My words: I love to visit old cemeteries and this one is a very spectacular. Ever since the show {Evita} opened in the West End of London in 1979, it brought light to both Evita and Buenos Aires to me. I also knew that one day I would be able to visit. That day was now. BA was an amazing place and finally going to the Casa Rosado just paved a path to visiting Evita's family mausoleum. I was not familiar with Recoleta Cemetery nor the amount of people who are interred here. I did watch some you tube movies about visiting here and while it really helped, it did not prepare me for the overall scope of this place. In conclusion... this place is beautiful and the stories that go with many of the sites are just amazing and even haunting. Remember that there is an entry fee and a line which moved very quickly. If you book the evening tours, you will miss the sunset. If it's your first time in Argentina, you may find it somewhat challenging to get tickets. We go to Argentina every year so this has been on my list of to-dos for a while now. You can purchase your ticket online. Then you will have to email their office (which is on that confirmation email of your tickets) and ask them to send you a PayPal link to pay for your tickets - this sis specifically for foreigners with non-Argentinian bank. We did that and it was pretty easy. If you're confused, you can also contact them via their WhatsApp and they can help with your tickets. The tour - the tour was excellent. I learned a lot. This is not a palace but more so a tall building which is also a work office building during the day. The elevators are super cool and are very old and reminds me of Harry Potter. The views from the top were fantastic especially during sunset. I got some really cool photos. They also have a photographer on the top you can hire if you want better photos. I think it was like $10 per photo. The lighthouse was also super cool and old. You can see the BA skyline from there and had excellent views. Our guide spoke perfect English and he actually knew so much about art and architecture!

It was named a historical landmark because the architect designed the building based on Dante's Divine Comedy. Therefore, the building's design is divided into three sections that each represent the areas Dante goes through (Hell, Purgatory and Haven). However, to go beyond the ground floor, you can to pay for a guided tour. The best part about the tour is that you get a rooftop view of the city. But like I said: Unless you are really into architecture, I recommend skipping this. Buenos Aires has much more to offer.

This is an extremely old Catholic church in the very center of the city - over 200 years old. I…read morefound the outside to be a bit plain looking. The inside is impressive looking, but the architecture did not stand out to me like others that I have seen like Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. Since it's located in the main square anyway, it doesn't hurt to at least go inside and take a quick look. More recently, this church is known as the place where Pope Francis used to hold mass.

It is located the neighborhood of Puerto Madero, crosses over the Rio Dique and is not too far from Casa Rosada. This rotating footbridge was the first work from Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava in Latin America. The key attribute of the bridge is that it represents a couple dancing tango, with the white mast symbolizing the man and the curve of the bridge, the woman.

In my opinion, it looks extra lovely at night with that soft lilac glow, but it's pretty impressive during the day as well. I feel like it's sort of a shame that it's located in an area with heavy traffic (please be extra careful crossing the street here!) but it does present a good opportunity for a picture while you're waiting for the light to change.

Interesting Tale of Architectural Revenge…read more According to urban legend, Corina Kavanagh represented "new money" and fell in love with a wealthy, aristocratic son from the Anchorena family. The Anchorena family had built a private church that they could view from their palace but had planned on building a newer mansion closer to the church. Ultimately, the mother Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, who strongly opposed the relationship, managed to end the engagement. Corina Kavanagh, heart-broken, hurt and humiliated, decided to take out her revenge by building a reinforced concrete high-rise that would completely obstruct the view from the Anchorena's palace. Corina had to sell three estancias in Venado Tuerto to finance her project and buy the land next to the church when Mercedes was on vacation. In 14 months, the Kavanagh Building became the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world and for many years remained the tallest building in Latin America. The 33-floor building was the first in Argentina to boast central air conditioning. The 12 elevators, five staircases, a ground floor shopping center and underground parking made it a very desirable property. Other unique features included a swimming pool, integrated drycleaner service, cold storage for furs and carpets, and a central telephone system. So interesting to be able to visit this landmark architectural feat again and be reminded of this urban legend.
