Small nail salon that takes Thursday night walk ins (YAY!) and generally can squeeze in a booking at the last minute.
You know what I love? Having great nails despite constant scrubbing and cleaning involved in my job. Unfortunately the only way to achieve that is to file down your natural little nails and stick hard plastic or gel coats atop them and hope you don't snap one. I've payed through the nose for them before and on a recommendation I came here hoping to walk out with a snazzy set of gel nails.
Absolutely hectic this place was killing it with a line out the front. The price quoted was half of what I had payed in Norwood so that set me off on a good foot, "But Carla...why the two stars?" you may ask... well welcome to my hell.
The girl who started on me was quiet and quick, she went to check her phone under the table, dropped it and then got another lady to finish the job. This second girl was pretty grumpy about that and was super rough, grabbed the cuticle remover and plucked at the sides of my fingers really hard and drew blood on a few. Here I was thinking "hey, whatever it's super cheap I can deal with a few bandaids". Payed them with a smile pretty stoked and walked off happy as Larry though sore.
HELLO INFECTION. I went home and my fingers were throbbing, I had a few days off ahead of me and thank god for that because I wouldn't have been able to work otherwise (occ health and safety as well as the fact as I was a thumbless invalid for two days). My thumb swelled up so much I couldn't use it to draw, I couldn't touch anything without excruciating pain and my pinky followed. Pus, redness, looking it up I had got an infection from them breaking the precious skin around my nail too deeply. Mortified I slathered it with antibacterial cream, went on antibiotics and hey presto, sorted within a few days once I had the infection under control. That was a month ago and I was reluctant to post this but Yelp is all about giving people your experience of a place and if I'd read about how rough they were I would just have asked them not to use the clippers. I will probably come back because of convenience though I will tell them to go nowhere near my cuticles and it's worth a try though I strongly suggest you ask the same. Again nice place, convenient just can be a bit rough which causes infections next to the nail. I don't know much about nails etc so correct me if I am mistaken. read more
