Best fish and chips in Leeds! All food is freshly cooked while you wait and is always delicious. Friendly staff and excellent service.

Ritz Fisheries - Haddock and chips for under a fiver

My housemate told me of the legend of Ritz Fisheries, and I found it hard to believe. Could there…read morereally be great fish and chips so far from the sea -- and in Armley?! It's true, friends. If you're after a fish supper, I'm now convinced there's no better place. As promised, there was a queue half way down the street early Friday evening. Locals know what's up. If you've not given them a go, don't worry about that one bit. I was in within 10 minutes. The fridge has your standard chippy pop options, including (if I remember rightly) shandy bass. That takes me back! The choices are also the usual, so no need to explain. I opted for the regular fish and chips with some curry sauce. Haddock and chips was under a fiver! The fish was cooked beautifully, the batter hardly got soggy at all (unlike most places) and the chips were just what you crave from a chippy. Basically, this place is the business.

This place is quite plain and small, but the menu offers a lot of options. The service is fast,…read moreunless you order either a small fish or a "special" (which is a bigger fish), and the portions are generous. Given that I work near here, I got used to eat fish and chips every friday. I haven't tried many fish and chips shops till now, but my collegues told me that this is one of the best in town. And they are right! The fish is good, damned good. For less than a fiver you can have a huge haddock with countless chips. Honestly I couldn't say anything about all the other choices in the menu because I stick to it and I am not willing to try anything else! Of course you can have scraps for free and add salt and vinegar while they wrap your meal, but if you want a sauce you have to pay for that: add less than one pound for a big curry pot (or mushy peas if you prefer) and you're done! Go for a smaller pot for 45p if you prefer, but it won't be enough... Anyway, this shop is not in a posh area of Leeds, but if you end up in Wortley or Armley don't miss it.

After a night of drowning my Xmas sorrows with my youngest sibling I was in need of food- and kebab…read moreis always the default option!!! She only eats chips & cheese so anywhere suits her but I have to have kebab! Being as we had to trek to the station to get a taxi we passed Mill Hill. Now I'd usually ask the taxi to take a detour past my very regular kebab shop but seeing as there was no Q and the place was clean and it actually smelled appetising we popped in! Kebab meat and salad on chips and cheese is usually something ppl get wrong (there is a specific science to it!!!) but they got it right- with a very short wait. It didn't last long- tasty enough to demolish every last scrap! The downfalls here are- It gets MEGA busy and due to this is gets food remnants and packaging left on tables so doesn't look inviting They never seem to have enough staff so sometimes you have to wait AGES!(or what feels like ages when you're drunk!) They also cook food to order so there is a wait (also a plus I'd say!) All in all it's a reliable stop off point for a late night feed (just don't go past in the daylight!)

Just chipping in as a counterweight to the bad reviews Mill Hill Kebabs have got. It's obviously…read morenot a place for fine dining, but it does exactly what it says on the tin: decent kebabs, chicken and chips with no frills at a perfect post-pub price. If we're being honest, there are much more refined kebabs you can find, but it's just not that sort of place. The guys are the counter are always friendly - especially when you consider how much abuse they have to take from drunken idiots. Cheap and cheerful, which is how it should be.
