A glory of colourful fruit and vegetables sit outside the shop, definately tempting the health-conscious shopper into eating well. There are always seasonal fruit and veg along with more exotic items, and all at very reasonable prices. Look out for their 'bargain 50p bags' of veg and fruit that's just past it's best and sold in use-tonight bags for a fraction of the usual price. Their occasional bargain bags of bottled juice and soft drinks are always an excellent deal too. Plus a chance to buy free-range eggs, locally produced oil, flowers and small seedlings and other occasional best-deal buys. For the environmentally conscious there's no wasteful extra plastic packaging either, all fresh produce can be picked straight off the shelves (in the individual quantities that YOU choose) and put in your basket. The shop assistants are always helpful and friendly and it makes buying good healthy food a real pleasure.

Gardeners Patch sell pretty much any standard fruit and veg you would want. You wont find too much international out of the ordinary, but you will find inspiration if you're trying to think of a meal to cook. The staff are really nice and very helpful. I asked lots of potato related questions: best for mashing, roasting etc and they were happy to help. I've by a weeks worth (2 bigs bags) of fruit and veg for less than £10 each time I go.
