Went to parexel for a screening. Every single person I came across was kind and professional. I spoke with some of the study participants in the waiting room, and they spoke highly of this Glendale location, and they said that they prefer Parexel & CCT over any other place. Special s/o to the specialist Warren Y., for not only being very thorough and knowledgeable, but he was kind and truly knew how to break down clinical information for anyone to understand. Some clinical research centers have vitals taken in monitored areas with cameras, which provides more transparency and accountability. I think this center could improve by using a similar monitoring or automatic recording system to help ensure vitals are documented accurately and fairly. Allow participants to see their readings on the machine before they're entered. There should also be a survey or feedback option after each visit so participants can share their experience, report concerns, and suggest improvements. This would provide more accuracy, transparency, and fairness for all participants. read more

Located on the 3rd floor on the far west side of the hospital. Unrelated to the hospital if you ask for a name it will not appear on the hospital list of patients. Entering through the west building lobby just continue past the reception area there's a hall to the left, walk through door leading to outdoor bridge walkway it connects to the facility. Take the elevator or stairs down to the 3rd floor and press the doorbell. Attendant will buzz you in. Staff were friendly and helpful when coming for a visit. Lobby sitting area was clean and welcoming. Mask was required during visit. read more

Watch out for the newbie phlebotomist. They will poke, dig, wiggle needles and make you so dizzy you will lose out on studies over $45000. Everytime I got pokes there was someone supervising. One of the supervisors said GO DEEPER. Why did they wait till 2 painful draws to then insert a catheter IN MY WRIST?! And all done within minutes. I then was given a screening appointment for a $65000 study but than they canceled it because of what the inexperienced phlebotomist did to me. I didn't even pass out..i just got a little dizzy from the pain. Now im blocked from further studies because they let people use me for practice. You can see from the pics how bad of a job they did. They now also can put 5 people in a room because of the addition of bunk beds. And some rooms are next to doors that continuely slam all night and early morning as staff enters and leaves. This place was my favorite until I encountered overt, blatant racism for the first time from a member of the medical team, who made rude comments about my accent, didn't complete the physical exam, and looked for any excuse to disqualify me from the study. After that, I filed a complaint, and this doctor (a member of the medical team) began to interfere with my participation in the study in every way possible. I signed up for a screening, and when I arrived, I was informed that I was ineligible to participate in screenings until I provided certain documents. When I provided these documents, they promised to call me back, but they didn't until I did so myself. When I called back, they said, "These documents aren't valid" (even though I provided exactly what they asked for). What's the point of asking for documents if they don't apply? Why promise to call back and then not do it? When I asked, "Why did you ask for the documents if they don't apply?" the employee said they would "check with the managers," and they suddenly came over. All of this happened while they were enrolling in a high-paying study, and it was clearly the doctor's attempt to harm me and prevent me from participating in it as retaliation for my complaint. When I tried to resolve the issue with someone in management, they simply ignored the comments about racism and the doctor's apparent retaliation as if they didn't exist, merely saying, "But we've accepted your paperwork, and you can now participate in the study." If you encounter anything similar, don't hesitate to file a complaint at Compliance@parexel.com Also, the California Department of Civil Rights, the Medical Board of California, and the FDA. They canceled my screening appointment several times either at the end of the day or at the beginning of the screening day when I was already at the doorstep. The funny thing is that you can't make an appointment for another screening (for another study), even though you have YOUR TIME and no one else will take it. What's also funny is that they canceled my screening because "we've filled the group" and then 3-5 days later you call them and they say "yes, we're still filling that group". What the hell is that? Totally disrespectful, not to mention that it seems impossible to get screened. I've been about 5 times, been signed up for about 8 (and they canceled the rest) and never once passed. While at other places doctors are surprised at my health condition are in reference. While they insinuated that I had a problem with something, I went to the doctor, paid for CT and he said "you're too healthy to worry about". They'll just disqualify you for no reason. read more

