Then I got a financial advisor and she told me to go to On Call Accounting & Tax Services out in Hampton Bays, NY. First of all, I'm paying much less than my old guy because I'm not paying Manhattan prices! I worked with Rhonda Cohen on preparing two years of taxes which I was very late on. Because I'm based in Manhattan, I wasn't able to visit their office in person. Rhonda was very helpful in talking to me over the phone and we pretty much took care of everything by email/regular mail. I explained to her that the IRS gave me a pretty tough deadline, and she really worked hard to make sure I was able to file by that date. I'm so grateful I found these guys! I am such a scatter brain when it comes to this sort of thing, and they helped me to feel like I really knew what was going on and how to stay on top of things.

When dropping off our documents, we were questioned about: 1) residency - we rent a condo for the winter, but own no property, collect no income nor hold no documentation (license, change of mailing address, utility bills) in SC. We own a full time residence in upstate NY, which we maintain year round, live in for 3/4 of the year or more and which we occasionally return to in our snowbird months. 2) NY City residency - again we reiterated that we do not nor have we ever owned, resided or otherwise been a NY City earner/taxpayer. We have been to the city a grand total of 3 days in our six decades of life. Despite answering repeatedly and firmly these same questions, we were charged for 45 forms - which included multiple South Carolina and New York City forms - and mis categorized as part time NY state residents. We were even given a NY City school credit which we are not due. We paid $550+ for this service, and will now be having our 2025 tax returns corrected by a local NY agent. Our trust was breached severely.

I was told she will contact me at the end of July to close my books for the month, I emailed numerous time, got no response, I called and left messages, finally someone answered and told me she saw my email and Carol was available that day and she will let her know to call me, but again I did not hear any thing else from her or her office. After another week went by, her assistant called and said Carol wants to setup a meeting. I agreed, when I spoke with Carol, she started asking about things on my bank statement out of the blue, nothing about her being unavailable, it was very strange. I immediately told her I no longer wanted to work with her, she quickly got off the phone. She may be a bit unstable.
