It's a little ways out of Florence, but it's worth the trip, and you'll get to see some lovely views on your way up and down the hill. Everything we ate there was absolutely delicious, from the fried mozzarella--that's what every mozzarella stick aspires to be, to the fresh burrata, roasted tomato and eggplant stack, fried squash blossoms over a savory pesto custard, duck ragu, pesto pasta topped with fresh mozzarella, fried potatoes, steak with pesto and parmesan...it was all absolutely delicious. Flavorful, hearty--we were all eating long after we were full. It's small and cozy, and a really enjoyable place to spend an evening. After you eat, take a walk in the square and check out a preserved section of the Basolato Romano (road from 1 BC).

La Loggia degli Albizi boasts a warm and welcoming atmosphere with an all-round authentic Italian vibe. The menu features a good selection of pastries, breakfast items, and coffee choices that cater to diverse tastes. We decided on a few pastries and coffee for take-out. The coffee was excellent. The pastries tasted amazing. It was good value for the money. The staff who worked here were really professional and friendly, and we felt very welcome. However, it didn't get too packed while we were there. Pastas here were delicious, but I think the Risotto was the star of the show. We had a great time and would come back!

From what I've seen, it tends to be more crowded in the afternoon than in the morning, and that matched my experience. The line looked long at first, but there are actually two lines you can join, so it moves more efficiently than it seems. From getting in line to receiving my affogato, the whole process took about 20 minutes. Most people grab their affogato and sit along the street to enjoy it before bringing their dishes back. It's a fun, casual atmosphere and well worth the wait if you're in the area.

We came to Florence on a cruise and probably one of the hotter days of this year. We showed up at Vivoli and clearly the Tik Tok went viral, because it was very crowded. We waited in line and it moved rather quickly. We debated on ordered the regular and the pistacchio, but decided to go with the regular affogato. Upon ordering and entering the establishment, it gave off the cutest old time coffee shop vibe. The staff was working diligently to process orders. We watched this well-oiled machine of a staff for several minutes while they passed out 10-15 affogatos within 30 seconds. We sat on the curb and enjoyed ours in the glass cups they gave us. This was a highlight for us. The creamy gelato with espresso on the spoon was perfect for a hot day. I hope this business continues to thrive and I look forward to recommending it to everyone I know heading to Florence.