This was my first health study and it was great!! Everyday I was here the staff made sure to check in on me and my well being. The staff was really friendly!! Raffi the lead or coordinator of this health study was phenomenal. Always informing me on more things on the health study and always asking good questions on my health and changes. He's a great lead who cares for the participants and his staff. He treats everyone with kindness and care.i can tell he loves his job and Raffi is good at it. Thank you Raffi!! Not good. Disorganized and bad preparation. I went in for a screening and they accepted me for a study. There was two weeks until it started, so I organized to be away from my home for the 16 days it was taking place. I received nothing in writing to say I was accepted. I received two phone calls, one to say I was accepted and to arrive at 6:30m and another saying they had me sign the wrong study and do I could arrive 7am to sign the right paperwork. I called them once to ask a few questions being that i have never done a study before, that was also a topic we covered. They had me confirm a few times that I would in fact be willing to do the study. Come to day of, arrive at 7am, fill out forms, the staff give me these obscure directions as to where to go next, "cross the street, next to the roundabout, look for the glass building." anyways, I park my car and try to walk over and get another call from someone there who also wasn't able to tell me exactly where I had to go. When I asked is it such and such building they couldn't tell me ( they go there every day). Anyways, I get there and get into the research facility. It does not feel good. It is lab rat conditions. Yes, it's clean but they have saddled three beds into one room with 2ft between them. The bathroom is sink, toilet, shower. They give me the urine test cup and I use the restroom and give it back. By around 9am they scan my barcode wristbands and ask me if I ate anything to which I respond Yes, a banana at around 5am. Now I find out this is an issue. they tell me then that I'm supposed ot arrive fasting. Since I received ZERO paperwork confirming the study, no one called me the day before, I had no way of knowing this. So they tell me I cannot participate in the 2 week study. This was not good news given it took 3 hours to drive there. I offer to wait until the time has passed and they say no. I ask to be compensated for my time. It should be $450 for the day. They asked if I could be phone backup for tomorrow I say yes, that should be $450 as well, $900 total. Both disappointed and frustrated knowing I'd be driving back 3 hours, I'm already tired. So I get my luggage and leave. I've called them to discuss this further and got the voice mail. At around 3pm i get a call back from the person who let me go. I asked if they are still wanting to have me as a phone back up and they say yes. When I ask about compensation they say... "your urine test showed positive for ECSTACY, so we cannot have you for a phone back up and you cannot be compensated." Now I know I haven't taken any ecstacy. I know you all reading have to take my word for it but there you have it. So I say that's completely wrong and I will go get a drug test myself and show them. I do that and there's nothing indicating any drugs in my system. It seems this is a tactic used to avoid compensating. It was extremely rude and time wasting, it is clear they see their "subjects" as simply that: a test body to poke, prod, when they need to. Overall I am very relieved I didn't 'subject' myself to such conditions. People say they have repeat visitors but i couldn't see why people would want that. The paperwork I had signed stated $11,000 compensation for 3 weeks and the one I'm supposed to go for is 2 weeks $7k. That's a good bit of money but I dont think it's worth putting your body through all the disorganization and mistakes. While I was researching I searched Parexel in Reddit and a lot of clinical staff from other companies said of Parexal that they spend more time fixing their mistakes. I truly feel like I dodged a bullet and I hope I can not be in this situation where I have to choose money over my safety and wellbeing. I wouldn't trust they would take care of me. read more

