At first, I didn't plan to stop, but about 300 feet farther down on the same side, I spotted an abandoned gas station covered in thousands of hanging shoes. Curious, I decided to make a U-turn to check it out. As you can see from the picture, you can park right next to the abandoned gas station. There was another group of people taking photos about 300 feet away on the other side, but parking options are limited--you'll need to park along the roadside unless you have a vehicle with all-wheel drive. According to the sign, it seems that someone named Dominic passed away at a very young age. However, I couldn't find any information online about how this shoe display started. Highway 62 connects Lake Havasu City to Joshua Tree National Park, and it's not a route many people would typically travel. But if you do happen to drive this road, make sure to stop and check it out--it's definitely an interesting sight.

This weird building has had many tenants over the years -- including a real estate business that actually turned out to be a complete scam, selling houses that never actually existed! Today, you'll find a strange museum that houses what the owners say is evidence of alien encounters in the area. We had our dog, Doug, with us and were allowed to bring him in with us as long as we carried him. So I definitely got my workout in that day! The museum is tiny and costs $10 per adult. Did I understand everything in the museum? Did it make sense? Umm, definitely not! But we think it was well worth the stop for the weird experience alone. Before you leave, make sure you stop at the little store at the base of the museum to pick up some beef jerky.

The gift shop is small and they are expecting more inventory soon. The displays were nice and informative. I like the history of the location and information about project Icarus. The women on site were very friendly. We didn't pick up snacks at the store but it seems like the jerky is something worth trying. There was one additional shop on site that was closed but has beautiful sculptures near it. I recommend you to stop by, stretch your legs, and get creeped out by the alien stories. Can't wait to see how this place evolves.

This was a fun and scary drive part of Historic Route 66! When hubby was driving on this mountain pass on our way to Oatman, I had to cover my eyes sometimes but then I would get dizzy so I kept my eyes open LoL! It took us about 45 minutes to reach the town of Oatman driving through an entirely paved road with very few guardrails. I would not attempt driving this road after dark. Sitgreaves Pass is listed in the website of dangerousroads.org. I snapped a screenshot of the description and the ride experience. This is one of the nicest pleasure walks available in Laughlin/Bullhead City area for miles of…read morepaths for bicyclists, pedestrians, and equestrian riders. The path even leads you to Laughlin Riverwalk. For meditation, contemplation, or just plain leisurely walking, it is really nice. It was terrific after a heavy lunch! There is access to restrooms, shade shelters, incredible natural wildlife and fauna are an incredible template for relaxing as well as getting your cardio moving. Right on the Colorado river gives you an incredible view of not only the glistening ripples of flow, but an incredible experience of changing colors of water and the nearby dam. Contemporary meets ancient. A truly soothing environment.
