Hi, I really like the Park Laundromat. I'm a night owl who loves to do laundry when the place isn't crowded and there is hardly any traffic. When I found it a few months ago, it had an attendant who was nice. It was clean. The machines work well. There are always quarters in the change machine, and it never has any trouble taking your money. The music is ok, it's never blasting hip hop in there thankfully. And it's basically normal people who act decently, or at least sit there quietly. I encountered one man who was obviously drunk, but what do you expect, it's a public laundromat. He was ok.
BUT THEN. Tonight, I drove up and there was a really serious weirdo standing at the door. He just gave me a really bad vibe. Tall, very thin, young-ish, wearing a black jacket and a ski mask. Lots of crappy tattoos visible on his wrists. He was carrying a plastic bag of stuff, which makes me believe he was homeless. I waited till another person showed up and then walked in with him - that turned out to have been a smart move. The guy was a very obvious junkie, tweaking hard. He started going off about how he lost a black hoodie and it was most likely in my stuff. I was nice at first, but then the guy just started pacing up and down, wanting me to stop my washer so he could look in my stuff, and not leaving me and the other people alone. I started blowing him off and not talking to him. I got the feeling that I might have to call 911. I ended up going out to my car and pulling up my car so I could observe the guy through the window, and locked myself in and charged my phone. He tried to come outside and say stuff to me but I just ignored him, and I was locked into my car so he couldn't get in my space. When my wash cycle was over, I went in and grabbed my stuff out of the washer directly into my laundry bag and just walked out with clothes still wet. He deliberately sat behind me on the counter 2 feet away from me as I got my stuff out of the washer and was swinging his legs, tapping his hands and talking to himself, trying to provoke me and get in my personal space. I got all my stuff into my laundry bag and just walked out, saying "Good luck!" to the guy who was still sitting there. I'm most likely lucky I wasn't attacked. People like this junkie guy want to spread their disease and harm everyone around them, and get them in trouble if they can, so I used my discernment and just simply got myself out of the area. I texted the owner re: the guy and called him and left a message - didn't get a response. I'm now going to find a 24 hour place that has an attendant because I realized that no matter how nice a place is, if it's 24 hour and unattended, things like this will happen. Although Midland Park seems to be a nice place when you drive through, there is going to be a bad element mixed in that will try to take advantage of situations like a clean, friendly 24 hour laundromat. It's a real shame because I really like the place. I live in an apartment with no laundry machine or dryer and I really felt like I was safe doing my laundry late at night at this place - sadly, that's just not so. read more
