (Dr. Virginia Dula of Move Better LLC), also a military wife and mom, packed up and left for a deployment last month. Those of us on the long-term injury management track know just how difficult it can be to find a physical therapist who's got it all... But after meeting Dr. A I can't help but feel like I've got a guardian angel out there after all. Even with Dr. Dula's incredible help, I had begun to accept that the more stubborn parts of my injury would cause my body to be permanently limited because they never healed or fully functioned again no matter how long we treated them. After all, I've been regularly doing PT for 5 years now. In just 4 sessions, Dr. A was able to get into those muscles in my spine and make them move and feel when I've had no feeling and movement there for years. For this reason I highly respect her methodical and slow approach because it's clear to me that we are going to make even more permanent progress than I have ever had before.

About the location itself, I immediately was aware of how friendly and attentive all the people there seemed to be. The facility itself is attractive, full of light, and has a very positive vibe to it. About the therapy, my therapist knew more about the anatomy and movement of the knee and surrounding areas than I could imagine. He performed a series of massages, movements, exercises, and other treatments explaining at each step what it was meant to accomplish. He was very clear about how to approach the rehab process and answered every question I had. He also laid out a carefully thought out home exercise program that I followed fully. My recovery has progressed very well and exceeded expectations. It has been an excellent experience and I highly recommend VTFC and Larry Grine as a PT.

I've already tried physical therapy at other places, and I was mainly looking for more guidance getting back to exercise without triggering dizziness and pain. But Justin Geisler has done more than just get me exercising again - I am completely set on the path to recovery. My symptoms are literally disappearing. The dizziness that had been constant for 18 months just gets triggered by certain activities now. I don't think I've taken pain medication once since starting here. I'm traveling and working more. I do still get symptoms, but they are manageable and they don't flare for a week after doing activities I previously avoided. All of the staff is kind and helpful. Justin is extremely competent and encouraging. He also has reframed my perspective and taught me how my injury and recovery work. (edited to add): I had such a good experience doing physical therapy here that when I was looking for a vestibular therapist a few months later, I didn't even shop around. Melissa immediately addressed my bppv with the epley maneuver. She knew a lot of tests to figure out what other things could be contributing to my vertigo and dizziness. I am seeing quick improvement with how I feel and with how I am able to progress the vestibular exercises. She also does dry needling and manual therapy on my neck. I am continually impressed with the level of competence and care of everyone at VTFC, especially compared to my past therapists and those of people I know. Both the manual therapy and exercise portion are one-on-one with your provider. For the vestibular therapy, other people seem to do one balance test and say you're fine if you don't fall. I was worried the same thing would happen when I had my initial vestibular evaluation here - I was keeping my balance with the first few tests and they weren't even triggering obvious symptoms. But Melissa kept going through different tests and identified where the vestibular system wasn't functioning well.

