We had our dog with us so we did not do an abundance of walking around. From what I saw, there were no places that welcomed pets in the businesses. It makes sense and it was no biggie, I just did not spend as much time as I would have if pets were welcome. I stopped into what I thought was a deli but more like a restaurant with a counter, hoping to purchase goodies for home. There are several stores for shopping, which were fun to browse. I only purchased some chocolates in a candy store, which apparently were made in house. I definitely want to visit here again with more research.

I took COTA Bus #5 from downtown Columbus (Ohio Statehouse) and explored the area just north of the park. The brick houses and cobblestone alleyways provide a glimpse of life in the 1880s and early 1900s when this area became a central hub for the German-American community. I don't think there are too many kid-friendly activities or museums nearby - but it makes a pleasant excursion if you're stuck at the Convention Center for a conference in downtown Columbus. Street parking looked a bit challenging. If Bus #5 is running slow on your return trip from the German Village back to the downtown area (it can be up to a 30 minute wait if you just missed the last bus), consider taking an Uber/Lyft taxi instead.

This garage is easy to navigate and just across the street from the Ohio theater. We did have to walk up some stairs to get to the theater but it was not bad. Now if you can't walk up stairs then this might not be work for you because they are a bit steep. I'm not sure where the handicap exit was or if it is available. If you've ever visited a larger city, you understand. Anyhoo, this parking garage is located right in the heart of the neighborhood, on the corner of Hubbard Ave and High St. It offers hourly rates that are pretty reasonable given the other options in the area. A few things to note. 1) They have a couple EV charging stations. 2) Hold on to your ticket because if you lose it, you'll be paying a hefty $65 dollars to get your car out. 3) You can pay either at the gate or before you get back in your car at a kiosk. Long story short, don't avoid this area of town because everyone says parking is a nightmare. You just need to know where to look... and Yelp can help with that!

Parked here as didnt want to pay for parking at Hampton Inn…read moreIts pretty easy to figure out how to cut through to the hotel and short north road Its excellent value if you are going into the garage fairly late (after 5pm for instance) and leaving early the following morning as there is a fixed charge for night parking which is very low but then an hourly charge kicks in from about 5am. If you leave later that morning you could be paying $3 an hour.. For me it was cheap as the fixed rate plus a few hours in the morning came to less than $15 so it was way cheaper than Hiltons $40+. If you are going to leave it there all day better to look elsewhere unless you have a monthly rate
