This shop really looks like the home of someone who has just moved in, but someone who has spent…read morehis entire life collecting stuff, and now he has just moved into a studio apartment in the city. It is seriously unorganised madness inside. Well actually that's unfair because most of the items do seem to be organised somewhat categorically. Anyway, it's a bizarre place that has quite a random selection of second hand goods for sale; from books, CD's and DVD's to artwork to other decorations, appliances to swords and basically anything else you can think of. The swords are so cool and there are heaps of them (actually they were the things that attracted me to the store in the first place). However, I can't help feeling that everything in here is a little bit expensive for second hand stuff; maybe this is because it's on Queen Street so the prices are bumped up a little.

This is one of those shops where you just walk in sometimes and start making irrational purchases, totally off the cuff. There's all sorts of random, quirky, weird and wonderful stuff in here, and you just decide you need it! In previous visits I for example have developed a sudden need for various bags, satchels, watches and ceramics. There's lots of other stuff from there I'd like too but I can't quite justify it when there are so many things I actually need. To see them still trading today is like watch a uplifting Disney under-dog story. M Clearance stock housewares and glassware, so is a great place to buy cheap but quality wine glasses. And you don't have to know the difference between Swarovski or Zwiesel. Just honest and decent products, with cheerful service usually reserved for outside of the Parnell suburb. If you are growing up and moving from being a student into "in a relationship" M Clearance is a great place to get some reasonable kitchenware. Or if you have recently moved into the fancier side of town and have just been made aware of the difference between a red wine glass and a stein, you can step up your game here without breaking the bank.

Parnell is the oldest and one of the most affluent neighborhoods in Auckland - dating back to the…read more1840s - and it ended up being one of our fave spots we visited! We wandered around the tree lined streets and enjoyed views of the harbor in search of some lunch after exploring one of its magnificent historic cathedrals. Quaint cobblestone paths lead into hidden courtyards with cute bridges and statues. There are boutique shops and eateries around every corner and even in the basements and up beautiful winding staircases. The buildings all appear to be glorious Queen Anne style with their cute gingerbread wood trim accents - one of my fave aesthetics! Our lunch here at the Java room was one of the best meals of our trip - highly recommend!! And the pavlova with the passionfruit sauce at the Chocolate Boutique is a must. We were staying in the CBD which is a couple of miles away so we arrived via Uber which was very affordable. This is a great place for shopping and just meandering and I truly wish we had more time to explore on our trip.

Although most of the galleries were closed due to Auckland Day, we were able to buy a couple of delicious lamb pies from a bakery and munch happily as we walked down the road enjoying the sunny summer afternoon. Tip: Take the Explorer Bus to the Cathedral at stop #6 and then walk to stop #7 to pick up another bus.

And this is what I think New Jewellery is. Now don't get me wrong I have a lot of respect for Karen Walker and I'm a little bit decked out in rings from K Dub, Boh Runga and Meadowlark but let's be honest. Their stuff can get old. Some of it is overpriced and dangled on the bodies of every girl in Auckland. So if you're not into that scene and you want something beautiful that really is a bit unique I'm sure you will find it here! There's an insane amount of jewellery in here all categorized by the different designers. The prices vary a lot, which is good because amongst the great pricey pieces there are some awesome little finds. My most recent find was a tiny pair of skull earrings. Who needs Kdub skulls when you can have these. They are really gorgeous and only $20!! If you're walking up or down High Street you have to go in here!
