super slow service, food was not bad but over priced ... one piece of lasagna for 25 dollars . maybe 15? it also did not come with anything .. not even salad or vegetable. we are big foodies and maybe this price would be acceptable in a high-end restaurant, but this was not it had a very musty smell. I do LOVE Italian cuisine but Pasta Amore is NOT even Olive Garden grade Italian food! Don't waste your time, taste or money at this restaurant when there are two other excellent choices in Statesville. I, first, was introduced to Pasta Amore's food at an event they catered and I was very impressed with their desserts. The food was good but the desserts were amazing! Tres Leches cake and Cannolis! Based on this we decided to add the restaurant to our "Must Try" list...boy, were we wrong! Don't let the beauty of the outside fool you! We were dressed up and ready for a romantic Italian dinner date. Inside is moody and dark but not in an amore way, no, there's no romantic feel to this dimly lit restaurant. It's also confusing inside, like a maze. Staff were at a bar in the dining area on the left when we arrived but later moved to a bar in the main dining room. We were told to seat ourselves which is another source of confusion at dinner in an Italian restaurant. I get understaffed and conserving energy nowadays but is there such a thing as an Italian casual diner? Next, our drink order was taken from behind the bar by shouting at us, "What do you want to drink"? This was very off putting, especially for my dinner date because the server was behind him. I ordered a domestic beer but was informed there were no bottled beers except Red Oak and there was a craft beer on tap that was very close to a domestic taste. I agreed to go with that. As my beer was served, we were informed of the specials then server left. When the server returned to take our order, we were informed that there was one Cordon Bleu left, as well...this was not mentioned with the Specials. We both ordered the Chicken Breast stuffed with sundried tomatoes & spinach Special. This came with a House Salad and choice of dressing but we were offered a Caesar for an upcharge. I had to add on an appetizer order as we were not offered the opportunity. I ordered Fried Calamari. It is one of my absolute Italian favorites! Summary: Beer was good, I had two and my SO had one. I had to ask for the name of it and I only got the name of the brewery...Moon Brew. As I left, I saw a display on another table about the beers, I'm assuming it was an IPA but your guess is as good as mine! Ah, the app...my Italian favorite...Fried Calamari! Um, no, just no....please, do not order it! Definitely frozen but I know this about all restaurants but this calamari is just so bland, even the batter is flavorless. Maybe heated in oven or maybe a microwave but it was lukewarm at best. Worst Calamari I've ever eaten! House Bread and House Salad were subpar for an Italian restaurant but they do give you packets of butter with the bread and they have Blue Cheese dressing. It was edible and I was starving but definitely not the best bread or salad I've ever had! Entrees were good but you could tell it was not fresh or housemade. Both of our plates looked exactly the same and scratch-made food is not conducive to that level of uniformity or consistency! The taste was not fresh either. Again, it was edible and we were starving! $80.00 later, I would have rather ate at any fast food restaurant in town...there's definitely NO AMORE lost here! read more

Has potential but needs work. Was going to visit Broad Street Bistro today but as I was pulling into a parking spot, I saw Pasta Amore which was new so I decided to give them a try. Walked in a was greeted by the manager who escorted me to the booths and said I could have my choice. I chose one and he gave me a menu and my server showed up shortly thereafter. Not sure what was going on with the server but we had a bit of a disconnect. He could not comprehend that I was dining alone and the lady behind me was a separate party and was waiting for the rest of her party. He kept trying to seat both of us. Finally got through that we were separate. I ordered unsweetened tea which gave me a chance to look over the menu. A young female server walked up and I explained that I had already placed my drink order when my server showed back up with my tea and had to defend herself and explain that she was not trying to take his customer from him. Placed an order for the Pork Chop Pizzaiola which I had never had before so I wanted to give it a try. Comes with a house salad so I ordered one with a Balsamic Dressing. Fast forward and shortly thereafter the manager showed up with my salad and dressing. I'm now eating my salad when my server showed up with the same except I believe he forgot the dressing. Salad was bare bones but still pretty good although the Balsamic Dressing was mostly vinegar with very little oil so a bit tangy. The Pork Chop Pizziola came shortly and nice and hot with steam coming off of it. It was delicious and you could taste the sweet anise like taste of fennel which is characteristic of Italian Cooking but is often overlooked her in the US. The entree made the whole trip worth it and the place has potential based on the quality of the food. Service definitely needs work however. Will be back in a month or so and let's see if the service improves. read more

