Five stars are not enough for Parkside! I began emailing Jimmy a few months before I actually made a decision and ordered up my bike. He was so patient with me, and so informative. Jimmy let me know that my bike was in, built and ready for me. I drove 3 hours from my house to Parkside, hoping the customer service would be as good in person as it was over email. I had no idea that it was about to get even better. When I arrived, I immediately felt a sense of ease just by seeing the progressive pride flags and inclusive signs in the windows. Jimmy and Dan greeted me right away as I walked in the door, and with patience, even though it was the second they had opened for the day! Most other bike shops, I have found, will not make an appointment for service. It's a first come situation. Again, coming from so far away, I asked ahead of time if Jimmy would do a tune up on my FUJI bike for me and he quickly told me it was on the schedule for the day. They serviced my bike, made it easy for me to pick out items in the store that I needed, and even helped me finagle my two bikes in my car so they wouldn't scratch as I drove the 3 hours back home. I wear my Parkside Bikes t-shirt with pride, and get compliments on how well my new Bianchi bike looks (especially with the perfect water bottle cages that Jimmy installed for me). I give my highest recommendation to anyone looking for a new bike, accessories or a tune-up. I've been in customer service for many years and hadn't seen service like this before. HUGE thank you to Jimmy and Dan for the amazing experience. I'll be back!

If you can't imagine dropping $1000 on a bike, or if you want a good spit-shine for ole rusty, this little shop is a sweet find. They keep a steady stream of newly refurbished bikes, all pretty affordable, and they are good with repairs. I recently had my back wheel pinched, along with the whole gear cassette, and Ben took care of everything, ordering the right parts and calling me with updates. I kinda wish they sold used cars too.

My purchase

I just got my bike today. I've been waiting ages to get one and I finally bit the bullet as an early birthday present to myself. This was a successful visit and I left with what I wanted and needed. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because the first time I came in to the store, which was last year probably in September or October, I got a very frosty/cold-shoulder/completely-uninterested-in-helping-me reception. It made me apprehensive to go back for my bike buying needs. But because I didn't want to also buy a bike rack for my car, I went back to Parkside because I could walk there and ride home. I'm glad I did go back, but the first impression certainly stuck with me...

Inner tube change

Called around for my bike inner tube size and I was fortunate that they had the available size. My bike was repaired on the spot in less than 10 mins. I appreciate the welcoming and attentive fast service! I also picked up other supplies while waiting.

Always great service at this bike shop. They don't push products on you which is why I kept coming back. They will explain things in detail and even show you how to do the simple stuff like tire repair, so that you aren't stranded on a ride. These guys are extremely helpful. No wonder they have a sting following. I think it's the best local shop for sure!

Many thanks for replacing a popped front tire and tube! Happy bike once again.

I'll be checking back in for the free tire air and some tune ups in the future!

5 stars for its location being exceptionally convenient to me…read more 10 stars for Gravel, the shop dog. A lil' pricey. I am early in my biking life. Sort of...I bought my bike years ago from another shop and had an un-ideal time there. Then I got more in to running, injured myself, and just kind of focused on on-foot travel. Then, after 3 years sitting lonely in my shed, I liberated my two wheeled transport back in to the daylight. But my baby needed attention and care that I don't yet know how to perform myself. Grit is less than a mile from my house, so I could easily walk it over to the shop. I knew that they did tune ups, which is what I needed. But they also focus more on selling and servicing higher end and specialty bikes. But they won't turn away a hybrid or lower end cycle that needs some elbow grease. I tried to prepare myself for how much a tune up might run me, so I did a google for the average price. And I checked Grit's website to see what it cost. It was not listed on the site, though it did indicate it is a service that is offered. The price is displayed on a sign behind the counter. It was about $20 more than the high end of the average range on Google. But that is ok...after talking to other more serious bicyclists in town, they told me the price was fair, and I had already decided that the convenience of the location was worth the price to me. The work was done in two days, and I got a text from the shop informing me my bike was ready to pick up. Clean and shiny and ready for the road! Chances are very high I will be back here.

I know, normally I use Yelp just for restaurants. And I didn't find Scheller's using Yelp…read more Already knew they were there. But after my recent experiences I have to post. In keeping with my regular review policy here's the summary: Schellers is great. So far it hasn't mattered which location I've been to everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I won't look anywhere else for bikes after the service I've gotten there for my little stuff. About a year ago my wife and I got a True treadmill from Jesse out in Middletown. Great service. Jesse was very patient and helpful and ensured we go exactly what we needed. Now I'm in the market for a bike. I haven't really ridden in close to 30 years so there is a lot to catch up on. New technology, new prices (my last bike was $110 used, and yes I sound like my father...) I had a price in mind and quickly found out I was going to have to change my budget based on what my riding style. I pulled out my old bike and started riding it to make sure I still loved it and that I could still handle it. All of that leads up to the reasons I'm writing this. I still haven't picked out a bike but I'm getting closer. I've talked to Mike and Zach at Okolona and Jerrod and Ian in Clarksville. These guys have all been incredibly patient, knowledgeable and helpful. I had to spring for a new helmet. Ian spent a lot of time with me trying on every single helmet. Finally found one that fit and was comfortable right off. The service I have seen and experienced is fabulous. I say a young man and his mother come in with a handlebar problem. Mike took quick care of him and sent him on his way a happy rider. I lost a small part on my old bike and Zach took time to dig one up so I could get riding again! And these guys are always happy. Long story a tad longer, it is obvious to me that these guys all love bikes, cycling and cyclists. On another note, in Clarksville I met Brenda! A regular there I am told. Great personality, fantastic knowledge and fun to talk to! She was a great help in finding the right helmet.
