So, I just went with it. And to my surprise, the service was great. After filling out the forms, I waited about 10 minutes before they called me. When I went to the back they had maybe 5 of us together and we all were called back individually by different medical staff. It was very organized and efficient. After doing my mammogram, I then got dressed and was sent over to do my bone density scan. The bone density scan result came back the same day in MyChart. And the mammogram results came back maybe a week and a half later. The quality of care was inline with other places I've gotten mammograms. The entire process took me about 45 min. If I had only gotten the mammogram it probably would have taken 25-30 minutes. I say all that to say this. Make sure you're reading ALL of the reviews. And make sure the reviews are written by reputable reviewers.

After my mammogram I waited for the ultrasound where another person had to leave between these two services because she was also so late for work. 2 people missing diagnostic exams because the examiners were so far behind. And that's just in the 2.5 hours I was there! I understand imaging places are understaffed but to already be running a full hour late at 10 am is terrible planning. Two women leaving between two imaging sessions because they couldn't be any later to work is terrible health care administration. I have to come back in 6 months and I'm going to try and find a location that isn't run this poorly. Wish me luck!

I had to reschedule for the Palm Harbor location a week later. When I arrived, the front desk insisted I had the wrong date and time--until I showed them their own confirmation text and they suddenly realized they had double-booked the machine. No apology. After the test they said the CD with my images would take 3-5 minutes. I waited over 15 minutes only to be told the employee went to lunch and probably forgot. Three days later my sister tried to pick it up (her name was already left there) and the staff refused to listen--even though the CD was literally sitting at the desk with her name on it. Completely disorganized and terrible customer service. I can only hope the technicians performing the scans are more competent than the front desk staff. The irony is that they have a memo on the front desk window reminding patients to be respectful because it's a healthcare facility--maybe the staff should read it too.

When I spoke to manager she claimed this was a promotion that expired. I explained that was not relayed to me when I scheduled my appt, she said this was out of her hands and it would be a corporate decision. Mammograms are never fun, but Hinks and Elaine Shimberg Breast Center at St. Joe's Women's Hospital made the process as painless as possible. After scheduling my appointment they called a few days before my appointment to verify my health insurance and confirm my appointment time. You do have to go through a metal detector to enter the hospital so I would suggest packing as light as possible. After security everything is a breeze. The check in process was so quick and I barely settled in my super comfortable chair before my name was called. The staff is always so friendly and guided me to the locker room and showed me how to use the locker before giving me a gown. This entire area feels more like a spa and less like a doctor's waiting room. Once it was my turn (once again there was hardly any wait!) the nurse/technician escorted to the room for my mammogram where she kindly asked me about my family history of breast cancer and kept me distracted while she quickly took all the necessary images. I have heard so many horror stories about mammograms, but I honestly don't think they are that painful! On both of my visits I think my visits were only about thirty minutes long so I highly recommend booking an early morning appointment! Most importantly, the visits have been completely covered by my health insurance plans so I have never paid for any of my visits. I am due for my next visit in January and I am not dreading the appointment at all!

I do not trust her reading my results or my result at this point. I have gone here for years and never experienced this lack of thorough service before. Once I finally made it inside I was late and they said that I was welcome to wait but they were busy and my appointment was missed. The staff seemed to know exactly where the provided address took me but showed no empathy in a problem caused by BayCare's scheduling team. This is an unorganized mess! You want us here early but provide inaccurate information; and to make it worse, you are aware that of this problem with the address. You cannot keep your schedule so filled that you are unable to correct your own errors. I took this appointment because they had the availability I needed but they were unreliable and missed the mark.

The building is large, the interior is filled with light and offers lots of space in the waiting room as well as the rooms where imaging is done and the layout makes it easy to navigate through the corridors and hallways. All of the staff members/technicians I encountered were very pleasant and really did a great job of acknowledging my arrival, putting me at ease, conducting the procedures ordered by my doctor and quickly sending me on my way. Such a pleasure to feel like I was in such good hands and to experience this state-of-the-art facility. There is limited surface parking at the front entrance but the back entrance connects with a parking garage. It seemed to be used for self-parking the day I arrived but signs indicate there may be valet parking available. I was able to make appointments for the very same week I called to schedule which was fantastic. Easy in, easy out, mission accomplished and, hopefully, won't need to be back for another year.
