Someone much wiser (and older!) than myself said that the tragedy of old age is that in your mind…read moreyou still feel the same as it was in your youth but your body - like a car - starts to fall apart and needs a tuning and maybe replacement parts from time to time. So you reach the half-a-century mark and it's time for your very first colonoscopy. (Although they've been pushing to lower the age to 45, I hear.) Everyone from the lady at the front desk to the handful of nurses and technicians were stellar. You're running on fumes (I'll spare you exactly what 'prep day' is all about) and probably cranky and nervous (guilty as charged!) and all of 'this' is very strange so it's nice that everyone was personable, professional, and respectful. I also appreciated that they were sending me texts a day before my scheduled procedure (to make sure I was following all the detailed instructions properly) as well as a text checking on me the day after (to make sure you're doing good). My biggest/only issue: the same it is with almost every doctor for every field out there... their overbooking and zero consideration of how valuable your time is. 10:15 was my scheduled arrival time. I didn't get my name called till 11:45 to start the whole shebang. I'm not sure how you can square that circle. 90 minutes is bordering on ridiculous, let's be honest. (I can't tell you how many times I watched the same handful of stories for News 12 NJ that was playing on the one TV in their lobby.) But... maybe it's the aftereffects of the propofol (your mind will be blown how fast you're knocked out and then it feels like two seconds passed when they're waking you up and you realize they're finished and you're done) but everything else was a positive experience (and I'm tickled pink I don't have to go again for another decade - by then I'll probably forget how horrible all the prepping was) that I'm not docking any stars. (But you've been warned.)

I would rate Dr. Roth and the nurses a 5. The facility a one if I could. No respect for…read morepatients' time. Told to be timely and then you wait and wait about 2 hours to have the procedure start. They do not book the appointments properly. The facility and their style and manner of running the facility is horrible. Told you cannot wait in your care because they don't want to take 2 minutes to call on the phone - told you have to sit there and wait to be called. Rude and when you ask if they are running behind - they say a little when you see when you arrive at 10:15 and that is your appointment, there are three others in the waiting room ahead of you. There is no respect for the patients' time. Dr. Roth thank you but I am sure you would not want to be treated in this manner.

The result: almost no waiting time (15 minutes MAXIMUM) at his office. He has a great referral network. He's affable yet efficient, good- humored, and he takes your health and privacy seriously. When he has test results for you, including and especially STD/STI/venereal disease tests, he himself calls you. If you don't pick up, then he leaves you a message telling you to call him back, but doesn't leave the results of the tests themselves in the message. Those he ALWAYS gives you over the phone or in person. He delivers the good news briskly, and you feel he is as happy and relieved as you are. I've also seen him deliver uncertain or bad news with kindness and understanding, spending hours with her and her family discussing which option would be the better one. It was a contentious proceeding, but he handled it with diplomacy. professionalism and patience. The process lasted for several hours, concluding in a major decision that prolonged the patient's life. He has embraced the latest technology and pioneered an easy check-in process that streamlines the provision of patient information including insurance.

Nice, pleasant and thorough the colonoscopy was quick well done. Doctor is congenial informative.read more

DR. FOCAZIO SAVED MY LIFE!!!…read more No exaggeration here, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with low platelets late January 2025 at mountainside. Although I was complaining about my stomach they never bothered to do appropriate testing and gave me the boot with a dangerous, near infusion level platelet count (20k range) and slapped an idiopathic diagnosis on It. I rolled along for months filtering through one other gastro and decided to switch to Dr. Focazio. Within a week of thorough testing and analysis he found that I was carrying a rare and extremely deadly novel bacteria inside me that I likely got on a work trip back in November 2024. It was then treated promptly. After feeling a bit better with the bacteria being eliminated I have been experiencing after effects that I thought would never go away but I stuck close to Dr. Focazio and am finally starting to heal. Both myself and my entire family, who have been grateful, could not recommend a better doctor. Dr. Focazio specializes in Gastroenterology but is multi disciplinary which includes his expertise in infectious disease. He has helped me through such a miserable portion of my life where so many other doctors have failed. If you want a doctor to sit down be patient and listen to you with both knowledge of cold hard medicine and also cutting edge knowledge of natural treatments this is YOUR DOC. The staff has been friendly and helpful. I can call them whenever and they hear me out and get back to me. They let me know exactly what the doctor says to do if I have a weird test and are relaxed when there's nothing to be worried about. Both the doctors in my family and other doctors I've seen have commended Dr. Focazios choice of treatment and consideration of my symptoms. I always said if you want a good doc go to one that's not only a doc but also a surgeon. Not only are they schooled but they also have the healing mechanics built into their hands. If you want your life back make an appointment with Dr. Focazio today.
