The staff did seem friendly and helpful. My check out experience was quick, and unlike some other small newsagents, they didn't have a problem giving me a receipt. Pricing was competitive in most areas, but some essentials such as milk were a tad overpriced. Many of the items which were priced at a competitive rate, had to be as many of the branded items had prices on the label which is what some brands do to protect their pricing strategy. There are no parcel facilities here which is surprising but there are other choices for this around Warrington such as Royal Mail at WHSmith, DPD at Millets, myHermes at Great Outdoors and Collect+ at the Golden Square Information area. Useful store to have in Warrington if you don't fancy going to the larger ASDA supermarket nearby. 3*

They do however have a range of paperbacks and the usual stuff you'd expect in any bookshop. If you really need to browse in tyhe bookshop and don't have the time or can't be botehred to park and walk to it then this shop is idea. My housemate introduced me to it a few months ago after I asked him where he kept getting stacks of new X-Box games and DVDs seeing as he's flat broke. He took me into town and much to my relief showed me Computer Exchange ( I was concerned he was stuffing them up his jumper in HMV). The premise is simple: You bring in Cds, DVDs and games you don't want, they buy them for cash or credit and you pick some new ones you do want. You can also drop in and buy stuff straight up for cash, or equally just go in and sell things, so its more of a pawn shop than a swap shop. Computer Exchange is like a sweetshop full of crappy movies you never knew you wanted but can't resist for £3.They're all here: Rambo 4, Jurassic Park: The Lost World, Alien vs Predator. They also stock plenty of of good films, new releases, world cinema and classics. There is an extensive game collection for various consoles and a few other computery bits and bobs. Prices vary from item to item, as does stock so if you see something you want you'd better grab it because there is no guarantee it will be there again.

I loved this company and am so sad that they have ceased trading. I am also owed a refund although…read moreonly £11 or so. I have emailed and told it was in the queue but it has never arrived and when I went to the website there is now a red notice saying they have ceased trading. There is no longer a telephone number or email address, just their trading address in Stockport. I doubt they have deliberately conned people, they have probably tried to carry on trading to meet their debts, not allowed unfortunately but understandable. I will just sit in the queue and hope I get something back, probably about 50p if I'm lucky. I'm not sure it's worth expending time, effort and money to get your refund, if they have no money they can't pay it back. You will be contacted eventually by someone from the liquidators.

Waterstone's in Altrincham town centre is probably one of my favourite stores within the town…read morecentre especially after the closure of the Carphone Warehouse store which was virtually opposite this one. It is a fairly large and modern store and it does stand out more than most within the town centre's shopping street, especially with the dark nights drawing in through these cold winter months and it is one of the larger stores on George Street anyway. It does shut early but this is common in the town centre and I did find the store again to be a little understaffed considering I did visit at quite a busy time (Saturday, the run-up to Christmas). 3* - Nice book-store for a big town, obviously it is a chain and I feel a little uneasy about paying higher prices at a chain compared to online retailers unless it is at an independent book-store, again this store doesn't compare to larger branches in larger towns and shopping centres but still it isn't a bad alternative if you don't fancy heading into Manchester from Alty.

It could be better lit and sign-posted in the car-park area, especially for pedestrians as it did seem a little dangerous for me, as I struggled to find my way out. Pretty much an average ASDA, the selection was fine, I also like the Scan and Go app where you can use your mobile phone to scan items as you shop, to save time at the checkouts. The staff could have been slightly more helpful in regards to finding items. 3* - OK sums it up, multiple better ASDA stores (or supermarkets) in the area to do your shopping, but it's in a good location and useful for the people of Warrington.
