I'm actually in search of a hotel for a…read moreblock of rooms for my upcoming wedding and I so wish that I could magically transport this hotel to where I need one. I was in the area for the holidays as my partner's family is from the Valley. I don't know much about the area but felt like we were in a good location for everything that we needed. It was super accessible to the airport, an HEB, a Starbucks and an Orangetheory Fitness. When I didn't want to leave the hotel because it was raining or didn't want to make the same mistake of driving in the wrong direction on a one way street (yikes), I didn't need to. The on-site gym was open 24 hours and had a treadmill, an elliptical machines, weights, water, and towels. The on-site and complimentary breakfast and coffee was decent (tortillas would have been nice though). And I even noticed on my room fridge a sign that said the would pick up some groceries for me if I needed. I don't know if the grocery service is true of all Residence Inn's but if not, it aligns with my experience here with the staff that was super friendly and accommodating.

So on a trip to Harlingen I checked into the Residence Inn right next to the Bass Pro Shops. Not only was the location a plus, due to Bass Pro shops being on the same parking lot, the hotel is much newer and in much better condition than the Hilton I normally stay in. Everything was high quality from my check in experience, the evening reception with food beer and wine, to the workout room which had not only treadmills but free weights as well. This far outshined the Hampton Inn that I normally stay in on Ed Carey Drive. This is a really nice hotel at a reasonable price and I would recommend to anyone: clean, quiet, comfortable, and very dark window shades to be able to sleep at night as well as in a very quiet location.
