The farmhouse sits in a rural field, surrounded by Thoroughbreds and miniature horses. I didn't see any obvious signs, so it's unclear if one can visit or get close to the animals. The farmhouse has been built up over the centuries, and the owners Niall and Gillian Ennis manage the entire operation. Niall's skills in the kitchen are superb, I would highly recommend a dinner date or a simple stay-cation here. Ireland's beautiful green is due to the misty, rainy weather, so do take care and watch your step on external stairs or paths that sometimes become slick and mossy. Our 2-bedroom suite was accessible from just outside the main building - it would be perfect for a small family. Don't leave without having a sip of the famous Irish Gin and tonic made with The Pig's Elbow gin and tonic, delicious!

This is a perfect location close to the Shannon airport and a wonderful start to traveling the Ring of Kerry. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable, very clean, and have private bathrooms. The food provided was utterly divine and out of this world! Super tasty eggs, bread, fruit, coffee, tea and other tasty treats. Price was extremely reasonable for all that was included and happily would have paid more for how wonderful this spot was. Tricia was super accommodating, the house was beautiful and the room was very cozy and had its own bathroom. She brought us two different lamps that did work, but it would've been nice to have the third one. She said, "You like your lamps, do you?" Bathroom garbage had been left from previous guests. Street traffic and party revelers awakened me late into the wee hours of the morning. Not my favorite stay in Ireland.

The room was sparkling clean. The shower was hot with good shower pressure. The bed was comfortable too. I liked that there was a furnace instead of Central heating because it produces a cozier heat that isn't as dry. It is a few minutes walk to town center, though the stores closed at 6 pm. Breakfast was quite nice- best hash brown and yogurt. I doubt I will ever be in this area again but I highly recommend this hotel.

There is no public transportation nearby so if you want to travel on your own your best bet would be to rent a car. The hotel is away from the village so it's quiet and a beautiful property. Check in was easy perhaps because we were with the tour. When we arrived the owner of the hotel was at the front shaking everyone's hand and saying welcome! That was so nice. I sensed his enthusiasm was genuine. That impression was reinforced when I saw some pictures in the hallway of weddings done at the hotel. All the hotel staff were present in the pictures, with the bride, groom and owner front and center. Our room was a great size. It was quiet due to the countryside location. We had two beds in our room: a double bed and a twin bed. The mattress was comfortable. But the pillows were too soft for us. When we got into our room there was an issue with flies. We notified the front desk and they took care of it promptly and to our satisfaction. The bathroom was lovely with a good sized sink. The tub was a bit hard to get into as it was high and we have mobility issues. But we forgot to ask for a low entry point shower so that is on us. There were plenty of lights and plugs in the hotel room. Note that Ireland uses both the EU plug & UK plug. It had the normal room amenities: a safe, kettle for tea, an iron, hair dryer, desk space, luggage rack, closet with hangers. There was also a comfy sofa, coffee table, and a dresser to put your folded clothing. There was a bright security light shining in our window but the blackout curtains work well to block it. Wi-fi is easy to access. We saw the pool and gym but didn't end up using it. There is a spa at this hotel as well but we didn't use it. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but a portable fan is provided if you are hot. There is only one elevator and there are ramps for those in wheelchairs. There are stairs for those without mobility issues. The hotel does laundry if you need it. Though one of hubby's shirts turned out looking more stained. We reported it and received a refund thankfully. All the other items we had cleaned were fine. All the staff at the hotel seem to really like working here. Our experience with all the staff was that they genuinely wanted to help make your experience a good one. Everyone was friendly to us. I was quite surprised. In the past I have encountered hotel staff that aren't nice at all. The food at the hotel is absolutely delicious. The breakfast buffet has many options both hot and cold. The special hot items like an omelette must be requested. They even have a vegan modification available. One night we made the mistake of dining in the village of Adare and there were only two locations serving food after 5.30pm on a weeknight. The food at the hotel was better than what we had in the village. I really like the décor of this place. It's pretty and quirky. There is a fake cherry tree by the front entrance but I thought it looked nice. There are several suites or rooms used for various functions. The largest room is called the Fitzgerald suite and was used for a wedding when we checked in. There is a large bathroom near that suite. There is also a restaurant called Tommy Mac's and a bar located in the hotel. The bar has a smaller bathroom. There is even a petting farm here. There are 3 alpacas, some chickens, peacock, peahen, turkeys, and a rabbit. I love this hotel. It's a little difficult to get to if you don't drive or aren't on a tour. But it has a lot of other positive attributes. In my opinion the big plus is the food here and the service quality from the staff. I'm not sure what the cost of a stay would be as it was part of our tour package. But I think even if it's 400 CAD/night it would be worth it.

It's ideal for a romantic getaway or for families--for kids, check out the pool, "The Treehouse" complex, and the hotel's petting zoo. I've recommended the hotel to everyone I know, and can't wait to return!

There isn't air conditioning, but there is a fan in the room and it wasn't an issue in late September. There was toothpaste on my sink faucet when I checked in, which made me question the overall cleanliness. I could hear everyone who walked by and talked in the hallway. The church bells also woke me up.
