This new modern pedestrian bridge in Puerto Madero is a work of art. This was the place to come at Sunset for beautiful views. Its name means the women's bridge. During the day there were families here & characters in costumes to pose for photos with children. In the evening the bridge was lite, tango dancers performed & photographers took pictures of couples. It became very buggy when the sun came down. It was easy to find a taxi to take us back to our hotel.

I kept wanting to see this bridge take off at some point. It didn't, it stayed put the whole time. This old city is smattered with modern installations like this bridge. It always great to see a smooth and well functioning juxtaposition of old and new in any metropolitan city. It's a sleek and streamlined bridge. I am certain the sail or wing like protrusion must serve some practical purpose. It was cool to walk the bridge either way. I was half expecting it to transport me to the way future.

I don't quite get it. I didn't move to the city until I was in my early 20's, so I think I still look at Buenos Aires with rose tinted glasses of someone who comes from a boring town, and I love touristy things and places. Unfortunately, this brigde (inaugurated in 2001) in particular isn't one of them. Puerto Madero is a nice place for a stroll, you'll find office workers roaming around in their suits, runners and joggers zapping around tourists, wealthy people walking their fancy dogs... This footbridge joins the east and west side, with neither having a lot to offer other than pricey restaurants and a long stretch of cobblestones. If you venture out a few blocks to either side, you might find something more interesting (be careful at night if you walk towards the east side, Avenue Giralt is badly lit. Luckily all I ran into were trans sex workers, but you never know). The bridge itself is weird-looking, which could make for an interesting picture, specially at sundown. I personally don't find it that beautiful, but Puerto Madero is such a nice place for a quiet stroll that it kinda makes you feel at ease when you see this white structure hanging above the water. I wouldn't recommend someone derailing their itinerary to go see it, but it's only a few blocks from Plaza de Mayo and other lovely places of the city center, so I'd say give it a chance.

This is a cool footbridge. The name means "Bridge of the Women" and there are many streets in the area also named after women. If you are interested in architecture you would probably enjoy checking this out. There is also a retired naval ship which has been converted to a museum which is cool to look at.

Interesting Tale of Architectural Revenge…read more According to urban legend, Corina Kavanagh represented "new money" and fell in love with a wealthy, aristocratic son from the Anchorena family. The Anchorena family had built a private church that they could view from their palace but had planned on building a newer mansion closer to the church. Ultimately, the mother Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena, who strongly opposed the relationship, managed to end the engagement. Corina Kavanagh, heart-broken, hurt and humiliated, decided to take out her revenge by building a reinforced concrete high-rise that would completely obstruct the view from the Anchorena's palace. Corina had to sell three estancias in Venado Tuerto to finance her project and buy the land next to the church when Mercedes was on vacation. In 14 months, the Kavanagh Building became the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world and for many years remained the tallest building in Latin America. The 33-floor building was the first in Argentina to boast central air conditioning. The 12 elevators, five staircases, a ground floor shopping center and underground parking made it a very desirable property. Other unique features included a swimming pool, integrated drycleaner service, cold storage for furs and carpets, and a central telephone system. So interesting to be able to visit this landmark architectural feat again and be reminded of this urban legend.

From Wikopedia: "La Recoleta Cemetery (Spanish: Cementerio…read morede la Recoleta) is a cemetery located in the Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It contains the graves of notable people, including Eva Perón, presidents of Argentina, Nobel Prize winners, the founder of the Argentine Navy, and military commanders such as Julio Argentino Roca. In 2011, the BBC hailed it as one of the world's best cemeteries, and in 2013, CNN listed it among the 10 most beautiful cemeteries in the world." My words: I love to visit old cemeteries and this one is a very spectacular. Ever since the show {Evita} opened in the West End of London in 1979, it brought light to both Evita and Buenos Aires to me. I also knew that one day I would be able to visit. That day was now. BA was an amazing place and finally going to the Casa Rosado just paved a path to visiting Evita's family mausoleum. I was not familiar with Recoleta Cemetery nor the amount of people who are interred here. I did watch some you tube movies about visiting here and while it really helped, it did not prepare me for the overall scope of this place. In conclusion... this place is beautiful and the stories that go with many of the sites are just amazing and even haunting. Remember that there is an entry fee and a line which moved very quickly. I truly recommend having a guide to explain the monuments and stories as it adds so much more to the sites. KUDOs to the team and guides at Cementerio de la Recoleta

The primary objective was to find the resting place of Eve Peron (Evita). We arrived about 2 hours after they opened and there was a small queue outside. The queue moved quickly. They have maps at the payment counter. Once inside we were all amazed by the size, design and layout of the cemetery. Initially, we started by wandering through the paths and viewing the designs of the various family mausoleums. Then we focused and found our way over to the Familia Duarte mausoleum, where Eva Peron is said to be. It wasn't difficult to find but there was a queue to venture down the correct path to view it. After that we were nearly ready to depart. We meandered a bit more to visit others as we made our way towards the exit. A reasonable excursion that is worth the visit if such things interest you. I think that 2 hours would be more than enough time. Pay for the guided tour if you really want to know details and history.
