The station itself is older but that gives it some charm. If you're coming here thinking you're going to have a whole bunch of food options, think again. There's one little kiosk with a guy selling a few sandwiches and coffee. Honestly though the kiosk guy was great, really friendly even early in the morning. I wasn't exactly sure how this whole thing worked since I'm not from here, but the attendant was nice and explained that my train would have a line up starting 20 minutes before boarding, then we'd all board together. If you're taking a train out of here I'd give yourself extra time and bring your own food (but stop by the kiosk guy for a coffee, he's a delight).

My phone screen is shattered and I have large, colorful bruises all along my knees and left thigh which appeared immediately. I was even bleeding a bit through my clothes. The janitor cleaned the water but was otherwise dismissive and lacking empathy even after seeing the damages. So, I asked him to apologize repeatedly for neglecting his duty . He adamantly refused, stating that "HE (personally) didn't spill the water" and "can't be everywhere at once" lol. The manager had the sense to apologize but was condescending. Talking over me the entire time, loudly defending the janitor within earshot of him. Mansplaining excuses that are NOT the customer's burden to understand such as: "we can't hire janitors 24/7" and "you said the spill looked like it was there for a while? Well, he ONLY clocked in 1hr ago and cleans the restrooms first". How is that my business lol? Any assigned duty during his shift is his responsibility. It's just common sense to apologize. Your internal staffing issues are also not a customer concern; you simply need more janitors or at least for them to prioritize tasks more efficiently. I've worked as a server and can't count the number of times I've had to fix and take accountability for a previous shift's mistake, btw. Annoying to listen to the manager trying to refute and twist all of my legitimate points in the janitor's defense. Yet, fully admitting that he needs to be admonished. Stop being your employee's boy. Teach basic respect. He even countered that this person is a "third party" hire when I pointed out that he still works for and therefore, represents Amtrak. Ridiculous LMFAO. Even ChatGPT finds them rude lol. No professionalism.

The reason for the charge was in part, to make it a more efficient service. HA! More efficient my ass! It was a hot day. We weren't going far. About one mile. From Broadway downtown to near Petco Park. 1st attempt. Driver Kevin was 3 minutes away. Before he got any closer, he canceled the ride. 2nd attempt. The driver (didn't catch the name this time) was 3 minutes away. That driver also canceled. 3rd attempt. Gabriel was 4 minutes away. Then 3 minutes. Then 2. Then back to 3. What? Then jumped to 5 minutes away. Nope. F*ck it. This time I canceled. We walked and arrived in less time than we waited for Circuit to never show up. They canceled on us twice, then the third driver kept getting further away. Ridiculous. I left a comment on the app voicing my displeasure. As expected, I did not receive a response.

My only gripe is that I wish I would have known about it earlier, lol. The app was easy to use and book a ride. When I first loaded it up, I thought it wasn't working, but it was just that the ride window had not started yet (it starts taking rides at 7am, and I was looking at 6:50a). I was able to book a ride immediately and it gave me a waiting time of about 3 minutes. The wait time was not entirely accurate, as it ended up being closer to 10 minutes. But, once I was picked up, it was smooth sailing. I even had my luggage with me, and while it was tricky, I was able to fit it all in the vehicle. Driver was super friendly, too. Because this is totally free, and worked for my needs, I'm giving it five stars. But this is not a good service if you are in a hurry or are particular about how you want to travel. It was an open-air vehicle, which meant no windows and no A/C. We also stopped to pick someone else up so you won't necessarily get a direct ride. If that's important to you, you should get an Uber or Lyft instead. It also does NOT go to the airport, so you will need a rideshare for that. Also, I used this service in the early morning. I can't speak for during peak times. But for back and forth from the convention center in the early morning, it was perfect. And since everything else in SD is so expensive, I'll take whatever savings I can get.

There is a market that's open right here which is good can grab a drink or snack, etc. The trolley runs pretty frequent. It is centered for the blue, the orange line and the Greenline. I let them know our original driver was waiting for us. I didn't hear anything back, so I Joe they cancelled that driver. We finally got picked up and dropped off at our hotel. Phew! The driver was super friendly and understanding when we apologized about the situation. Fast forward to scheduled pick up from hotel to be take to the airport at 4 Am. I was texted at 3:30 that our driver was on the way. I stood outside of the hotel until 4:05 when I called and said "hey we were supposed to be picked up at 4 and our driver isn't here" I don't think they remembered. You could see their car on the map that was not driving. Shortly after my call it started moving. 20 minutes late our driver showed up. Luckily we were able To navigate through the airport quickly to make our flight. I am not sure if these issues are normal? We have scheduled Ubers before at 4 AM and have never had an issue. So It's weird that with a premium car service this would happen. I don't know. Everyone we had Contact with was friendly though.