Honestly, was pleasantly surprised all the way around. Being from the northeast and having Italian basically around every corner, I'm very careful to curtail my expectations. My wife and I were walking the dogs and decided to stop in for dinner. We had the most delightful waitress and host and the owner even came out to make sure we enjoyed our meal. We had the garlic bread pesto appetizer, lobster ravioli and bolognese. We even finished with a cannoli. Very impressive overall and the people are great. Opening Day: I visited Pasta Amore around 4pm on their opening day. The outside of the building is uniquely beautiful and I like the name they chose for the restaurant. Unfortunately they chose a location where past businesses didn't last more than 2-3 months. Don't get me wrong I'm rooting for them! Hopefully they have a successful business in Downtown Statesville. I tried their linguini with pesto sauce on a cone. Which is an awesome idea, I know they do this in bigger cities so for someone to bring the idea in our little town is exciting. But when I received it, it came in a plastic take out bag with many napkins around it because the sauce was dripping from the bottom of the cone. The whole idea of the cone is so it can be eaten on the go with no mess. What's the point of having a cone if it's still going to be messy? So because the sauce was dripping it left my pasta very dry and flavorless. (In my opinion, pesto should be mixed with a little bit of Alfredo so it can have a little more texture to it, also tastes absolutely amazing). The inside didn't have an Italian feel to it. More employees sitting down than actual customers. For it being their opening day, I'm going to be a little more lenient on them and give them a second chance. read more

Worst Italian/Greek restaurant in Statesville NC. My family and I have given them a few chances and each time they charge for premium quality but barely meets mediocre dishes. They only have bottled sodas that they charge separate each time @ 4 bucks each unless you get water or tea. We try to help local small businesses but this one just doesn't care I suppose. read more

Sadly underwhelming. I had high hopes but was let down. Service was great and so was the portions. The bread was freshly made. Now onto the other. The ambience is confusing and definitely not Italian. The large space is somewhat awkward. I was the only one at the restaurant on Friday at 12:30 PM. Extremely concerning and odd. I'm not sure how long they'll make it. I felt bad for the waitress but tipped her well because anyone with one customer at what should be a busy time is depressing. The food was all right at best. The sauce may have come out of a can. The pasta was slightly overcooked along with the shrimp. It was not a meal to remember. Sadly I may not be back. I am extremely surprised that the first Italian restaurant and the closest place to eat to the college did not have pizza on the menu. Again very concerning. Upon leaving I inquired about pizza and was told they had it but you have to ask for it. It's hard to sell something when you don't let customers know that you're selling it. I lived in NY my whole life and moved here 3 years ago. Italian food is pretty limited here. That being said, this place is more than good. It's great. We had the artichoke app. (Omg).. Pasta Amore has been open for nearly a week. I wanted to wait to try it because the first few days can be rough. I went to lunch with 2 coworkers. We get a one hour lunch. It was unclear if we were to seat ourselves or wait, so we waited to be seated. The interior had been painted. It wasn't the traditional Italian decor. The colors were modern though. Our server was nice, but it seemed like it may have been her first time in this kind of job. She had to ask for our drink order twice because she didn't remember by the time she got to the drink fountain. She needed to make multiple trips to get slips to take orders. All of the orders went on different slips. It was time consuming for the waitress. Bread came out. It was delicious. Warm and perfectly toasted. Salads came. The house salad was an iceberg lettuce mix with a cucumber slice and a tomato wedge. I had the lemon vinaigrette and it was actually quite tasty. I skipped the salad and had bread with dressing. Food was delivered quickly. The waitress was spilling it on her walk. I ordered penne vodka and added grilled chicken. The vodka sauce was delicious. There were a few thin slices of grilled chicken. One coworker had an eggplant parmesan sandwich and the other had a sausage and spinach pasta dish with a garlic consumme. I didn't try either dish, but neither coworker seemed overly excited by their food. There was a gentleman who came in after we'd been seated who never had anyone come to his table. After a while, he just got up and left. There was staff just standing around. I'd have left too. Honestly, I don't know if this place will make it. I was in for right at $14, excluding tip on my lunch. For $4 extra on the chicken, I anticipated a full serving of chicken. This is the restaurant closest to a community college that has a significant number of high school students. read more

