Reviewing a Church is a bit uncomfortable for me…read more However, without knowing the facility's regular service, personnel or congregation, I can comment on my experience here during the holidays at a Spiritual music event. + Stars - Easy Parking. There is a small lot off to the West side. In addition, there is lots of street parking all around. + Stars - Restrooms a plenty. Always good for a big crowd. + Stars - Comfy pews. Thank you Lord for padded seats. It makes an event so much more pleasurable to not have an aching back or rear and only be 1/2 way through. + Stars - Great acoustics. So enjoyable to be able to hear those who are talking at the front of the house with or without amplification (they do have speakers and microphones, but not always needed). + Stars - Nice folks. I didn't meet the Reverand of the congregation, but I did meet a few folks who were regulars and they seemed welcoming and open. This is not a fancypants facility, rather plain on the inside, no stained glass or draped finery. But the peacefulness and obvious use of the space made me feel like this is a well-used and much-loved house of God.

Everything is clean, fresh looking, and obtained new security features. When my children were little, statue of Mary that I took a picture of, was all white and so was the background. They did a lovely job by putting background behind her and carefully and painstakingly painting the statue. Truly a lovely place.

For the last few years during Lent they host a fish fry dinner for the community. It is held in the school cafeteria. Hundreds of people turn out to have dinner, fellowship, and donate to a good cause. The St. James Knights of Columbus and their families volunteer to batter fry delicious fish, make french fries, and various homemade side dishes. The side dishes, except the coleslaw, it's homemade by the parents of the school students. The mac & cheese is so, so, so delicious. The students also have a bake sale to raise money for their cause. The students are also the servers who bring our food and clean off the tables. They are always so sweet and hospitable and the beautiful representation of the type of students that attend St James Cathedral school. They only do the fish fry twice in Lent. But if you have a chance next year check it out! Also, most of the Catholic Churches around the area host fish fries during Lent. And I can tell you their food is top quality! And what a better way to have some fish and chips, then by supporting charitable causes.

My daughter is excited to go to school every morning and has lots to share about her busy day when I pick her up. It is clear how much each of the students really loves Yuliya and that they feel safe and supported in her care. Yuliya is also wonderful at communicating with parents. I love the fact that I don't have to go through an app to receive updates. Every day Yuliya texts a few photos and a sentence or two on how the morning went and then takes time to share how the afternoon went during pick up. It all feels very personal. Yuliya is such a thoughtful caregiver and I love her methods of teaching. All of the activities are hands on and often focus on the natural world. She also has a deep passion for books which she helps instill in her students. Yuliya's weekly plans are the perfect combination of structure and free play. Enough structure that the kids understand what the overall schedule is each day, what the theme is for the week, and that for instance Tuesday is playdough day, Wednesday is baking day, and Friday's activity will be for watercolor. But within that structure, Yuliya allows the children to be creative and think independently. She also understands the importance of children playing outside. I wasn't able to find a single school that scheduled more time for outside play than The Ways We Grow. Overall, I have nothing but love and appreciation for Yuliya and The Ways We Grow. We are sad to be ending this chapter and fully support any new ventures Yuliya may embark on.

She is a great homeschooling mom and a knowledgeable educator. I've seen the results of her work in the way her sons are growing and developing into curious, polite, and well-rounded individuals. You are up for a treat with the Ways We Grow as I am confident all of Yulia's knowledge and love will be poured into creating an amazing atmosphere where your kids can thrive and learn.
