Our first trip was during an evening where things were quite lively. Live music was playing from the stage. There was dancing, families everywhere and many street vendors. There are also a number of food court restaurants near the palapas. The ones we visited, all were outstanding and the food was extremely reasonable (ok, cheap), but bring your pesos. My daughter got three huge empanadas for 95 pesos (less than $5.50 US). I got 4 street style pastor tacos for roughly $4.50 US. We also bought esquites both times for $2 for a small cup. Well worth it. On the second visit, it was late afternoon/early evening. The vibe wasn't as festive, but still busy and lively. The HZ buses drop you off nearby and the walk is very short and extremely safe. On our second visit, we walked from Mercado 28 and it was still very safe.

Tacos, tortas, pizza, turkey legs, marquisette, crepes SnoCones, bags, clothes, art, massage stands. It's a one stop shop- socks, jewelry, kitchen dishes, souvenirs yes! I don't know if you would find a parking spot so I say uber. It starts around sundown and their out there until 11pm at least. It was so hot no winds and lots of people packed in there. Not much seating or benches, tables they had were occupied and people wasn't moving anytime soon. Unbeatable value for the money... has camping and very basic rooms - no mosquito nets, no blankets…read more(just sheet), no AC, no hot water. But it is THE only affordable place along the beach. Not on the beach, but a short walk across the street and you are at the southern end of the Tulum beach, which is the least busy part and some of the safest swimming, and miles to walk south into the reserve. Also a mostly-above ground cenote behind the hotel makes for great swimming (warmer than the ocean) and kayaking. We paid around 37US for a room with two double beds and an en suite bathroom (the bathroom isn't very nice, though), and could not find anything else along the beach for less than 50US, and nothing with en suite bathrooms for less than 100US. You are paying for the location around there, and if you don't mind basic, this is the only place for shoestring travelers to stay. Be aware of location... on the right as you drive south, you pass Xbalamque (which is more basic for double the price), then Cenote Encantado (which is expensive - but has practically the same name), then Encanto. All are close together. Manager Alexis speaks good English and is very helpful. Self-catering kitchen.

They only had two tables; one had a player that was loose and would spin around, and another one the ball wouldn't roll out so we had to tilt it over every time to get it. You can swim with dolphins, seals, boating, jet skis, beach. It's not a resort it's a recreation area with residences and hotels so you get a better Mexican experience! There are tons of restaurants from tacos, seafood, Italian, or bbq. It's not too expensive. It's a different kind of holiday, unlike going to an all inclusive, pigging out everyday and laying on the beach. There are actually locals as well which Go there. It's like you know your at a good Chinese restaurant when the locals go too! If you like more adventure, nature or just being active, Puerto Aventuras is a great option!

We dropped in the cool water and began walking through the underground waterway, with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites surrounding us. (Quite refreshing, from the hot and humid summer heat of the jungle surroundings). Later in the evening we climbed the top of the large water slide. I was not ready for the twists and turns, along with the stomach to the mouth unexpected downward plunging sections. At the end of the ride, I was both exhilarated and exhausted! One of the park employees, Issac, who is now my hero, noticed how fatigued I was and went out of his way to help me out. Leading me to a nearby hammock, where I spent a few hours getting my equilibrium back under control. At the end of the night, Issac unexpectedly returned and presented me with a few complimentary gifts, a beautiful embroidered tote bag and a stone night light with the Heart emblem with the Xplor logo on the front. The price itself, I guess since we used resort credits and we got admission to both wet n wild and dolphin swim, it wasn't too bad, so I wouldn't know what the real price is for getting in here by itself. Also, it comes with lunch, but the lunch itself was really bleh. I guess my expectation at the time was really high because of the Sun Palace food that we've been getting, so it's not necessarily a fair comparison. So yes, basically after our dolphin swim was over which was at 2 pm, we took a taxi and left the park right away. Didn't care that there was a bus that was coming to pick us up at around 430pm. There are only 3 main slides, a wave pool, and a lazy river. The park opens at 10am but the only thing open was the wave pool. Everything else opened 10:30 and later. From booking with Moon Palace, a voucher for 3 drinks and 1 meal were included. Meal choices included tacos, pizza, or burgers. Out of everything I think the burgers were the best however food is only barely edible. I thought other reviews were over exaggerating, but they are true. Birds are flying everywhere around the park trying to pick at the food, even from the trash can. Bird poop is all over the lounge chairs. And metal is rusty everywhere. You get through all the activities in the first hour in the park and then you wait around for the boat to take you back to your resort. I would give this place zero stars if I could. One star for the 3 free alcoholic drinks I had to bare with this place.
