Going through a divorce is never easy, and finding the right person to guide you through the…read moreprocess can make such a difference. From my very first consultation with Indy Colbath Schmitt at Bay Area Family Law Center, I felt more at ease and confident about moving forward. Indy was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate. She took the time to listen to my concerns, explain my options in a way that was easy to understand, and answer my questions without making me feel rushed. What had felt overwhelming suddenly felt much more manageable. Her paralegal, Jerennina Piguing, was also wonderful--responsive, helpful, and supportive. Divorce is an emotional and stressful experience, but having professionals who genuinely listen and help you navigate the process can bring tremendous peace of mind. I am very grateful to Indy and her team for their guidance and support and would confidently recommend Bay Area Family Law Center to anyone needing knowledgeable and compassionate family law representation.

Nicole is incredibly sharp and professional, yet remained very approachable whenever I had questions. What really stood out was how dynamic she was in the final stages. I expected the process to drag on much longer, but she worked efficiently with the judge and the opposing attorney to get everything finalized. I am so grateful to have had them as my guides.

Like all of the attorneys I spoke with, his hourly rate is in the "top-tier" range, but he is very reasonable in the time he charges, and his collegial working style meant that he and my wife's attorney didn't spend time (and money) arguing with each other. Since all of this was happening during Covid, it helped that Dan is well set up for remote work, Zoom calls and conferences with the court, scanning/emailing documents for signature, etc. All in all Dan was great to work with.

I retained John Larson after he eagerly offered to help with my custody and child support case, and…read moreI made the mistake of paying him up front in full. The core problem was pace and communication. Multiple requests for updates on my own case went entirely unanswered, including several where I was simply asking where things stood. I frequently had to call, text, and email repeatedly to get any status at all. No discovery was ever conducted on the opposing party's finances, despite that being central to the case and despite my raising it. I ended up having to pursue that myself later. The worst moment came on the day of a child support hearing. I called his office roughly five minutes before it was scheduled to begin, and he told me himself that he could not appear and that I should get another attorney for my child support case. I had to go into court alone to request a continuance, with no notice and no preparation. When I terminated the representation, I requested a full refund of unearned fees and an itemized accounting. He declined to provide a full refund or itemized accounting. I have texts and emails documenting all of this. I lost thousands of dollars and, worse, a year of progress on a case where timing mattered. If you are considering John Larson for a family law case involving custody or child support, I'd highly recommend looking anywhere else.

I was very disappointed with Mr. Chang's service and his lack of professionalism…read more 1. When I approached him for an uncontested divorce, he offered to represent both me and my wife, which is unusual. One can never be sure that an uncontested divorce can evolve into a contested one, which will unnecessarily complicate matters. For that I am not sure he has his client's best interest in mind. 2. When I approached him repeatedly a few weeks after our initial meeting for an update and asked for an expected timeline, he simply said no, which is surprisingly ill-mannered. Meanwhile our case was left aside without any progress. 3. When I finally called his office, he still wouldn't give me a straight answer and a clear timeline, but gave various excuses for the lack of progress, and told me that he won't have time to work on it till end of year. At the end he rudely hanged up on me, which was rather astonishing. 4. He later wrote me an email apologizing for the rudeness during the phone call, and finally gave me an expected date for the initial document to sign -- it was over 3 months after our meeting (we met in 10/20/2019, and he offered to have the document prepared before 1/31/2020)! Finally I decided that I had enough, and found another attorney. I wouldn't recommend Mr. Chang to anyone for his lack of professionalism and simple respect for his client. I kept a record of our exchanges mentioned above and I can stand by my claim.

This completely unprofessional dude came highly recommended from an attorney I was already working with. So I felt comfortable calling them. As a licensed professional, this hearing and criminal charge was a big deal and could have had huge impacts on my life and career. I spoke to him on a Monday or a Tuesday and I had a hearing scheduled for the following Monday. He wanted the entire fee upfront. I simply didn't have all of it. I told him I could give him a substantial down payment and could pay him the entire fee within a couple weeks. He explained how he had such respect for my profession as he had worked in my field in the past. He assured me he was with me and was going to help me. He told me he would call my by the end of the week with a payment arrangement he would accept. So I relaxed. I didn't call anyone else. By Friday I hadn't heard from him. I was very anxious but I just trusted he would keep his word. After all, he was a recommendation from another attorney with whom I liked and had experience with. On Saturday, I tried to call his office because I had received no communication from his office whatsoever. No calls. No emails. Nothing. So I was able to find another attorney on a weekend who took my case and she was amazing. This guy began calling me Monday morning at the same time the hearing was taking place. He did not do what he said. He lied to me. He ignored my situation. His communication is so unprofessional that it is non-existent.
