I am appalled at the cancellation fee charged by Passport World! I scheduled an appointment for…read moreWednesday, March 23 at 11:15 am. Within 1.5 hours of scheduling I realized I had a conflict. I tried cancelling online, which did not work. So, I called the office to cancel. The person I spoke with was very nice but didn't see why the system wasn't working. So, she manually cancelled my appointment, then informed me that I would be charged 50 percent of the 492.00 fee paid, to cancel. This amounted to 246.00! Twenty dollars of that was for a passport photo that had not been taken!!! I'm contacting the better business bureau to file a complaint. I believe that such high cancellations fees are exorbitant and should be stated prior to an individual setting an appointment. These are poor business practices! Response from the owner Hi Sheilah, our cancellation fees are stated on our appointment system during booking. When you schedule an appointment the system requires you to accept them. Without accepting them you cannot make a booking. There's also a hyperlinked bolder section that you can click on that shows you our cancellation policy. Unfortunately there will always be that customer that schedules an appointment, refused to read, and then acts completely surprised and appalled. As an additional note, we are not governed by BBB, they are simply an advocate to ask for a response on customers who complain. An explanation was given to you on the phone and now via a Google review that you so kindly decided to leave. We are a private company, and therefore we have all right to ask and enforce cancellation fees that we see fit. Whether you approve of them or not they are in place for a reason. We strongly recommend you read your cancellation policies in the future when booking an appointment, especially if your not even certain if you want one. And we do want to also clarify the reason for your cancellation, it was not scheduling conflicts. You specifically said it was due to cost and because you decided to apply on your own through the post office. Our calls are recorded, Good luck applying through snail mail! Thanks. I don't care that you are a privately-pwned business, not governed by the Better Business Bureau. I just want it to be on record that you operate under deceptive business practices.
