This is hands down, THE BEST daycare facility you will find for infants on the Central Coast. As we…read moresoon as we stepped in the door we felt as though it had been bespoke for our daughter. Everything is so well curated to provide an environment that children will absolutely thrive in. It has a natural and Montessori vibe that provides a safe space that they can independently explore and learn. Honestly, it's a space that I could personally hang out in for a while. As first time parents, we were very nervous about starting daycare, but Sophie has made the transition so smooth and easy for everyone. Sending us updates through out the day when morning drop offs were rough and it seems like there is always a new activity or toy ready for the babies first thing in the morning. In the short time that we've been with Downtown Baby, our daughters physical, social, and mental skills have absolutely exploded. We feel so happy that she is learning so much and able to interact with other children around her own age. We can not recommend Sophie & Downtown Baby high enough.

My review is for the walk through only as I have not yet decided if I am going to enroll my little one. My choice, if i do decide not to enroll, is only due to my own personal reasons and nothing to do with the facility. I did not know what to expect during my walk through because there was only two ratings for this daycare. I went to the location in Shell Beach. It is daycare out of a home just thought I'd point that out for those interested. The home is very clean inside, like not even a spec of dust from what I saw. The toys are very minimalistic, it's not cluttered, and its very organized. The facility also has two bedrooms for nap time if needed, one for smaller kids, and one for older kids. Both very clean. I could not see the backyard/outside area because it was too dark to see. Overall my walk through was uneventful but I did get the overall feel of the space and the person who would be watching my baby. We did meet at 5:30 as the other rating did mention, but i'm assuming it's because the hours of the daycare are 8AM-5PM and its probably a safety concern to have an unknown adult in the space with multiple children and one caregiver. I would also not want anyone i don't know or haven't met allowed in the space with my child if my child was enrolled there. The location I was at was the home space so, I can understand if that's the only time they offer because of this. There is obviously no isolated room to keep the children in while someone walked through other than a bedroom and that's a little weird to shove kids in there while trying to accommodate an adult. Anyways- based off my first visit i'd say that it's worth checking out if you're looking into childcare.

The tutor assigned to…read moremy daughter was excellent--she enjoyed working with her, and I believe the sessions had a positive impact on her grades. When summer arrived, we decided to pause tutoring services since our schedule becomes much busier due to frequent out-of-state travel. I notified Grade Potential that we would not be using tutoring services during the summer, requested that billing be stopped, and indicated we would resume once the school year began. However, I later noticed continued billing from Grade Potential despite my previous notification. Assuming it was an oversight, I contacted their office and spoke with a representative who reversed the charges. I believed that resolved the issue and that we would restart services when school resumed. To my surprise, while reviewing my credit card statement later, I discovered several additional unauthorized charges from Grade Potential. I contacted them again, and while the charges were again reversed, I expressed frustration and requested that no further billing occur unless we were actively using their services. When the new school year began, our previous tutor was no longer with the company, so we requested a replacement. The new tutor was excellent as well. Unfortunately, her visit reminded me to review my account again--at which point I discovered three more unauthorized charges made during the months we were not receiving services. I contacted the company a third time to request refunds and expressed my displeasure with their billing practices. I was referred to a manager named Taylor, to whom I explained the situation. Taylor offered to refund only two of the three unauthorized payments, stating that their system required at least one charge to keep the account active. This explanation is unacceptable. Their internal computer system should not result in customers being charged for services not rendered. I made it clear that I expected a full refund and explained that we would continue only if the issue was resolved. Otherwise, we would terminate our business relationship. Taylor was dismissive, spoke over me during the conversation, and was generally unprofessional. As a result, I decided to discontinue doing business with Grade Potential Tutoring. This is disappointing because the tutors themselves were excellent. Unfortunately, the company's billing practices and poor customer service overshadow their good work. I will no longer be using Grade Potential Tutoring and would advise others to proceed with caution unless they are comfortable being billed for services they did not receive. I have since contacted my credit card company, explained the situation, and was promptly reimbursed for the unauthorized charges.

The bunk beds are twin size and they kept a broom and pad inside for cleanup. The heater worked great, it kept the cabin very toasty. The cafeteria was close to the dining hall and food was delicious! They gave adults double servings and at almost every meal time, there were enough for seconds for the kids. The boys and girls restrooms were not close to eachother. There were a total of 8 or 9 showers and bathroom stalls. The water pressure and temperture was great. Through out the day you can hear wild turkeys and see them on the trees especially in the morning and I loved it! I loved hearing gobble gobble every morning. Close by there were cows, and on the hikes you can see them. There is an on site health center, learning center and marine center with tons of things to see and do. During recess, the kids were able to play volleyball, basketball, soccer, tetherball and there was a even a traverse wall. The hikes here were great. During the hikes kids could see creeks, bugs, and sometimes even small mammals. There is also poison oak and ticks so it important to pay attention. The best part of camp keep was the staff. The naturalists were so awesome. The kids loved them. Personally, they were the best part! They were so friendly and knowledgeable, and made everything fun even if it was cold. Camp keep is an experience every kid should have and it's an honor to be able to return as a counselor!

I've attended three events she's hosted, and every single one has been thoughtfully designed, beautifully organized, and genuinely fulfilling. She puts intention into every detail, from the structure of the experience to the way she makes every person in the room feel included. What sets her apart from other event facilitators in SLO: her prompts and activities are genuinely creative. Nothing feels recycled or cookie-cutter. She has a gift for leading people into real conversation and meaningful moments without it ever feeling forced or performative. Two of the events were women's business-focused gatherings, and I'll say this: they were professional without being stuffy, and connective without being surface-level. The third was an invitation to simply come home to yourself, not to fix or improve, just to be present as you are. It was exactly what I didn't know I needed. Jessica is warm, fun, inclusive, and sharp. Whether you're planning a corporate event, women's networking experience, workshop, or personal growth gathering in San Luis Obispo, she brings a level of craft and care that's rare. Highly recommend.

Jessica has an incredible ability to create a safe, welcoming space where everyone feels seen, valued, and inspired. She doesn't waste time on surface-level conversation, within minutes, you're in deep, meaningful dialogue about topics that truly matter: leadership, systemic change, the motherhood mental load, entrepreneurship, personal growth, and building real-life community in an overly digital world. What sets Jessica apart from other life coaches and leadership facilitators in San Luis Obispo County is her combination of warmth, humor, and serious expertise. She draws on her Master's in Education, Leadership & Change, her nonprofit leadership background, and her bilingual skills to connect with people from all walks of life. She guides discussions with purpose and keeps the energy high, blending insight with fun in a way that makes learning and self-reflection exciting. Her workshops are not just meetings; they're transformational experiences. If you're a young adult, parent, non-profit organization, business owner, or community leader looking for clarity, connection, and real-world tools for growth, I can't recommend Jessica and The Decision Bar enough. San Luis Obispo is lucky to have her!