Pro-TIp: Paraxel's screening procedures are unique, but not in a good way. If your vitals are found to be elevated (even slightly), or they find anything in your blood (like elevated enzymes or whatever from working out), you run the risk that they will make a determination and permanently ban you from further participation. No other study site does this. In fact no other place will ban you from screening unless you have a serious health condition and/or misbehave in the unit. Normally when you fail a screening (with the exception of detection of drug use), you're permitted to screen again sometime later. Could be days. Weeks. Months. Whatever. I failed my screening as my thyroid was slightly elevated. Instead of allowing me to screen again, and with a doctor's note or whatever it took, Parexel decided to permanently ban me from further screening and participation. This is highly unorthodox. According to my doctor during the time, the elevated thyroid wasn't clinically significant. I should be allowed to screen for a healthy study. Instead, I will never be able to participate at this study-site. Unfortunate, because I have literally participated in a study in every alternative site that hosts healthy studies and I'm left to wonder what study participation is like here. But if the disorganized and militant screening process is indicative of your pending experience in-house, I'd say it's more of a continuation of what's to come: Staff treats you more as a subject/cattle/number rather than a human being with feelings. Seems routine here. They have more desperate volunteers a.k.a more options, so of course they really don't need you. And that's precisely why I was banned. Slight thyroid deviation in blood work? Hello I have Done many studies here and I really do appreciate the time they spent with me. From reading the bad reviews, the volunteers must have done something that was not appreciated by the staff. There are two sides of every story and I do not believe everything on the internet. Parexel has always been respectful, accommodating, and prompt with their lab results. Each time I am admitted I expect the same hospitality and they deliver. Raffi was the clinical coordinator of the study I participated in last time and he would take his time to educate me on what to expect from the study. He would check on me once in a while to see if all things are in order. He had answers to all my questions and I enjoyed speaking to him about sports. Kyoko was the clinical coordinator for the study before Raffi's and she was very knowledgable and accommodating as well. She also had answers to all my questions and would check on us every so often. Ani, one of the research associates, was very comforting when I was nervous about the lumbar puncture. She would check on my well being every so often. The Nurses take care of everyone, a shout out to Tony for helping me out with the IV catheters. I hope to remember the staff's names for next time. The Anesthesiologist did a great job on the lumbar puncture with no side effects (if all instructions as a participant are followed, your mileage may vary) All the providers are awesome. Every time I call recruitment they would help me find a study that would fit my needs. In general, I had a fair and respectful experience from Parexel. If you are going to be disrespectful and suffer from iniquity as a volunteer do not expect to be welcomed back. If your lab results are out of range, they can not admit you due to the strict nature of the study. I hope to see everyone again on the next study. read more

Food is horrible. God awful. Last time I was here for 6 days had a lettuce chicken wrap 5 of those days also every side dish was tomato's and cucumber. And I'm not kidding one day we had tomatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everybody was complaining to the staff. They said they would take care of it. Now I came back and it was the exact same thing. Cucumber and tomatoes on almost every meal or as a side dish. I suggest if you come here and you hate the food leave a comment. Also, the catering company they use is called Anush catering. You should leave them a review too. This is just ridiculous. The proportions are way too small. But I guess if one of the side effects is losing weight, they can put that on the drug and make more money so maybe that's why they starve you. read more

