`When we first moved into Partenza, there was a delightful property manager named Renee and a handyman named Juan who made repairs quickly. Since then, there's been a constantly revolving stream of property managers, and it is extremely difficult to find anybody in the office at any time of day (even if you've made an appointment). The apartment complex also is extremely slow to make repairs, if they make them at all. (We've had a dryer that continually beeps for "lint removal," making it nearly impossible to dry our clothes, and have asked for this to be fixed for over three months, to no avail.)
Beyond the lack of repairs and nobody ever being in the office, the apartment also can't keep its numbers straight when it comes to the cost of rent. On multiple occasions we were quoted different figures over email ad when we ent to sign. After we went month-to-month, Partenza tried to raise our rent with only 11 days notice, rather than the 30 required by law. They also asked for 60 days notice to move out, rather than the 30 required by law...and even tried to make us sign a form which would've reset the clock. And they thought we had moved out months before we did. They'd constantly change the rent, refusing to honor rates given by previous property managers in the revolving cast of property managers.
The rent has gone up about 50% in four years, but the amenities keep diminishing. There used to be water in the gym, for example, but it was removed. There are pieces of tile in the walkway that will probably never get fixed, as well as water leaks that leave mud everywhre.
The complex isn't exactly safe. The gates are consistently left latched open throughout the whole complex, the parking gates are left open at night when they're supposed to be closed. I've had my license plate stolen from my car. I've had my car broken into. I had a neighbor hold onto a misdelivered package until UPS threatened to investigate. And, of course, there was a double murder by a man who turned out to be a serial killer in the apartment complex. The complex responded by putting out a legal letter telling us we weren't permitted to speak to the media in spite of the fact that tenants, too, are permitted to free speech. I can't think of a single thing the apartment has handled properly.
It's a good central location, and they do allow pets, but I highly regret ever having stepped foot on the property at all, or not leaving when the last competent property manager did years ago.` read more
