The Apple Valley is our go to store for our birthday balloons. We've always been happy with our purchases, until now. We went yesterday to get the premium numbers set (2 number balloons and 12 latex) for our son's birthday today. Only 5 of the 12 are still semi floating and could be salvaged. The other 7 didn't float at all and we discarded them. The numbers are fine Next time we might go to Cub or Walmart and pay half of what we paid and threw away. Very disappointed! read more

I recently went to this location to get helium filled for some balloons I had already purchased. This was my first time buying helium and the only place I could think of that would fill helium was this store. Luckily there was one near me! Backstory: I purchased balloons elsewhere for about $5 each - as Party City was selling the exact same kinds for $11.99. I thought I was making a more affordable decision by pre-buying balloons and getting them filled here. When I got to the store, it was just like any other Party City - large and filled with lots of items you would probably only use once or twice in your life. No big deal though. There were two people ahead of me and I felt like the service was incredibly slow. Granted, there was a young kid that was working and they were the only ones at the register. That wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact that when it was finally my turn (10 mins later) the kid stated that the price to fill my 2 balloons was $20! I guess I didn't realize how expensive helium was. I also asked if helium was included if you purchased from the store and they stated "it depends on the balloon." Not too helpful , but something to make note of for next time. After I paid, the kid told me they would fill my balloons after helping the other customers in line. Didn't make a whole lot of sense but okay! I ended up waiting an additional 10 mins as the worker helped the remainder of the customers. What should have been a quick 5 min trip easily became 20...when the balloons could have been filled when I purchased them. Not sure this is common practice at Party City but it would make sense to serve each customer in line in order and not sporadically. read more

Was getting stuff here at this store and had checked out. One of the registers I was on I had paid for but didn't print out the receipt. The manager on duty stated that if it didn't print out a receipt, then it charge the card. They said the cash register system commonly happens that eay. I ended up having to pay twice. Whoever is corporate needs to fix their system at this location as well as other locations if it's happening often to other customers. I better have my money back if I'm paying for this twice. Being from out of town and this happening to me ain't right. Not satisfied. read more

The employees have no customer service. They had an attitude with me and I was very disappointed, I felt very disrespected and put down and I would never ask for service if they would talk down on me. read more

I usually come here once per year for an annual party or twice if there is a special event. They have a decent selection but even more options online. Prices can be high on some items (plates, cups, some decor) and low on others (bowls, serving items). My order usually includes balloons and they usually do a good job. But they did mess up an order once and lately the latex balloons aren't as full when we pick them up. They used to last for days and now they don't. read more

For my daughter's Bridal Shower I placed an in-store balloon order in Apple Valley MN, and purchased a variety of theme related items. I was pleased with the decorations, and the balloon delivery was announced via text and was 45 minutes early, which was great! Mylar balloons going strong a week later, other balloons barely lasted 18 hours, but I was advised of that. Alternatively, I placed an order online for personalized napkins. They were supposed to be delivered at the latest on the 19th. We called on the 20th, the day of the party, and were told by 5PM, but no. We called again and were told delivery on the 23rd, but wrong again. They arrived the 25th; 6 days late. I contacted online PartyCity staff and was told 'No refunds for personalized items', which is unacceptable. I recognize that PartyCity doesn't control all aspects of delivery, but NEITHER DOES THE CUSTOMER. People order personalized products for particular occasions on specific dates- if the delivery is late, then the customer did not get what they paid for regarding a date specific item. I complained further, my call was 'escalated' and a couple days later I received two emails on the same day from 'Customer Care'; the first advising I would receive No Refund, and the second advising my Refund was In Process. What...?!?! My local PartyCity store was very helpful- they offered to immediately provide a Refund and apologized for my experiences with online staff. Much appreciated- Thank-You. Bottom line... local PartyCity Customer Service was superior. Online Service? I'll never order anything again online from PartyCity... it shouldn't ever be a hassle for a Customer to receive a refund for items received late for which the customer then has no use. My daughter had flown back to California several days before my order was delivered... an issue that is out of a Customer's control should never be charged to the Customer. Period. If it takes an extra 10 days (as the 'No Refund' email stated) to receive personalized products, then make sure your website timeframes reflect that accordingly. Mine did not. read more

I called on Thursday to ask if I brought in my own balloons if they would blow them up for me. They said absolutely! today? I said on Saturday. She said no problem. So we drove all the way to apple valley from Rochester on Saturday, my daughters birthday. We got there and the lady said sorry we're out of helium. As she was blowing up balloons. I said looks like your blowing some up right now? She said ya for online orders can't do yours. So we drove an hour, for no reason. read more

I think I come here for the draw of 50% off all greeting cards everyday. Hmm, that makes me sound cheap. However, I think the cards may be higher priced in general so maybe it's about the same price after discount. They do have a good selection of cards though. Perhaps the draw is the big selection of Mylar/foil balloons. They're only about $2.00 each. You can order online so they're ready for you, and there is all those party supplies and assorted goods for party favors. Actually, the real draw is the Halloween costumes. During that treasured pagan season one can find just about every imaginable outfit to terrify or amuse like-minded revelers. I'd surely give a 5-star rating if not for a few issues. There's a bit of disorganization during the costume season. Considering it's a yearly thing, one would figured a bit more streamlining. Also, if you don't order ahead, getting some attention for balloons or general questions can be a little challenging at times. Obviously it's not a great problem as the reasonable prices and selection far outweigh the bad. read more

I have never been treated as rude and unprofessional as I was by the staff of Party City. The hours state that they are open until 8 pm. It is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and my sons bday is tomorrow. Unfortunately, I could not get to the store until 7:35 pm. The doors were locked. I called and the boy answering the phone said, " Well, since it's Thanksgiving tomorrow we decided to close early." I asked him his name but he refused to give it to me. I have never been treated so horribly by an employee!! I am a paying guest and all I wanted to do was pick up some balloons for my sons bday tomorrow. DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! The employee was flippant, condescending, rude and clearly on a power trip that he had no business being a part of. If I could rate this store in the negative I would. Who the heck closes early on the eve before Thanksgiving??!! It's the most horrible customer service I have ever witnessed. I will NEVER BE BACK TO SOEND MY MONEY AT PARTY CITY!! I used to spend quite a bit but no more. Be warned. DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE IN APPLE VALLEY. I can't tell you how absolutely disgusted I am. Your loss Party City-you just lost a very loyal customer!! they are very, very rude. And then to make up the business hours on the fly just because you want to go home?