Recruitment/ call center is not great! They are very condescending and patronizing, especially if you're a certain hue. They tried multiple times to keep a friend of mine from participating or even scheduling a screening. To start off...I've done studies all over the country for about 5 years and never had a problem. THE WORST CLINICAL TRIAL COMPANY PERIOD. The staff are extremely racist, rude, beyond unprofessional and they treat you like dam CATTLE. THE STAFF HERE ARE THE WORST IN THE BUSINESS, they will treat you like you are a study rat, they look at you like you are last weeks garbage, will speak in different languages (Armenian & Japanese) right in your face. They will lie to you at screening to get you to agree to the study, then change the study when you check in so then can pay you less, they do this every time. I did a study here and almost Died! And they still wanted me to keep taking the Drug after I collapsed three times! The employees and doctors DO NOT CARE IF YOU LIVE OR DIE. And to top it off they BANNED ME FROM DOING FUTURE STUDIES BECAUSE THEY SAID I WAS NOT CO-OPERATING WITH STUDY PROCEDURES! BECAUSE I WANTED TO STOP TAKING THE STUDY MEDICINE THAT ALMOST KILLED ME. Overall ok. The majority of the staff is really nice and helpful always with a smile on, I mean the young ones. The other ones and the docs gonna sporadically be rude. Only really negative incident was that I got by mistake regular dinner instead of vegetarian ( this has happen before, no biggie they were sorry before and apologized, it happens) and told the nurse that gave it to me that it has meat inside and I already ate it and she told me no its vegetarian I just didn't put the sticker on, I checked with another guy's food and it was the same and you could literally see the beef in the lasagna. Then I went again and she gave me the vegetarian plate, totally different food. She never apologized, neither say a fake sorry and even when the coordinator was aware I was told from both of them: to not eat it if it doesn't have the sticker on, blaming me, like ok thanks. Mistakes happen, take it into account and don't blame the others that is not their job to do something simple as that. They give you a prepaid card and they put the money there for minimal waiting time. So that's good. All of their drugs are not Fda approved, taking that into account they give a lot of side effects! And they should pay way more, considering what they are getting paid from the pharmaceuticals. I overheard the staff looking for jobs elsewhere with higher pay (65k) so that says a lot from both the volunteers side with average pay and the staff with average pay aswell. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Very unprofessional and always unprepared, unorganized, and rude. They make mistakes often and no matter what time your appointment is expect to be waiting hours. They sit around talking while and never have PPE gear on or available despite Covid deaths risings. If they feel like they don't like you they will call in people who just walked in and make you wait for hours despite your appointment time. I've done many studies here at CCT and I've successfully recommended many of my friends to do the same. The food is decent, they have TV, the staff is extremely nice, and the studies pay very well. I wanted to take this time to talk about my personal experiences. If CCT didn't exist, I don't really know how I'd survive in Los Angeles while living on my own. They are conveniently located in Glendale and they have studies for me to do quite regularly. I made close $15K in 2011 doing their studies and that helps a lot to cover the bills. The facility is always clean and organized, and the staff goes above and beyond to make sure that the study participants are comfortable. I've done studies in other facilities and CCT is, quite frankly, the best in the area. Everyone I've referred has been extremely grateful for sharing the information with them and I'll continue to refer people in the future. It's perfect for actors, writers, entrepreneurs, and anyone else who may be in between jobs. I think CCT is an excellent company and I plan on participating in more studies in the future. -Kerry M. No my god I just got off the phone with Paraxal. The medical studies that are supposed to pay you. They just denied me because of the PTSD. The friggin woman kept calling it PDSD not PTSD. And I asked her if she even knew what it was because she kept saying it wrong and saying I have a medical condition not a mental one. She got snotty then And she said yes and then said Post traumatic stress disorder (she could say that right but not PTSD) and kept insisting it was medical not mental and insisting you have to take drugs for it (which is not true, it's rare you're prescribed medication for PTSD) she transferred me to patient studies, the guy acted like he was high or drunk or just really tired and was like, "naw we don't have anything for PTSD, we haven't had anything for a long time. Now we don't have nothing" then just hung up. read more

DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN ANY OF THESE STUDIES!!! I did a study for Alzheimer's disease and was compensated 10k but the only reason I did it was that my aunt died from Alzheimer's disease and I wanted to help those that suffer from it. Anywho my first day of admission was pretty relaxing, they get you settled in and make you feel comfortable. On the second day (procedure day) I was woken up at 5 am and immediately poked with needles (IV) needle and (blood collection) needle, the nurse who poked me had poked through my vein which caused it to rupture, therefore, putting my body in shock causing me to pass out (IVE NEVER PASSED OUT FROM BLOOD DRAWS IN MY LIFE). 10 minutes later and the doctor comes in to hook up the catheter into my back for a CSF collection which didn't feel uncomfortable at all. But wait it gets worse... So I stay in the facility for 8 days total, and on my release day the nurse comes in to take my last blood draw and sure enough, poked through the same vein again causing it to rupture but this time I was able to fight the feeling of passing out although my body was not having it, leaving me feeling cold, sick, and nauseous. (FAST FORWARD TO MY FOLLOW UPS THREE MONTHS LATER) I get a call from a nurse asking how was I feeling? At the time I felt normal. She then tells me "okay, I was calling because we noticed there were bacteria in your spinal fluid" So I said "well I feel fine, do you know what type of bacteria is in my spinal fluid?'' she said, "no we don't, all we know is that it has bacteria in it and just wanted to see how you were feeling". So fast-forward a week later and I develop severe abdominal pain that is just so excruciating I couldn't do my daily activities without that feeling going away, and to this day I still have those abdominal pains, and not one nurse here at this facility was concerned about my health. They didn't order any test to see what it could be nor did they give any advice to seek a specialist (THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU) so I took it upon my own to seek medical attention to my pains and have already gone through a Urologist, gastrologist, and have an appointment soon with an ENT doctor to help figure out what is going on with me and one thing all doctors have told me is that "Clinical trials legally kill you" and this is one of those facilities so please whoever is reading this DO NOT COME HERE!!! They don't care about you and if your 100% healthy like I was they will destroy your health and it's sad because my health has just been depleting ever since I left this place... read more

Overall i am thankful for my experience with CCT/Parexel to make good money between jobs. However, they must address the weak WIFI in the clinic- some of us are trying to run a business while volunteering!! The higher ups just don't understand the importance of it today, because they refuse to address it properly. They make you come at 7am but they're not even open until about 7:30am, They don't send you an email or tell you there's parking. Then you just wait and wait and they have workers with a thick accent that you can barely understand. Staff is great, studies are what they are, however food is the worst part! get ready to not eat....lose weight....if you plan on being here for more than a few days don't expect the food to be tolerable....it's not..,.Ive talked with many patients here and we all agreed that they went from worse to absolutely aweful with the catering.... Pancakes with no syrup, pancakes are rubber like, has browns like ewww, dont know how to explain it, and meat that is bland and your not sure what it is, macaroni is like becareful what else is in there and bacon and sausage is greasy greasy greasy. I have always had a good experience screening with parexel. I have gotten called back for every study I have ever done and notified within a prompt manner if the study will commence at a certain time frame or if I qualified or not. I have stayed at other facilities and this is by far the cleanest and most organized facility I have ever been. My last study lasted about 16 days and for the most part it was a pleasant experience, the food was not all that great but it did the job :) read more

I've done a few studies with CCT, well studies that accept females that can still " have babies". My experiences participating in the few studies I did were great. Whenever I had free time from school, I called and for the most part staff from recruitment / enrollment would call me back...but there were times wherein I would wait a couple of days for them to call me back. There were also times when I would get a lot of calls from recruitment asking if I would be interested in doing another study. I found the staff very knowledgeable about the studies and they were more Than willing to answer any questions I had. When I came in to do the screening process, it would usually be busy in the clinic. Being that I had come in a few times before then, I knew to pretty much devote my entire morning there. But everytime I came in, I was treated very well by the staff, they were all friendly. You pretty much can't escape the waiting time when you are there, but despite that, screen visits for the most part went by smoothly. At the same time I was able to obtain medical services free of charge! =) I was fortunate to be admitted into the new building and pretty much felt like I was on vacation ( and getting paid for it too) =) the staff, nurses and doctors were accommodating and nice. The rooms and restrooms were always clean, as well as the common area where you can sit in a comfty chair and read newspapers. The wi-fii was ok...sometimes the signal was weak, but there are computers that are available for use. Before I knew it, the study was over! The studies did require some follow up periods but those were ok. Overall, my experience with California Clinical Trials had been good and I follow up with them to let them know that I am interested in doing future studies should they come up. read more

