In so doing, it also set me up for a perpetual string of schnitzappointments. During all of my travels in Germany, Peter's has served me the best schnitzel I have ever eaten. Ever. Hands down. No contest. I was addicted to their Schnitzel mit Champignons. Very lightly coated with flour. Extremely well seasoned. Tender yet crisp. Blanketed in a decadent cream sauce dappled with mushrooms. Mit pommes. MIT POMMES!! Möchtest du Mayo? Kein Problem!! Even the side salads were crazy lecker. Trust and believe! And the service was bar none, a-number-one, aces, tops, uzw. A friend and I once stayed there well after closing, killing bottle after bottle of Riesling, and the owner/manager continued serving us! Very rude of us for sure, but the staff were quite gracious despite our appalling lack of manners. Hey, we've all been there, so don't judge too harshly. Peter's certainly didn't. When I think of schnitzel, Peter's inevitably comes to mind, often times haunting me and taunting me in my dreams. And yet, no matter where I go -- even in Bayern where good food is the trademark, nothing comes close. Not even by a mile or a kilometer. And that's why I hate this place so soundly! I pine for the day that I return to Höngen and eat my body weight in schnitzel. Peter's schnitzel!

The Breakfast is very nice, good variety and much more than someone could eat in one sitting. I feel guilty with the amount of food I don't eat. The dinners are absolutely awesome. The schnitzel is the best I have had during my many months of work travel in Europe. Sofia is fantastic and made me feel at home the minute I checked in. Can't wait for dinner tonight!

It was a…read morevery pleasant and enjoyable evening with friendly accommodating service and the food was good but not spectacular. The decor of the place is impressive. You enter into an area that almost is a traditional Gasthaus, with the rustic feeling and cozy little side booths. As you go deeper into the restaurant is this massive, handsomely decorated, wide open glassed in dining area that had a touch of elegance but without the coziness of the other section. We were promptly greeted and served our drinks. My only complain was that I asked for a Grosse Pils and got it in a stein. Sacrilege! :-) One should never put a pils in a stein. The gemischtes salateller was a nice mix of fresh greens, carrots and interestingly a pasta. The dressing was not the traditional oil based, light tart one that brings out the flavours. It was more of a thousand island clone. Okay but would have preferred what we would term the more traditional dressing. The salmon portion was a nice size with a generous helping of Bernaise sauce. The fish was nicely cooked however it lacked seasoning and the sauce lacked depth. The side of veggies was nicely done with a good mix of sprouts, peas, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots. A bit more flavour with the fish and a sauce with richer flavours would have made for an all star dish. The Chef's special 'pfanne' was a generous portion of beef, mushrooms and bratkartoflen'. A tasty dish with a very nice rich sauce. The potatoes were the all-star of the dish. Cooked to perfection and nicely seasoned. The mushrooms were also nicely done. The beef, while tasty, was a little on the chewy side. In retrospect I was eyeing the Cordon Bleu but shied away because it was with pork, not veal. Next time. In the six years that we've beennin this area it remains one of our favorite stops. Very close to the bicycle path makes it great for a rest stop when out cycling too.