She had gone to the clinic for PT for about nine months but stopped because of the PT's rudeness. My daughter notes that the people at the front desk were beyond helpful and kind. Specifically, Anna gave us her email when my daughter hinted that she was upset about a different situation, and she seemed to genuinely care about the issue. David was also nice when we talked to him. Unfortunately, there were multiple occasions where my daughter felt sick and terrible during the sessions, and had to leave. When she would tell her PT, the PT would make my daughter feel bad and guilt trip and pressure her into staying longer. Recently, my daughter got sick and couldn't go to PT for about a month. After a month, she felt well enough to attend about 30 minutes. After the initial 30 minutes with the PT, my daughter told them she wasn't feeling well and would go home after one more exercise (that she planned and chose to do). They told her, "Okay, well just plan to stay longer next time." My daughter was extremely confused and just dumbfounded. She assumed the PT misunderstood and told the PT that she still wasn't feeling well from her recent sickness and had planned to only stay for 30 minutes. The PT double downed and told her to plan to stay for longer. At that point, my daughter was so angry she didn't want to talk to the PT anymore. She did the last exercise and left. Because they were not receptive to her feelings and symptoms, my daughter decided to stop going to the clinic, but we wanted to report it to their admin team. She sent in a contact request to the Jackson Clinics company admin team, but they never emailed or called us. A few days later, I cancelled all of her upcoming appointments at the clinic and the clinic director asked me why. I briefly explained, but my daughter called him back and told him more. At first, he seemed understanding, but near the end he seemed to be making excuses for the PT. He said he talked to her about it, and he didn't mention if she was even sorry or wanted to explain it herself. We later learned that Jackson can only bill you for the time that the patient is there. We assume they put pressure on their employees to make clients stay. While we understand that this is not the employees' fault, we expected more courtesy from them, explaining that they had to say it. Jackson most likely puts pressure on their employees so they get more money, but because of this forced pressure, we are not willing to continue service, and they lose more than they would have. We also recently learned that they sent an end of service note to my daughter's PCP. We know this is normal and expected. However, the PT lied on it. She said that she had explained to my daughter during the last appointment about their 90 minute model. She did not. She also said "patient was noncompliant with at home exercises." While this is partially true, as my daughter has multiple unreliable and unpredictable health conditions, the PT did not put in a lot of effort to help. We hope this review will give potential clients some insight and our goal is that they won't make others as upset as my daughter was, and still is.

Part of the reason why I go to PT is the accountability aspect. I know I'm going to have to tell them if I've been keeping up with my exercises. I mean, they can tell anyways. Points for honesty? *nervous laugh* However, I liked that Jason mixed up the exercises often so I wouldn't get bored. I think a lot of patients are given the same exercises and think, "Why do I pay you when I can just do these at home?" and just stop going to PT. While it is important to establish a baseline to see how you are progressing, it's also important (to me) for therapists to continuously challenge me. He also made sure that I was able to do more dynamic exercises vs just controlled exercises before giving me the green light to play soccer again. Due to work conflicts or scheduling, I'd sometimes have to come in two days in a row. Jason was always mindful of this and would work on one area the first day and a different body part the following day. Also re: not being the best patient - he's realistic about your home program and how often you'll actually do the exercises. - One-on-one time and knowledge: Although this might differ from each location, I felt that I was able to have enough face time with Jason to explain what was going on and how I progressed (or didn't progress) since my last visit. I hate being rushed or feeling like I need to bring in a list of my questions just so I remember during my two minute interaction with a doctor. Jason always had the time to answer questions and talk about a strategy for the upcoming weekend, which is when I would have my soccer games. His explanations were clear and easy enough to understand, but never in a condescending way. And believe me, I always had questions. He never seemed annoyed. - Overall personality and interpersonal skills: We actually had a discussion about how doctors don't take classes on interpersonal skills and handling different types of patients. I was going to PT 1-2x/week a few months so I'd rather not see a monotone robot on a weekly basis. He's personable, super easy to work with, and is a pretty funny guy, too. He always had great awareness about when to push me and when to back off. My only complaint is that he did not consult me before switching to a new location. Just kidding (but I'm still sad about it). But ending on a good note: I did overhear this older, Asian lady saying he has "magic hands". And trust me, being Asian, I can say this as a fact - there was no sexual innuendo in the comment. Also, older, Asian ladies have high standards and expectations, and have no problem saying what they think. So, let "magic hands" fix your broken body!

Looks like the staff has rolled over since the prior review but the service is still great. They…read morehave a couple of practitioners and the lead is Hunter. His routine seems to be working thus far, am just a week weeks in but a practice I would definitely recommend.

From there she brought me out into the therapy room and did a few test for range of motion, did a nice shoulder massage, some exercises, then ice before concluding our appointment. She also gave me a print out of the exercises for me to do at home until my next appointment. Walking into my first PT appointment i was a little nervous seeing everyone out doing their treatments together since i tend to be a little on the shy side and have social anxiety however, Dr. Johnson kept talking to me and all the other PT's are talking with each other so it is easy to join in the conversation especially with the other patients whom were all friendly as well.