Do not trust these people. I went in for a screening and after I told them my race they lied to my face, insulted me by stating I "smelled", then asked me to leave. If that's not enough you have to watch your pay cards because dollars will show up missing for no reason. I would assume they are stealing money from patients.... I"m very pleased with Parexel"s staff. No matter how many questions were asked staff actually answered questions patiently - if did not have answers went through other staff to find out. They truly cared about my well-being while in the hospital . I was given a full tour of hospital location I'd be staying. I had access to t.v"s, play stations games, Netflix, including computers. I was able to grab clean fresh linen whenever I needed so I slept fresh and comfy every night. Anything I needed, shower towels , soap, toothpaste/ toothbrush (fresh toothbrush everyday) , deodorant, etc. I can not count how many times Staff asked if I was kay, if I needed anything. Meals were always on time, I mean always. Staff did not miss a beat. I met amazing staff that I enjoyed speaking with which would be all of them lol - staff of positivity. I had a choice of three different beautiful views from the hospital windows . I love to write and meditate and having to stay in hospital for 6 days the beautiful views came in handy. I took full advantage of recreation / arts and crafts where I learned how much I truly enjoy painting. I was able to take arts and crafts gifts to my children and family. This is my research study . I appreciate the staff for my vacation lol. I"m truly grateful for the experience. The most I'd say I love about participating in this research study is that staff worked as a team all the way through, closely and thoroughly getting everything to work out . Each staff brought their gift of difference and their diligence getting everything done according- I am impressed. I tell the truth and nothing but the truth. read more

They do not call you back to tell you if you made it in or not, I came in to prescreen for one study and in the middle of the process, was asked if I could prescreen for another study starting the next day. I told the enrollment specialist, Mirla, that I would have to juggle my work schedule, find coverage for work. She told me that I was guaranteed to get in, and she was short of people for this Alzeheimer's study. Paying $1,200. I saw on the literature they were looking for white and Asian participants. I am African American. Mirla said it would be "no problem" that she assured me I was in. Well after spending 4 hours testing, the Coordinator comes out and tells me I was excluded due to being African American. After I changed my work schedule and now lost out on my regular work pay! I told the coordinator about what her subordinate told me, and that I pointed out to Mirla the paperwork said White and Asian only. So I was lied to! Mirla came in and apologized, saying she would pay me for the prescreening, $100. Also for the prescreening of the original study I came in for, Cholesterol study, $100. Never received! Broken promises by an inept organization. I followed up with phone calls to the coordinator and Mirla, no one calls you back. If you do get someone on the phone they pass the buck. Mirla never called me back and her supervisor does not want to take responsibility for her staff. I changed my schedule for a lie and a broken promise, losing out on $$ from my regular job. Yes I would have made more money if I was able to get into the 3 day study, but I read the paperwork, and informed the staff, Mirla that I did not think I would qualify as the study specifically said they wanted White and Asian participants. I am African American. She told me "no problem" I would get in. She lied to me and made me waste my time and lose money. I also came back the next day to screen for the original study I came for, no one called me back to tell me if I was in or out. I never got paid the prescreening fee $100. When I called back, to follow-up I was told I was excluded because they wanted African Americans, no Asians. I am African American, lots of mixed messages! Why would I be excluded? is tricky here. staff looks nice but their knowledge is not great. they change dates on you and they tell you ok you are in but they cancel;they push you to do the studies they want. since they get around 30000 and HIGHRR for each person from manufacures to me what they give you is PEANUTS. Very dishonest and manipulative with their study enrollment - they will "blacklist" you for completely irrational and nonsensical reasons --- and not own up to it honestly. Pay is meager in relation to what they make off of your exploitation. Workers are also frequently combative and defensive and just plain rude. read more

They are so unorganized and unprofessional. Especially the Japanese coordinator, Kimmy makes decisions that are based on her poor medical knowledge. I passed all health check and their real DOCTOR approved my participation; however, Kimmy decided to eliminate me for whatever the reason. I really don't know how their operation and process goes, but I guess Kimmy must be the BIG boss to over write doctor's decision. Also, Kimmy is known to select people from her favorite list to notify studies. So unfair! read more
