My family was looking for a place to stop along the way up north on a road trip after staying in…read moresome very dirty and low quality hotels in the Chicagoland area. This Holiday Inn was VERY nice and a great option for the night. The many personal touches and affordable rate made this a very redemptive experience for us. The hotel is advertised as newly renovated and it does look very nice inside. The lobby and breakfast are are newly refreshed. You can tell it's an older hotel updated with fresh fixtures and furnishings and it's all pretty nice and very clean, which is what is important to me! Our room also had modern fixtures and amenities. Interestingly, the bathroom floor had old outdated tile that was not included in the renovation, and was cracked along the grout and seemed a little worse for the wear. But the rest of the bathroom was sleek and very functional so this was a non issue. We didn't spend much time in the room, but the surfaces and bathroom were very clean and the beds were clean and comfortable. Everything in the room (fridge, microwave, safe, heating/air until, etc) worked well. Water pressure was on the lower side in the shower, but temperature was really nice and the tub was clean and comfortable. The gentleman who checked us in at the front desk was extremely quick and friendly. We felt we could get help with anything we needed. The breakfast staff was also helpful and attentive keeping everything stocked and running smoothly. Speaking of breakfast, it was a highlight! There were a A LOT of options- eggs, biscuits and gravy, veggie omelettes, bacon and sausage, and warm cinnamon rolls. There was an oatmeal bar with details like cinnamon and individual brown sugar packets, plus a pancake machine. We didn't try it, but I imagine it would be fantastic for kids. We also enjoyed that they had lots of options like gluten free bread and both chocolate and regular Silk almond milks in their coolers. They had individual packets of Nutella, and yogurts in several flavors. Plus several juices and a coffee machine with decaf. The hotel also offered free copies of USA Today, a bulletin board with community happenings, and board game or two in the breakfast area. This is a great option for anyone traveling through and we'll be back on our next trip!

The front desk almost never had anyone there. There is a sign to let you know that…read more The rooms are dated including a very loud fridge, loose bathroom floor tiles, zero water pressure and sheets that stink like chemicals. When you did get a front desk person they were pleasant except for the tattooed weekend girl who smirks and makes faces or laughs at you and tells you not to speak with her manager because it's a waste of your time :/ If you like yesterdays left overs then you will love the breakfast. The pancake machine was broke then " fixed" to spit out a few half dollar sized pancakes and then breaks again. It was almost comical but after getting an email from the assistant manager it made more sense. There is zero management at this facility and it shows in the lack of hospitality and upkeep.

I recently stayed here coming and going from a visit up north with family and really enjoyed both stays. Service was great: the person who checked me in said she was there training from a location near Milwaukee - she was awesome, helpful, friendly and efficient. She went above and beyond with helping me sort out the area's anticipated weather. The hotel is larger than usual for a suburban location, fairly updated and the beds I had were the most comfortably firm I've experienced recently. All the usual Hilton Garden Inn amenities, from in-house bar and restaurant (though it did seem to be serving better food than some: everything I saw was fresh prepared, not microwaved from frozen), to updated machines in the workout area. Microwave and mini-fridges in rooms, which were typical suburban-sized for HGI. The pool area, even though it's indoor--probably a plus in this area--looked like more fun than the typical small hotel pool. Softer than usual Hilton towels were really nice. Everything was clean and checkout time is noon - bonus. Breakfast to order was complimentary for elite Hilton honors and was well-made, although the options were a little limited. Plenty of convenient parking, all of which appeared safely lit and convenient to entrances. Everything looked accessible, and since my second visit happened just after the first snow of the year, that includes that they did a quick job of snow clearing. The building is arranged with road noise in mind, but that doesn't mean that there aren't rooms more impacted than others. I had no trouble with road noise during my visits (I am an extremely light sleeper without white noise like a fan or something running): one room was on the back side of the building, but one was in the front, though on the far side from the road. Perhaps it is different on weekends, but both of my weekday visits indicated a lot of single business travelers. Pool aside, I didn't see a lot of family-specific perks. With a ton of hotel options located at this exit, this HGI is going to remain my go-to. OOPS, I nearly forgot: one of the rooms I stayed in had non-standard hotel bathtub with a curved bottom and sides, where the lowest spot in the bath was not the drain. Since, ya know, gravity, there were scour / pock marks staining the tub. It was still clean, just not the most visibly appealing. Not sure if they're all like that, but it's a drainage problem, not a housekeeping issue.

So many key elements to dislike about this place: 1) Room…read moretemperature appears to be controlled by central system so in-room controls mean little. 2) For the price, this place sure needs a lot of maintenance. For instance, the elevator is a wreck and is almost spooky. 3) Noise. This place was cheaply built with little regard to sound deadening. For instance, windows allow lots of road noise. 4) Front desk staff and management are in constant game-playing mode with room assignments to the point of being ethically concerning, especially if rates are at all a negotiated rate. I will say that the breakfast and dinner staff was very considerate and I would have added another star just for them if the rest of the hotel had not been such a disappointment. Bottom line, simply no where close to the price point they are charging.