I absolutely love this place every time we come! Caesar, the owner, is unbelievably kind and accommodating and makes us feel at home the second we walk through the door. We don't come too often as to leave Pasta Amore feeling special to us because of how magnificent it is, but he still greets us by our names every time. The food? To die for. Everything feels like it was made in your grandmothers kitchen in Italy. Even the dressing for the Caesar salad is a homemade recipe. All of the food is completely authentic and sure to satisfy your palate. It's always quiet and homey inside, dim lighting, peaceful ambiance, the perfect date night location or even just somewhere you always know you'll have seating when you decide to stop by. We've never had to wait! Large, delicious portions at reasonable prices, excellent hospitality, peace and quiet, a bar...truly what more can you ask for? Not to mention it's always wonderfully clean here and they've had an A rating for their sanitation grade the past few years. Go to Vesuvio's, Sorrentos or Amalfi's!!! I wanted to give this place another try after the horrible crabcake pasta experience I had about a year ago. It is the closest Italian place to me and I would love to give them business because they are in downtown but the food was horrible and expensive. I heard the pizza was good and read somewhere I thought that it was wood fired. I checked the menu online and ordered - Kid's Spaghetti & Meatballs (menu said 6.95) and a 14" pizza (menu said 16.95 with two toppings). When I arrived and asked why my total was $33.95 - I was told I looked at the wrong menu - kids spaghetti was $9 and the Pizza was $17, plus $1.99 for mushroom topping and $2.99 for pepperoni although I only got pepperoni on half. They were pleasant and tried to give me a menu with updated prices - I said no thank you that I would probably not return. They talked about how everything has gone up including flour and that everything was homemade so I would probably be back. I hoped that were the case - the 14" pizza was horrible, it was cold even though I waited, it was undercooked and the crust was floppy not crisp and terrible. The sauce had no flavor and the cheese was not good. There was hardly any sauce on the pasta and none on the meatball which my husband said was salty. I have never written a review on Yelp, I don't like to complain but yes - everything has gone up and I do not have $33.95 to waste on bad food. I can't say enough about just how amazing this little place is! This is not your run-of-the-mill small town Italian joint. The food is.. i can't even find the words to describe how good our meal was. We had an appetizer of portobello mushroom smothered in prosciutto and mozzarella and it was just so, so incredible. They have a chocolate chip cannoli that cannot even be touched in quality by any of the other cannoli in this area. It was just like the ones my grandpa used to get me from Brooklyn. I went on the second day it was open and was so pleased with the service. Despite it being a new restaurant, my server knew her menu and was so attentive to the table. I ordered the chicken Francaise and was so pleased with the way it turned out and my grilled veggies as a side! My food was served in 15 minutes or so as well. Uh... No. How this place has 4 stars on Yelp, blows my mind. I live in Statesville and have never eaten here. So, I thought I'd give it a shot. HUGE mistake. I left praying I don't get food poisoning. I just ordered a simple spaghetti with meatballs. Plate came out with a poor excuse for bread, and everything is swimming in water. The pasta tasted like it had be boiled for 30 minutes and the meatballs smelled, well, funny. Unfortunately, I ate half of one before noticing the peculiar smell. This place has been here for quite some time. How it has survived this long is shocking. I hate for any place to go out of business, but this place needs major improvements. Like major. Statesville has some other great, no amazing Italian restaurants. Sorentos, Amalfis, Vesuvio, all great this place gives Statesville a bad name. I hate to be so crude, but seriously. Atrocious. Also, to those 4 and 5 star raters for this place. Where were you eating because this wasn't the place. First, time posting yelp. First off my friend's chicken "tenders" was just a chicken patty cut into strips. We waited well over an hour for all of our food to come out and was still disappointed. Instead of marinara sauce, we got ketchup as a dip for our mozzeralla sticks. My chicken parm was soaked in canned sauce and the same generic brand must have been used for all of our dishes. I get that this is a new restaurant but you shouldnt be messing up this early. To further on this, half of our french fries were not even done. Very good and tasty Italian food. Stopped in on a Wednesday night and got the seafood special, great deal of entree', salad, bread and a glass of house wine for only $13. The pasta with mussels and shrimp was delicious. I tried the country grilled chicken. It included potatoes, vegetables, chicken and Italian sausage in a brown sauce. Unless you're a fan of reheated frozen entrees and a lackluster menu and depressing atmosphere. I wish I had had my phone on me to take some sad photos. The house salad consisted of a mountain of iceberg lettuce, one slice of cucumber and the butt end slice of a tomato. The marinara sauce is not house made and extremely watery.
