I feel a bit of a fake reviewing this place, but it is more than ten years since I worked there…read more It was set up as a small teachers' centre in part of a huge school (Woodford Lodge High School), which had been bilt to take in the 1200 or so pupils expected from all the urban overspill families moving into the area! As this never happened, there was an enormous amount of accommodation being under-used, which the county could make use of. Firstly, the Art Education Advisory Team took over an enormous indoor utility space to mount exhibitions. The school itself had begun this, but subsequent exhibitions featured artists such as Andy Goldsworthy, Antony Gormley and similar, as well as world class exhibitions of pupils' and students' work. The professional centre moved in a few Education Advisers, then a few more, before expanding and taking on the retraining and in-service training of many teaching groups throughout Cheshire. The administration staff have been appointed with the expansion in mind, so it is always well-run. Likewise the cleaning and domestic staff.

The rooms are well lit with lots of natural light.The toilets were clean but could of done with a few more. The Professional centre is well kept and comfortable. The only issue i would have is the last time i went on a course here the chairs were not very comfy, as i was suffering from a bad back. Im not sure regarding the food wether it is an outside catering company that they use, it was very nice.

When I was there this afternoon, the vegetable tagine with couscous I was served up could have easily have fed two people, and it was certainly flavoursome and hearty. Whilst the slab of cake I had for afterwards was also pretty damn big, I did find it to be a little bit dry and tasteless - although I'm keen to try some more of their various desserts in the name of 'research'. Service at Blackburne House can be a bit hit and miss though. Sometimes you're served quickly, and sometimes you're left standing around like a bit of a lemon whilst awaiting your dinner. This isn't down to ignorance though - most of the time, the staff are just rushed off their feet and therefore will take their time to pop over to your table. All in all, this is a cute - if slightly unadventurous - little cafe which is the perfect place to grab a quick lunch. Watch out for the big close-up picture of a nose on one of the walls though. There one of the best primary schools in St Helens and the staff deserve to be proud of that because as a team they all work exceptionally hard to maintain that high standard of education. Plenty of open space for the children to excersise and run around outside and it's safe. Headmaster and staff are all very good teachers with lots of time for the children and parents.

This place brings back sooo many memories for me. This was my primary school, I started here when I…read morewas 4 years old, and finished when I was 11! It really is a great school; with an excellent 11plus pass rate and a real sense of community that you don't get in huge schools. There were about 30 people in my school year, and less in the one below me. This was great, not only did it mean that all the pupils knew each other really well, but also that all pupils got the time and education the deserved from the fantastic team of teachers that they have here. It's a Christian School and has hymns and assembly every morning, it follows national Key stage one curriculum, has a great behaviors and discipline policy and some fantastic teachers! Out of 30 people in my year I'm sure over 20 passed their eleven plus, with four or five passing harder exams for entry into private schools! I would fully recommend sending your children here if you are living or have recently moved to the area!

It claims that the size of the university is beneficial to students as they are able to care and pay more attention to individuals. They offer a wide range of degree options including undergraduate, postgraduate and PGCE courses. They have also been voted the number one univesity for graduate employment in the North West. Some of the staff are decent and some are horrendous - like most places I suppose. In the morning the reception staff are really helpful and kind, whereas in the afternoon, it seems to hurt them to say hello. The canteen.. well don't even go there. The food is disgusting and the prices are ridiculous. There was a sandwich bar, similar idea to Subway which was always extremely popular but for some reason, they got rid of it.

I have attended dozens of business meetings here over the years, and had several lunches and breakfasts too. It does a good line in conferences and meetings here, and rightly so: they look after you well and the catering is generally of a high standard. Certainly the staff were friendly and eager to help. I only knew a few of the academic staff there but they always seemed to be very positive people. The University has a deservedly good reputation for the quality of its teacher-training in particular and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to prospective students. Hope has a building at Everton too (used for some of its Arts courses, I believe). It's not in such a green part of Liverpool but it's a spectacular building and makes a great venue for concerts. All in all, a great place to study or to come for a meeting.

The clubs available are rather unlike most schools in the area which offer football/netball, Waterloo offer ballet classes for years one and two, rugby, fencing and basketball. There is excellent pastoral support, which again is well reputed and the school is very active in the community. I don't believe it's one of the "big name" schools of the area, i.e. high profile, but I'm not sure why, it sounds fantastic.

The building itself is beautiful as is the playground it has a pencil fence which is very cute for the kiddies.They also have a nursery attached to the school so its easier to feed children from there.