I ask him if he could give me new sheets and blanket, but he said he didn't have any extra blankets which I thought was very strange for a hotel not to have extra supplies. The room smelled musty like mold there was dust everywhere the sheets had stuff on them and so did the shams. The lamp was dirty. The TV would turn on but couldn't get anything to play. The headboard had markings from hands or something. I asked him if I could get a refund but I would have to talk to his manager who wasn't available and I use a third-party through Priceline so this made it challenging.

I stayed here while traveling for work, thought the price was fair compared to nearby hotels. After working all day, checking in, I got to my room and started to relax. When I decided it was time to shower off, I got in without hesitation but my shower was quickly cut short! I looked up and saw a ceiling FULL of BLACK MOLD!!! When I spoke to the front desk, they gave me another room, but when I asked for some sort of compensation, I was told "well we gave you another room" And not only that, they've known about mold in other rooms and said NOTHING!!! The first room they tried to switch me to "still has a spot, but it's painted over" Stay far away from this place!!!

Pulling up, I was skeptical only because, although, it's in a good area, it didn't feel welcoming, however, rather than to judge a book by it's cover I decided to still go in and follow thru with my plans. Side not: They could use big plants/flowers out front.... which could give a welcoming feel!!! The staff were awesome!!! The only thing that I noticed was that, they couldn't use a different credit card for incidentals which was flabbergasting ! The entire stay along with the deposit for incidentals has to be on one card. If you travel alot. You would want to know this! Yes, it matters for those of us who need our perks and points lol Honestly, for this to be a Radisson I expected better quality and an updated, newer decorated facility. Don't get me wrong, it looks newer on the outside but the inside screamed need updates. I'm sure that if they had an interior decorator to come in and update all of the furniture that this could be a 5 star hotel easily. It's the furniture and accessories that gives it an old and outdated feel! Having a indoor pool is awesome, as were the bar and restaurant area. Very nice! The staff were nice enough to allow my local guest to come visit with me while I was in town. Great facility for events to be held because they have a connecting side of the building which caters to events. There's plenty of parking onsite. The hotel also has a shuttle bus which, I'm not sure if it's airport shuttle from Chicago or somewhere else! I'd definitely stay here again because the location is worth it! The beds are comfy and the showers were amazing which is huge for me! The water pressure and temperature was perfect! (Yes, it's a thing) The prices are a bit steep for it being Rockford but, I'm sure that it has alot to do with the casino, shopping and restaurants are all less than a 5 min drive. Thankfully, I had Birthday steals, perks and reimbursements coming. The 2 ladies at the front deserve a raise and 7 months off with pay ( One was a Manager) Thanks Ladies and see ya again someday!

They have a single elevator but it is diagonally across from the entrance, so a long long walk. You could take stair they told me - well how doesn't one do that with bags. We were upgraded to a suite thanks to my Titanium status but the air conditioning in the bedroom didn't work - it took me sometime to realize it after unpacking and they offered to change the room, in that room the air-conditioning was disabled in the living room and it worked in the bedroom. We changed the room one more time again. What a workout. There aren't many good options I am told in rockford, Embassy being the only reliable option. But if you're looking for a cheaper location may be consider alternatives across the street - hopefully they aren't as bad - there is holiday inn, Fairfield, Hilton garden inn nearby. On Marriott has it 3.8 star review, that doesn't do justice - it needs to be average 2 star at most.

Short version: Safe yourself the headache and stay…read moresomewhere else. Long version: When I arrived, I was told I'd been given an upgrade to a suite - room 208. Unfortunately, the room was filthy, the carpet was literally sticky, the ceiling looked like it had water damage, and one of cupboard doors fell off when opened. The worst was that the GENIUS that designed the building, put the elevator at the very back corner of the building. So I was stuck carrying luggage up and down stairs because my room was at the front. (If you do dare stay here, get a high number room.) But wait, there's more... How about being DOUBLE CHARGED to the tune of almost $900?!! I overheard someone else in line complaining of the same thing so I know it's a known issue. The ultimate insult was no one could explain why I was double charged, nor would they even drop some of the incidental charges, so you know, I had money to eat. Instead, I was forced to eat the worst excuse for a BLT from the market fridge, because I had no money to buy elsewhere. I don't know how to stress enough how much this trip wore me down, grossed me out, and ticked me off. For the final act, I checked out at 530a and was told the hold would be dropped from my card & I'd have an emailed receipt "within an hour". (As I wrote this, it's been 6 hours and NOTHING.) I will also be contacting Marriott corporate because this was alllllll just not ok!!!!
